The contact owns 2001 Mercury Sable. The contact was driving 5 mph and attempting to park the vehicle when he crashed the right front tire into a curb. The passenger side curtain air bag deployed independently. There were no injuries. The dealer advised that the vehicle would need to be repaired at the contacts expense. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that any repairs would be at the contacts expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 54,700.

Went to the parking lot to start my car. When I turned the ignition key the passenger side airbag deployed and then the driver side airbag deployed. The concern is what if the car had started and I was driving down the highway and the airbag went off for no reason.

2002 Mercury Sable not equipped with optional "personal safety system" (no side airbags or occupant sensors on this vehicle) was involved in collision. Front end damage appears minimal, michigan state police estimated vehicle speed at collision approx. 25 mpg. Passenger airbag deployed, drivers airbag did not. The vehicle did protect the driver (me) and the seatbelt system worked flawlessly. I could have been injured but was not. Based on equipment on this vehicle, if the passenger airbag deployed then the drivers should have as well as it does not have the occupant sensors, etc. Main concern is in repair, the dealer stated that this happens somewhat frequently and I am concerned the drivers airbag will not be replaced.

The contact owns a 2001 Mercury Sable. While driving over a pothole at approximately 35 mph, the passenger side air bag deployed. There was no occupant in the passenger seat. This was the only air bag that deployed in the vehicle. The contact called the dealer, but was not given any reason as to why the air bag deployed. The current and failure mileages were 54,000.

Driving to work going 25 mph. Driver side air bag suddenly deployed for no obvious reason. No injury or accident occurred. Have appointment to have the air bag examined. Cost will be $150 for the analysis at d'amico in east brunswick, NJ this Friday, oct. 14th, 2005.

On June 11, my mother was involved in a fender bender in traffic. When she pulled out of traffic into a shopping plaza she inadvertently accelerated instead of braking. Her 2003 Mercury Sable wagon spun around and crashed first into a huge cement lampost, then proceeded to run over two shrubs and a tree where the car finally stopped. The passenger side air bag deployed but the driver's side did not, even though the entire front end was totally demolished. Although my mother was wearing a seat belt, the lack of the air bag going off resulted in my mother snapping forward resulting in a spinal cord injury to the neck and paralysis from the chest down- a c6 injury. Since the car was only two years old, it doesn't make sense that the air bag didn't deploy. There must be some defect with that model and I want to make sure that no one else suffers and ends up paralyzed. The auto body shop stated that they'd seen other Ford cars in total collisions that also didn't have the drivers side air bag go off. He thought it might have to do with the sensors. Either way, the product isn't working.

2003 Mercury Sable station wagon ran off the road into a stone lined ditch. The passenger air bag deployed but the driver's side air bag did not. . . . . . On april1, 2005 while driving within the speed limit vehicle ran off the road into a rock lined ditch. Upon impact, driver's side air bag failed to inflate. Driver sustained chest pains and numerous burns. Driver was in pain for about 4 weeks.

While turning out of a driveway to the right, the left side air bag deployed (without inflating). No collision, just a turning manuveur to the right. 2001 Mercury Sable.

Side impact on a 2004 Sable. No airbags deployed. Driver sustained severe injuries including scapula fracture and pneumothorax, pneumomediastinum and subcuaneous air tracking, along with head wounds/lacerations. Patient required icu and multiple CT scans along with x-rays. Passenger airbag also did not deploy causing injury to passenger from seat belt and bounce-back from hitting the door secondary to airbag failure to deploy.

Passenger air bag deployed, however, driver side air bag did not. This incident was a collision with a stationary vehicle.

My wife swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle encroaching into her lane. She lost control of her 2003 Mercury Sable and slammed head-on into the concrete center divider of the westbound 60 fwy diamondbar CA. The passenger side air bag deployed, but the drivers side bag did not. She suffered a concussion, a fractured mandible, and a molar tooth was broken from the jaw bone which the maxillo-facial surgeon was unable to save. The car was a total loss.

While driving the passenger side impact air bag falsley deployed injuring the passengers right arm, the dealer replaced the passenger side air bag, seat cover and rcm module. Nlm.

Consumer states that when vehicle hit a pump slightly, heard a popping noise the driver side airbag came out but didn't deploy.

Drive's side airbag deployed, and passenger's side airbag deployed half way, and all these particles came flying everywhere. Consumer felt airbag exploded. Also, noticed a hole the size of a fist in passenger's side air bag.

I was informed that if I was to be in an accident, Ford does not know if the air bags would deploy. This car was purchased for the 5 star rating and additional cost were paid for side air bags.

Side door air bag sensor light continus to stay on while driving. Vehicle been in dealer shop on five occasions, and problem still occurring; feel free to provide any further information concerning this matter.

While driving on drum avenue in kensington maryland I was going approximately 25mph when I heard a loud bang and then my passenger side air bag deployed. At the time I had my 11year old grandson and one of his friends in the back seat. Apparently my tire blew out and when the rim hit the ground my airbag deployed causing the astronomical expenses. The driver's side airbag has experienced false deployment on 2 occasions, on one occasion injuring the driver.

On two occasions driver's side air bag deployed at 40 mph. First incident occurred on August 20, 1998 when driving over a strip. Second incident occurred on Jun 21, 2 000 when vehicle drove over a small bump. Passenger's side air bag did not deploy on both instances. Deployment of driver's side air bag caused bruises to driver's left arm and stomach. Dealer/manufacturer were notified. Feel free to provide further details.

The passenger side air bag is malfunctioning. I have taken the car to an authorized Ford dealer 8 times: 5/8/00, 5/24/00, 6/9/00, 6/1/01, 6/5/01, 7/11/01, 8/6/01, and 8/25/01. Ford has tightened connections,re-soldered connections, or replace wiring five times. The control module has been replaced twice. On 8/6/01 an authorized Ford dealer wrote on the work order "Ford tech. Assist hotline is aware of concern & advises no repair is available at this time. " I have filed for lemon law, and at Ford's request took the car to an authorized Ford dealer on 8/25/01. On 8/25/01, Ford "repaired a loose connection at fuse box. " the problem still exists. I am attempting to schedule a lemon law hearing date. This needs to be investigated. Ford is not working with me to solve the problem. In Ford's investigative report to the texas department of transportation, they did not acknowledge that the car had been seen for an air bag problem. I have copies of all eight visits to dealerships for the air bag malfunctions.

While driving at 25 mph another vehicle broardswiped consumer's vehicle. Upon impact, driver's side and passenger's side air bags didn't deploy.

The drivers seat belt will not stay fastened, dealer put an extension on the seat belt but it comes loose also. Nlm.

Front passenger side and rear passenger side airbags do not retract properly, causing seat belts to grab or to be too loose. Retractors needed to be replaced.
