1 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2018

Having two issues. The first one is the check fuel intake warning light comes on and my check engine light stays on. This appears to be causing my car to cut out dangerously at intersections as well as the wrench light to come in and my car limps home.

3 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2013

Stalling. After driving 60 miles, some at freeway speeds, we stopped at a crossroad to cross. Upon crossing it ran rough and stalled just as we crossed the street. Waited two minutes, restarted and drove rest of way home with no problem. Posted speed on road we crossed is 55 mph. Had it stalled in front of traffic there could have been an accident. We had our two grandchildren in the back seat. This is the 2nd time in 5 weeks. Had the fuel pump and spark plugs changed the first time. Ran fine until yesterday. No check engine light is coming on. Today I ordered an throttle body.

4 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2013

The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle shook violently and stalled. Also, the contact stated that the wrench warning icon and the check engine warning light were illuminated. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle body needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated the parts needed to repair the failure were unavailable. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and the current mileage was 51,000.

5 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2013

I was driving along at 45 mph and the vehicle lost all engine power, but did not die. I stopped the vehicle and shut off the engine. I resterted the vehicle and it started fine. I drove two miles and engine lost power again. This time the check engine light came on. I shut the vehicle off and resterted. Check engine light was still on, but I was able to drive one mile to a friends house. I let it sit for 4 hours and drove 1/10 of a mile and engine lost power again. My friend gave me a ride home as I was 12 miles from home. I called a towing service and had vehicle towed to local garage. Computer code registered a p2111. I contacted local Ford dealership and they recommended a throttle body cleaning because vehicle was out of warranty by 6,000 miles. Had service performed on 6/24. On 6/29 the engine stalled again.

6 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2012

Engine lost power. Rpm dropped to approx 1000 and throttle became unresponsive. Engine warning light came on. Engine was running very rough. Pulled off interstate highway. Shut off engine. Restarted and ran normally. Next day dealer states that no faults were registered, suspects throttle body defect. Concerned that I may not be so lucky to be in light traffic next time resulting in accident.

7 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2012

Several times, while driving vehicle, engine suddenly lost power and the check engine light came on soon afterward. At times I was driving at highway speeds, and at times slower--the last time before service was approx. 40 mph. Had to pull over several times to the side of the road, stop the engine, then restart and try to continue driving. After several more losses of compression and power, returned home and took the vehicle in for service to the dealership where it was purchased. They ran diagnostics, but were unable to duplicate the problem. Problem recurred several times afterward, and with the check engine light still on, returned for service on 4/02/12, where the diagnostics confirmed a problem with the throttle body. It was replaced and there have been no problems since then. I had to spend the following amounts for service: diagnostics on 3/30/ $59. Actual repair on 4/02/ $450. 61.

8 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2011

In 2011, while driving at approximately 60 mph, I pressed the gas pedal and could not accelerate. The engine stayed on but I could not accelerate. I was able to turn on the hazards and pull off to the side of the highway. I turned off the vehicle and after waiting 5 minutes I restarted the vehicle and the gas pedal was working. Then again in October 2013, I was driving approximately 30 mph when I lost acceleration capability. This time the throttle body indicator light was displayed. I took the vehicle in to a mechanic and he stated that nothing registered on the computer as a malfunction. He looked at the intake valve and could not see any build-up. In January 2014 this happened 3 times and I was able to restart the vehicle and proceed. However, on January 11, 2014 after the malfunction the vehicle did not reset immediately now the check engine light is displayed.
