There has been a recall on my Mini Cooper for sometime now. Over a year and a half at least. We have been patiently waiting for the remedy and still, do not have one. Our car, at times has become inoperable due to this recall. We took it to an auto shop, they ran a test and confirmed that the issues we are receiving are from the recall. I feel like this issue is taking a very long time for Mini to fix and it is putting us out of money and causing lots of stress to us. I am filing this complaint in hopes this can provide a solution to us and Mini.

While driving the car at aproximately 25mph, the engine and the car stopped running. All dashboard warning lamps were off prior to the engine failure the car rolled to the side of the road to get out of the way of other traffic. The service engine warning lamp was on after the engine shut off and stopped running. The car was towed to a service station, and they too could not get the car to start. The mechanic's troubleshooting ultimately found the engine's internal timing chain had broken, causing multiple of other internal engine components to become damaged. The engine required detailed repair to replace the damaged engine parts to get it to start operating again. The costs for the repairs were over $5000. 00.

Some how from one day to another the signal doesn’t works for any dirección, horn, high lighting doesn’t work, only works the posición light but doesn’t respond if I use the control to turn off or change the option.
When driving vehicle transmission slips causing a jerk reaction in the vehicle and then it will renegade causing another jerk reaction in the vehicle and makes going and or stopping unpredictable. Turning left is dangerous as the car may not move forward at a speed that it should or may jerk in the middle causing the vehicle to stop in front of oncoming traffic. I have had a machanic change the transmission and it still does the same thing. I have contacted the manufacturers who informed me that there were no recalls and nothing they would do.

When pressing the break, the engine revs. I turned on the car and pressed the break. The engine revved. When I pressed the brake again it revved up to 7000 rpm. I turned off the car. I did this several times and it continued to happen. I was afraid to put the car in gear. While driving down the road a month ago the Mini engine rpm raised and the car went faster even though I was not pressing the gas. I was able to stop it.
I made a right turn from the main street, into the parking lot of a strip mall, then an immediate left turn, and another right turn into the right angle parking slot. All the while having my foot on the brakes, I started to shift into park, when it was in the right spot. The Mini instead coming to a stop, revved up, jumped the curb and hit the store in the front. The air bags deployed. I had my foot on the brakes really hard, all the time but the brake pedals were locked up. It would not move up or down. Sat hard on the floor! when the tow truck came, the brakes were still locked up and the gear was in park and couldn't be moved from there. The seat belts couldn't be retracted either. Mini engineer claims that there is nothing wrong with the car and I can safely drive it after the body is repaired. I am having a difficult time with this conclusion. The car's brakes and gear were locked up, and had to be lifted on a flatbed and taken to the repair shop; I still maintain something within the car malfunctioned.

2013 Mini Cooper paceman base auto. 05/30/2016- we experience instances where vehicle continues to accelerate maintaining speed after releasing gas pedal while vehicle is in motion on city street, highway, city street going downhill. Duration of the period of continued acceleration maintaining speed typically last 1 to 3 seconds. We noted that the occurrence of these instances began recently after annual service in 05/2016. We inquired if vehicle had recent software update. Dealer cannot diagnose any defect. Dealer cited adaptive engine control unit (ecu). Dealer acknowledged other customers have cited the same issue we are experiencing. Dealer reset ecu unit. We inquired if transmission fluid service would resolve the problem. Dealer offered to perform transmission fluid service at our expense. Note vehicle still under new car warranty. Dealer advice when instance of acceleration occurs to press the brake. Dealer advised us to change driving style. We confirmed all remedies at dealer level exhausted. We contacted Mini USA for assistance and inquired if transmission fluid service would resolve the problem, requested Mini USA work with dealer to cover expense. Mini USA contacted dealer. Mini USA declined to cover transmission fluid service expense. Mini USA referred us back to dealer service manager for further assistance and closed incident. Mini USA offered to have regional rep meet with us when at dealer in 09/2016. We accepted offer to meet. 09/14/2016 we contacted Mini USA about meeting with regional rep. Mini USA had no record of offer or request. We informed Mini USA also experiencing same acceleration issue in 2013 Mini Cooper countryman base automatic. Annual service for this vehicle in 05/2016. We asked if problem is ecu software related. For the record we informed Mini USA that they have deemed vehicle safe to drive.

