One problem related to steering rack and pinion has been reported for the 1996 Mercury Villager. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The tilt wheel assembly moves sideways as you are making turns to the left. On cold days the rack and pinion works fine on the left side but takes a while to work on the right side. It's as if it needs to warm up, first.
