Tl takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 Mercury Milan. Within months of owning the vehicle, the steering wheel became stiff. West herr Ford of rochester (4545 w ridge rd, rochester, NY 14626, 1-(585) 352-1200) was notified several times, but could not provide a remedy. The failure continued and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was towed to a repair facility where an independent mechanic indicated that there were two failure codes. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to a dealer for further diagnostic testing. The contact stated that a tie rod replacement and an alignment had previously been performed, but they failed to provide a permanent remedy. The contact planned to take the vehicle back to the dealer to be repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 19v001000 (air bags) and for more diagnostic testing regarding the steering. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). The failure mileage was not available.
