Speed Control Linkage problems of the 1999 Mercury Villager

Six problems related to speed control linkage have been reported for the 1999 Mercury Villager. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2002

On three different occasions while applying brakes the vehicle will suddenly accelerate.

2 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2002

Throttle linkage pedal would stick intermittently while driving. Vehicle at dealer. Feel free to provide any further information.

3 Speed Control Linkage problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2000

Consumer states that when problem began, throttle linkages were seizing at alternating startups, but now have increased from every deadstop and startup with no exceptions, consumer found that this series vehicle was not included in recall and is baffled by it.

4 Speed Control Linkage problem

Accelerator pedal sticks from vehicle stationary position. Applying enough force to break it free, results in sudden acceleration.

5 Speed Control Linkage problem

When accelerating from a stop vehicle will not move or take off due to defective accelerator pump. Parts were not available unitl may,2001. In meantime, consumer was driving an unsafe vehicle.

6 Speed Control Linkage problem

When trying to merge into traffic vehicle would seem to hang up. Dealer has cleaned throttle linkage, but defect has reoccurred.
