Vehicle steering is intermittently going out and driver is unable to turn the vehicle. I have contactted Ford and there is an existing recall (14s05) for this very item and my vehicle (year, make & model) is listed but they say my specific vehicle does not qualify.
Power steering went out, couldn't turn vehicle fast enough to avoid crash. Recall 14s05.
Steering torque sensor is failing, resulting in loss of steering control. This vehicle was not included in the recall that Ford already issued for the problem in 2014 but should be.
The steering locked for 1 to 2 seconds during a right hand turn on an entrance ramp to a highway. It happened again 2 months later with the steering locking for 1 to 2 seconds on a left hand turn after stopping at a stop sign.
Power steering cut out, quit working, on left turn, speed about 10 mph. Outage lasted about 1-2 seconds. Believe would have hit far side curb if steering had not spontaneously recovered. This was first occurrence. Drove car directly to dealer from incident; diagnosis tbd. Afraid to drive. At higher speed or if had lasted just a little longer would have wrecked!.
