Ford just notified me that there is a safety recall notice 21s12 / NHTSA recall 21v-158 for the driver's side airbag. The answer to "what is the risk?" "if an airbag inflator explodes, sharp metal fragments could strike the driver or other occupants causing serious injury or death. " and, yet, "Ford has not issued instructions to stop driving your vehicle. . . " however, they do not have replacement parts yet for this vehicle at the mechanic shop that I have used for many years! my complaint is that I am now afraid to drive this car, my main source of transportation as a retiree widow. In addition, I am at a loss as to why this airbag was not replaced when the passenger side airbag in these vehicles was replaced back in 2018. I am just lucky that the airbag was not deployed when I had a front end collision in late 2012. I am asking that these parts be made available ASAP because frankly, I am disappointed in Ford's response once again to this very serious situation. There is no longer any excuse for it.

2007 Mercury Milan, consumer writes in regards to air bag inflator safety recall.
Takata recall I was notified in the fall of 2016 that my vehicle has takata airbag inflators that have been recalled. I called my local Ford dealer ( klaben Ford in kent, ohio) to schedule a repair. I was told that parts are not available & I would be notified when parts are available. I called klaben Ford on 10/25/2017 and was told again parts are not available. Why after 1 year Ford can't find replacement parts? I believe Ford has no intention of replacing the inflators. What action can be taken to get Ford to honor the recall?.
2007 Mercury Milan. Consumer writes in regards to remedy or replacement parts not available to repair front passenger airbag inflator recall notice.
Back in July, 2016, I received a notice from Ford a recall on the frontal airbag inflator. No further notices have been received regarding fixing this problem. When will the situation be resolved?.
"takata recall" July 2016 Ford sent me a letter that the passenger airbag inflator is defective and they will be letting me know when to take it in to get it replaced. Received a letter today ( 1 and 1/2 years later) from Ford that they are still working on the problem and when and if they come up with a fix they will let me know when to get it fixed. They also stress that no one should ride in the front passenger seat as they can be injured or killed by the airbag if in an accident. The only thing they forgot to mention is the trade in value of the vehicle is none. It is an unsafe vehicle so the dealers can not resell it so they don't want it as a trade. Ford should be made to either buy back the vehicle or tell their dealers to give a special trade value. I am stuck with a car that I can not trade in and I can not let anyone ride in the front passenger seat. Ever try going on a date and she has to sit in the back seat? I guess Ford is telling us not to allow anyone in the front seat so when someone gets killed they can say they told us not to sit there. Vw got the royal screwing because of the diesel rigging and they were made to buy back the vehicles or give the owners money. Nobody died from that screw up. Ford is getting away with murder.

Takata recall the passenger frontal airbag inflator was recalled on June 1, 2016. I have asked my dealer, ted britt Ford of fairfax, va (quick lane, 11200 james swart circle, fairfax, va 22030, 703-659-8431) ever since if they can replace the part and they say they have not received it yet. Each time I need to drive my nephew somewhere, he must sit in the back behind me because of this. He said to me the other day, "aunt nancy, they are waiting for you or the car to die so they don't have to do it. " this is so true and it is unacceptable. Please look into this laggardly performance and see if the bottleneck can be cleared. Thank you, nancy berthold (vehicle is listed under my husband, mark berthold) 703-538-1154.

Takata recall I was notified of the recall several years ago and attempted to have the inflators replaced or repaired at that time. Since Mercury had gone out of production, I was referred to a Ford dealer, but when I contacted the nearest one (in woodbridge virginia, I was told that parts for repair of my vehicle were not yet available and I would have to wait but that , in the meantime, I should not drive my vehicle which was totally impractical since the date of arrival was unknown. I was never notified that the parts ever came. When the Ford company finally notified me that parts were available about a year ago, I contacted another dealer--also in woodbridge--- but was told that I would have to wait as preference was being given to people who had decided to rent cars (for which they had to pay after 30 days). I agreed to this but, again, was never notified that my turn had come. I can only deduce that the Ford motor company and/or its dealerships were not honestly attempting to make the required repairs a nd they have, therefore, never been made. Fortunately, since the Mercury is my primary vehicle, I have never stopped driving it and there has been no problem. In today's washington post, I now see that the recall program is reportedly being managed by NHTSA, so I am bringing this situation to your attention. According to the article, the ammonium nitrate which powers the airbags can deteriorate over time. If this is so, I would think priority for repair would be given to older cars first, and since mine is now 11 years old I should have been notified to bring it in to a dealer who would promptly make the repair. I would think your agency would be aware of this problem, but if not, I would appreciate it greatly, if you would now investigate and correct the situation. Thank you.
