Tire Problems of Mini Cooper

Tire size 205/45 r17 pirelli ginturato we were driving from an appt and the low tire air light came on. We got to car x and found the side wall and tread belt on the inside of the tire had came off. Car x didn't have a replacement tire and they switched the bad tire to the back so we would have xontrol of the steering in a blow out they said to go across the street to goodyear but be careful. Goodyear had to good get a tire because the car was considered unsafe and a road hazard to drive on the road or highway. We were over an hour from home. The other 3 tires are doing the same thing. We don't have the tire but we do have pictures. Our car could have cause a big accident if we hadn't thought quick enough and the mechanic hadn't found the problem I'm not sure if others have had this issue but the other 3 of our tires are doing the same thing. The car is inoperable until we can afford 3 more new tires. The vehicle was inspected by 3 mechanic. . . Car x, goodyear, and my husband. They appeared the same day. There was no symptoms except at the last minute the low tire air light coming on.

Pressure started to drop from 32 lbs to 16 lbs in about 15 minutes. Worth to note: no pot hole or any other object was hit during the day of the incident; or even previous days. After stopping, I noticed that the failure occurred in the inner face of the tire. Inner face was pretty degraded and inner treads were visible. A 15 inch long breakage line was visible. Car has 18k miles on it. When comparing the tire that failed to the rest, its degradation was much higher.

Yesterday my 23-year daughter experienced a dangerous incident, with bursting of the right front wheel tire while driving on the freeway. She almost killed herself. It is a new car (Mini Cooper, 2008) with only 11,000 miles traveled. The aaa which was called for assistance did not find any sign of external perforation and thought that it was an explosion of the tire.

During a 10-minute commute to work, my right rear continental contitouring contact ch95 (grand touring all-season) 175/65hr15, purchased and installed on 6/29/06, failed. The tread portion separated from the tire sides. The sides remained attached to the wheel rim. The tread, minus the tire sides, separated from the wheel and was found otherwise intact on the roadside behind my disabled vehicle. No accident occurred and no damage or physical injuries were sustained. A call to the retailer (the dealership where the tires and car were purchased) resulted in a response suggesting that some road hazard contributed to the failure and that would not be considered coming under the tire warranty. Upon seeing the failed tire, the nc state trooper and emergency roadside assistance technician disagreed, feeling that the tire might be defective.
