The contact owns a 2002 Mercury Sable. While the vehicle was parked, the contact heard a loud bang. Upon further inspection, he noticed that the driver's side front end collapsed to the ground. He started the vehicle and heard a loud sound coming from the engine. The contact exited the vehicle and noticed that the tire was flat and that something hanging from the engine sliced the tire. He was unable to open the hood because the hood cable was damaged during the failure. The contact is in the process of towing the vehicle to the dealer for further inspection and notifying the manufacturer. The failure and current mileages were 55,500.

I own a 2003 Mercury Sable, in 2007, I noticed the paint on the passenger rear wheel-well was starting to bubble rust, my husband and I made numerous complaints to the dealership, at the time, they were undergoing a buyout and we had a difficult time getting any answers from anyone, once the buyout happened, we were then told all the computer files were being updated, they did not have any record of the issues we reported to the previous owners, so we started over. . . In July of 2008, finally got the manufacturer to share in the expense of the repairs as this had now passed the warranty timeframe, however, when the original problem was reported, we were quoted a repair estimate of $250. 00, by the time we received approval from Ford to go ahead with the repairs and they stated the repair estimate had increased to $ 550. 00 because the rust area had worsen. It is now 8 months later, and the bubbling and rust is starting to appear again. I have read several articles about Ford having issues with the paint used on their vehicles during the 200 - 2005 period. . Apparently - not too many complaints have been filed to warrant a recall, this is the basis for my compliant now. My car is taken care of, garaged, etc. . . . I have never had a rusting problem with an vehicle I have owned, and this does not seem fair that this car should be rusting, and for a second time within 8 months after the repairs.
Blower motor failed, water leak on passenger carpet. Very common issue that Ford will not address. Service was done to replace blower motor, wiper cowl, cabin filter, and rain hat extension at owner's cost. Parts replaced were same as original so failure is likely to occur again.

Ford taurus and the Mercury Sable's have a problem with water leaking into the heater core box which eventually causes the heater motor and stop working. I understand from reading post on the internet that is apparently a design flaw. My car had 44,000 miles at the point where the motor quit working. The bill to repair the car was $471. 28. The warranty had obviously expired but I felt like Ford motor CO should re-imburse the cost of the repair since it is a very common problem. They declined to help with the cost of the repair.
Water leaked into car interior foot area and shorted out ac/heater blower motor.
Component: service brakes, hydraulic:antilock
details: vehicle would start to spontaneously accelerate on its own power. After engine was turned on and the gear changed to drive, vehicle would jump on its own. While vehicle accelerated, brakes started to malfunction, and vehicle could only stop when the complete engine was turned off. This has happened on twelve different occasions. Defect can cause driver to lose control and get into an accident. The accelerator and brake pedals engage simultaneously. The pedals are set unusually close together. The driver has no means to know the state of pedal adjustment.

Leaking connection between windshield water and blowing motor of heating/ventilation causing windows to fog up after starting and beginning driving. When opening the blower motor compartment you can actually water see dripping out. Also a soaking wet floor will occur right after a severe rainstorm. This is a mayor safety issue due to bad visibility!.
Whenever the car is rained upon, water runs into the fan motor air intake, then into the fan blower motor, which is inside the car behind the glove box, and then runs out onto the right front passenger floorboard. I have had to replace one blower motor that shorted out from the water in it, and have to pull the carpet up so it can dry out. Also, afraid of the possibility of mold growing either in the air vents or in the carpet. I took the car to the dealership and the service representative told me he has seen other cars like mine having the same problem. The dealership sells a part to install under the hood over the air blower intake to channel water away to correct the problem.
First the front passenger side leaked water during rain storms. I had that fixed last fall. Now the a/c blower motor needs replacement, and it was told to me that these two repairs are related. The cost for the 2001, Sable is $2500 in repairs. Ford needs to fix this problem. Recall #03v087000 and other complaint #10184014.

Water and rain leak into blower housing and then onto passenger floor. In heavy rain the blower can be heard agitating the water. There are many reports that this will eventually disable the blower motor and therefore the vehicle will have no defroster, creating a potential hazard.
Mercury Sable 2003 leaks water onto the passenger floor board also causing my ac blower motor to short out.
: the contact stated water leaked into the front right side of the ventilation system, onto the floor, as the vehicle was driven at 45 mph, while it was raining. The service dealer has been made aware of the problem, but the manufacturer was not notified.
Water collected in the heater blower motor causing it need repalcement. I have heard this is a design flaw.
No events leading up to incident. Whenever it rains, water leaks onto the front passenger side floorboard. Water also leaks onto blower motor and resistor causing failure. Caused by a manufacturer design flaw in a plastic cowling in engine compartment.
Had burnt out blower motor replaced on my 2002 Mercury Sable Aug 30, 2005. I was told by dealer that they just go sometimes. On October 26, 2005 I brought car back to dealer due to water leaking onto floor on the passenger side below the blower motor. I was then told they had a "service bulletin" on that and it was caused by a design defect in the cabin air filter and water channels into the blower motor which causes them to burn out. They then said they have to install a rain hat and reseal the area for a cost of about 300. 00. While replacing the rain hat , the tech. Pulled out the new blower motor (which was full of water) to blow the water out of it and then replaced it. Obviously this is what caused the first blower motor to go which cost 270. 00 to replace. I'm sure the dealer knew what caused the blower motor to burn out because they had that "service bulletin" and should of told me about the design defect then and fixed the problem then. I ended up paying double for labor. This problem should be a recall and the manufacturer should be responsible. It's a defect in the design of the vehicle and the consumer should not have to pay. How many other Sable/taurus owners have this problem?.
Dt:contact states the body of the car corroded from inside out, where the frame bolts were located. Contact called a Ford dealer, who stated there was no a recall on this vehicle.

The contact stated water was coming from the outside of the vehicle, and leaking into the brake area. It was coming down behind the dashboard. When it rained there would be water in the driver's and passenger's side floorboard. She contacted the dealer. The first time they cleared out some leaves. The second time they said it was the track on the sun roof. Third time, the dealer claimed the leak was coming from the windshield. The dealer was offering no free remedy. There was noise coming from passenger's side front brakes. The dealer stated this was normal. Updated 12/07/05.
Blower failure and standing water on driver's and passenger's floor boards.
Water leaked into the a/c fan motor, causing failure to the a/c unit. Please provide more information.
Consumer has problems seeing through windshield when the sun is shining. The reflection is so bad that it distorts vision. When looking through the windshield, instead of seeing what is on the outside, the consumer sees the reflection of the dashboard. The reflection is very strong.
Originally the problem began as a small leak into the passenger compartment during rainfall. Now is a major leak during smallest rainfall. Cooling/heating ducts began to emit strong musty odor. Now air will not pass through any ducts other than floor or defrost (a/c only passes through defrost outlet). Leak does not occur going through car wash which may be reason dealer was unable to duplicate problem. They told me "there is no leak, you must be bringing the water into the car some other way. " the amount of water entering is significant!.
I am very concerned about the failure of the rear submounts in my car. I purchased a premium extended service plan with the car and I am told these components are not covered because they are part of the " structure " of the car and are a safety hazard should they fail. In fact the components do not even appear on the maintenance schedule for my car!.
Water leak in the front passenger cowl and has caused my blower motor to short and am no longer able to use it.
Consumer complaint regarding glare through the windshield is high, reflection of cars interior. The passenger windshield wiper doesn't clear the upper portion of the glass.
The steering wheel vibrated while in idle, the structure of the vehicle rocked back and forth or from side to side. Vehicle also picked up speed on its own without pressing the accelerator. Ts.
