4 Equipment problem of the 1998 Mercury Sable

Failure Date: 04/12/2018

Rear coil springs broken on both sides. Poor design. I was told there is a recall on this, but I do not see it. This is unsafe, because it will throw the car as it goes over a bump. It can also push up into the trunk, if not fixed. Very, very dangerous.

7 Equipment problem of the 2003 Mercury Sable

Failure Date: 11/24/2017

Why was I charged $249. 90 labor charges when the vehicle was only in my hands for a couple of days after being purchased from king Buick but not for parts, shop materials and use of a loaner car. I should have paid nothing under a warranty and would like to know if Ford has responsibility for that. Please feel free to call my call on 301-312-9146(c) or 301-869-9576(h) if you need more information about this. I was right across the street from the community where I reside and drove the car to king Buick GMC immediately.

10 Equipment problem of the 2002 Mercury Sable

Failure Date: 04/27/2016

It has a very high smell of gas when driving car and when you stop all you smell is gas.

11 Equipment problem of the 2008 Mercury Sable

Failure Date: 08/22/2015

The vehicle started and immediately something was wrong. The check engine light came on and it was confusing because the vehicle had been running flawlessly with a problem-free start just hours before. Backing it out of the driveway, odd noises and a problem just pushing the gas was evident that something major was wrong with the car. Scared to drive it, I followed my husband to the repair shop we use, just a few miles away. It seemed like a feat just to get the well-kept car there. We inherited the 2008 Sable with very low mileage from my husband's grandparents. Regular, recommended maintenance was routinely done to keep the car in tip-top shape. This problem came out of nowhere. The repair shop called us later on in the afternoon with a $2,500 estimate for the necessary repairs. "repairs for what?!?" I yelled, to no one in particular and to everyone around me at the same time. The family-owned shop has been so good to us and wanted to explain everything. He started with a mention of a technical service bulletin (TSB 14-0059) from Ford - outlining our problem exactly, and the needed repairs. I asked if the car's warranty would cover the damages and the answer was, "no. " no, because the TSB was issued exactly 14 days after the warranty would have lapsed on the newest model car it covered. We were covered for 60,000 miles and barely missed that cut-off (by 1,159 miles). No dice. We'd have to pay for Ford's mistake. The problem: the car's ecm (engine control module) malfunctioned and sent too much power to each of the ignition coils (6 total), blowing them out. If this was an isolated incident, I'd probably curse, pay the bill and move on. But it is not. It's is a well known issue that results in a very costly repair for the owner. We had to replace the ecm, program it and each of the ignition coils and spark plugs. Attaching the TSB and the bill. Recall.

12 Equipment problem of the 2004 Mercury Sable

Failure Date: 05/29/2015

Driving along residential area, extremely loud bang with burning rubber smoke. Stopped in road looked under hood found nothing wrong. Tried to drive again and there was a bumping noise and more rubber smell and smoke. Repeat inspection determined that the drivers wheel clearance was dropped and rubbing on the wheel. Search of internet shows that springs are routinely breaking and causing injury and death.

13 Equipment problem of the 2005 Mercury Sable

Failure Date: 05/31/2014

This was the third incident in which the car stopped on me. (one other time when I was leaving my apartment and one Wednesday evening on my way to bible study; both times had to coast to the road side and try and get it to start again). The third time I was driving down the highway at the speed limit of 40 mph. The car's dash board lite up; gave me one message that said "low pressure. The steering wheel locked and the gas pedal locked; I was able to coast to the side before it completed locked up and stopped one me. Had my year old grandson in the car with me. I let the car sit for a while and was able to get it started again. Drove it back to my apartment and parked it. Have not driven it since then - had it towed to a repair shop where it is right now - they want t0o much to have it repaired; they say there is a problem with the cylinder inside the ignition and that I also need a new key - want $1200 to repair it. I have been having problems trying to get it to started for about the past 6 months - have taken it to several repair shops; paid them but no one has solved the issue. Ford states that my car is not included in the recall (or though one lady there said it was). I believe that if it isn't, it should me. Is there anything else I can do to get this issue solved? has costed me lots of money, time and frustration and I am still walking.

14 Equipment problem of the 2005 Mercury Sable

Failure Date: 05/31/2014

This was the third incident in which the car stopped on me. Once before I was leaving my apartment and another time when I was driving on my way to church. During all three incidents, I had to coast to the side of the road and try to restart the car. The third time I was driving on the highway, the dash board all of a sudden lite up and one of the messages was "low pressure". The steering wheel locked up and so did the gas pedal. I had just enough times to coast to the side of the road (good thing there side strip. I had my 5 year grandson in the car so that was really scarey. The car has been parked ever since,I had it towed to a repair shop, the diagnostic suggests replacement of the ignition switch, ignition cylinder, antii-theft and ignition.

Does not stop if you shut car off and turn back on.

18 Equipment problem of the 1999 Mercury Sable

Failure Date: 12/09/2013

After rains the car got a wet floor on the passenger side ,no wet spots on roof or windows. It was leaking water from the dash board compartment bottom. While driving ,the heater was on and it started smoking from under the dashboard compartment by passenger side I turned everything off . I took it for repair and now, on may it rained heavy again and it has a puddle in the passenger side again ,same situation as before, water came from inside. Is this a safety hazard? I bought this car on November 2013 ,and I knew too late about the heating system recall ,I don't know if it was ever repaired on that recall. Ford dealer in colorado says there is no way to check it. According to some websites it needs something to have a protection under the wipers vents(cowl) and it is a factory mistake. I have had the heating system repaired 2 times, too expensive for me. I am under employed. I want to know if this is a safety hazard. It is the only way I could make Ford to fix this recalled if the car was never fixed for this before. Thanks for your help.

19 Equipment problem of the 2009 Mercury Sable

Failure Date: 08/23/2013

Having driven 150 miles or so of highway driving using cruise control, stopping two times to rest, driving approx. 65 - 70 mph. I arrived at waltham on rt. 128 where the traffic was bumper to bumper. I had to keep my foot on the brake until I was at exit 38 or 39. We travelled 5 - 15 mph. After I was in the slow traffic for approx. 20 minutes my car started to lurch forward while gassing up and wanting to jump ahead. My foot was on the brake and I needed to brake even harder to hold onto the force that the car was exerting. I was in bumper to bumper traffic and had kept a distance betweeh myself and the car in front so the small jump did not hit that car before I pushed harder on the brake. The same thing happened again within 5 minutes. Once I arrived in danvers I drove to the dealer to report the problem and they gave me an appointment for wednesday8/28/13. This same problem has been hapeening since I purchased the car in 2011. It self accelerated randomly every 3-4 months, it happened when I had my foot on the brake and I was at a traffic light with my mom in the car. I almost went throught the light from a stopped braked position. The other times were after driving with cruise control which I need. It also happened while braking to get into a parking place.

20 Equipment problem of the 2001 Mercury Sable

Failure Date: 05/04/2011

Something drastically wrong with the radiator system, antifreeze is always brown, have it changed and in 1 day it turns brown. The windows have been broken in this car since 2005, the two front windows do not go up and down, I don't feel safe without the windows working. There is something wrong with the suspension and I constantly have to put air into my tires and tires wear out quickly because suspension is messed up. Windshield washer has not worked since 2003. If it was built with pride like the company says it is, it would be a nice car. Falls apart too easily. I need help.
