The contact owns a 1998 Mercury Villager which was purchased in 2007. She stated that the fuel filler hose had several cracks in it. The cracks in the hose caused major gasoline fumes to enter the interior of the vehicle. Although there was a recall for the failure, NHTSA campaign id number, 00v419002, fuel system, gasoline storage tank assembly her VIN was not included. On a separate occasion, the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was towed to her home where an independent mechanic stated that the sub-frame on the vehicle was cracked. No repairs had been made to date. The failure and current mileages were under 189,732.

2 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 1997 Mercury Villager

Failure Date: 02/21/2001

Consumer noticed gasoline odors coming from vehicle, when he examined the fuel rail and hoses, he determined that a loose rubber clamp was allowing fuel to leak from vehicle, consumer tightened clamp and stopped fuel leak. . Consumer stated this is the second time this has happened, the first time the dealer took care of the problm.

3 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 1997 Mercury Villager

After the recall was done on a fuel hose the vehicle has on an off smelle of very strong gas fumes inside the passenger compartment and outside the van as well, took the vehicle back to the dealer and the fuming problem seemed to be coming from a gap in the body seam area of the vehicle in which they sealed, possible of manufacturing defect.
