The contact owns a 2005 Mercury Sable. The contact stated that the heating and air conditioning failed in her vehicle. The dealer stated that a faulty cal gasket caused fluid to leak into the motor blower, which was the cause of the failure. The motor blower was replaced at the cost of $528. The manufacturer will not assist with the repair cost because the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was 36,000.

03/12/08 - auto temperature control does not work. A/c does not work and blows constant hot air. Car has been serviced twice by Ford dealerships who admit this is a common problem yet Ford has not reacted. Interestingly the a/c works for about 6 months after dealership diagnostics then goes hot. My guess it is an electronic component which, when moved / manipulated, makes connection for a short period of time. To repair the a/c, basically completely replacing the system, is $2500.

First the front passenger side leaked water during rain storms. I had that fixed last fall. Now the a/c blower motor needs replacement, and it was told to me that these two repairs are related. The cost for the 2001, Sable is $2500 in repairs. Ford needs to fix this problem. Recall #03v087000 and other complaint #10184014.
Re:previous repair ted russell invoice # f1cs560238 dated: 1/19/2007 malfunctions that started February 28, 2007 are same as previously stated in referenced invoice as follows: 1) climate control blows hot air while on fresh air and ac 2) coolant light comes on; this usually happens with the malfunction of the ac control system referenced above. I can stop the car, turn everything off and in 15 seconds restart and light goes off. The coolant light will stay off as long as I keep the climate control off however; when driving for a distance (I. E. 30 miles) and then multiple start / stops in traffic the light will come on if I am running the climate control. Until the recent malfunction of the climate control Wednesday night (2/28/07) this coolant light has not come on since last repair to climate control. For information, the conditions outside were approximately 66 f. Obviously I am upset with the continued problems I am having after this vehicle spent one week in your shop for previous repairs for the same malfunctions. Additionally, I am extremely dissatisfied with the recommended repairs made by ted russell qualified professionals as discussed with you during my phone conversation yesterday.

I'd like to report that the temperature control unit for my 2001 Mercury Sable is not functioning properly. In addition to the a/c not functioning in warm weather, the moisture is not removed from the windshield in cooler weather, causing a safety hazard from the windshield fogging. The tempature control unit only blows very hot air, no matter which tempature is selected. The vehicle has been in for repair four times; the last time was on 10/14/02, but no work was performed becuase the TSB has not been issued. I was informed by the dealership on 9/13/02 that this is a known problem and that Ford is working on a technical service bulletin. As far as I know, a TSB has not yet been issued for this problem, even though I am forced to drive the car with the windows fogged up. Ford seems unconcerned about the sefety hazard that this problem causes. Dt.
Electrical system shut down, loses all power. The auto has accelerated on numerous occasions while stopped in traffic. Teh air conditioner shut down while traveling, twice the vehicle experienced complete electrical shut down, on one occasion requiring the vehicle to be towed. Consumer is requesting a vehicle replacement and for the failures to be recalled.
When at a complete stop vehicle will suddenly accelerate without applying gas. A/c shut down while traveling. Consumer unable to start the vehicle, the wipers, a/c and blinkers failed due to electrical system failure.
I have been told that all problems with my Sable from transmission to air conditioner is only typical for Sables. Transmission doesn't shift correctly, brakes pulsate, climate control can'tbe used because of smell inside car. Problem with transmission the dealership told me it was only the way I drive, they say nothing is wrong with car. Am now attemptong to have Ford buy back vehicle.
