general problems of the 1998 Mercury Mystique

Three problems related to air bag have been reported for the 1998 Mercury Mystique. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2001

While driving with the defroster on high, the heater unit caught fire, flames came throught the vents melting the dashboard and visiors and cracked the windshield, the fire also caused the drivers air bag to deploy. Nlm.

2 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2001

3 Air Bag problem

Consumer contacted the dealer in reference to recall number 99v243000/mfr recall number 99s23. Dealer states parts not available. Consumer has yet to have recall work corrected.
