2 Brake Light Switch problem of the 2004 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 08/17/2008

Failed brake light switch, Ford pn f00b13480-ba this switch failed because the bi-metal switch contact fractured from metal fatigue, which caused the switch to become inoperable: which causes the brakes lights to not function as well as prevent the transmission selector to properly engage. And in addition to noting the internal failure inside the switch the contact points inside appear to be pitted. Vehicle mileage is only 44,700. This switch design appears to be shared with other Ford and Mercury products, however it is interesting that there are no known sources in the after market; Ford oem only !.