I drove an automatic 2013 certified Mini Cooper off the lot with 33k prior miles. After less than a week, and after only driving a total of 254 miles, the accelerator failed in the middle of an intersection. I did not loose all power, the gas pedal just quit responding while I was driving. All other systems in the car seemed fully responsive/operational with exception to the accelerator. The engine did not rev and the car did not respond to the accelerator even when it was pushed fully down. My car was manually pushed out of the intersection/traffic with help by the person behind me. After safely to the side of the road, I turned off the car. After about 5 minutes I restarted the car and the gas pedal was operational. The following day I drove the car back to the dealer without incident. They re-checked the certification items and were not able to diagnose the problem. Their error readers did not detect any codes. Perplexed- they sent the information to their technical engineering department. The engineers claim that it is a needed software update that caused the accelerator failure while the vehicle was in motion. The engineers are asking that the Mini service department update the software and drive a bit to test the vehicle. The situation that the needed software update caused is dangerous. I have seen posts from other Mini Cooper drivers who have/are experiencing this issue- yet there are no recalls or known service bulletins for the hazardous problem. I did notify Mini USA (corporate) of the accelerator failure. Notes: the car was very recently fully serviced/certified with no know problems, I had fuel, I was in drive, the car was in motion, I was attempting to make a left turn in a residential intersection, I was in the process of accelerating when the gas pedal failed to respond further- I was immobilized in the middle of an intersection.
My car only has 47,000 miles on it and has the same passenger side airbag issue. It started off at times having the problem, now is on all the time. Mini wants $125 to diagnose the problem, which seems evident. Also paid $425 to fix electrical wiring that corroded and $1,700 2 months earlier this year when wheel sensor went bad and 3 lights went off in the car.
I have a 2004 Mini Cooper it has recently reached 87000 miles and the cvt transmission is failing. Normally you change your transmission fuel every 25,000 to 50,000 miles. My model Mini Cooper hatchback does not come with a reservoir to change such a fuel it was a guarantee by the manufacturer that these models would not need such a service and that the transmission would be fine throughout the lifetime of the car. What worries me is that I have not been able to drive my Mini over 50mph due to the increase of rpm's. Without the speed increase it is not safe for me to drive on the highways as I normally would. A cvt transmission replacement could cost thousands. But more importantly I'm worried about my safety its possible that my transmission could fail while mobile. Thats my main concern. I recently read that there has been a lawsuit addressing these issues. It is BMW's due diligence to address this matter seeing how thousands of citizens are operating this machinery on a daily basis.

The car stalls(reduces speed 0-10mph) it may shut completely down at times this has been the same consistent problem since date of purchase the used car dealership has been informed of this problem since dop and for a moment I thought the problem had been solved but it turned out to be a recall on the power steering pump which was replaced back in July-Aug 2013. The Mini dealer also, thought they found the source of the problem but consistently just charged me monies for problem that never turned out to be the source so I stopped going to them. I tried to file a lemon law suit but was told I couldn't pursue because statute of limitations. So lawyer ref me to contact this office and file a claim because I've spent numerous amounts of money and nothing has been fixed I still feel unsafe and scared for my life when I drive but I'm limited in money to keep trying to find the source that's causing the problem. One thing noted that the car engine has been rebuilt. Also, I'm paying a car note . Please if there is anyway you can't help I feel I was preyed upon and take. Advantage of because the dealer knew there was a problem at the time of purchase and withheld it.
I have an '06 Mini Cooper and never had any engine/transmission issues prior to today. All scheduled maintenance was done by the Mini dealer. Today leaving to go to work, I started the car, put my seat belt on, checked the mirrors, rolled down the windows, put the car gear in "d" and started moving forward out a parking lot, and after a few seconds while driving, the car lost all acceleration and came to a stop. Then the car won't reverse nor move forward while in any gear. Towed to the dealer and later was told it's the cvt transmission and it will cost thousands of dollars to replace the cvt transmission.

When accelerating from 30 to 40 miles an hour/shifting from 3rd to 4th gear, my transmission would rev up the rpms and my car no longer accelerates. It went from about 2 to 5. 5 rpms, even after I took my foot off the gas pedal. Once it finally does shift, it lurches the car forward violently. It takes a while for the transmission to start acting up, but once the car is fully warmed up, it seems nearly impossible to have it not happen. It's even more frustrating and frightening because I do all city driving, where I slow down and speed up so I am constantly having to get within the 30mph range. My car stops accelerating so I am afraid of my transmission dying in the middle of traffic or slowing down so much that is causes an accident. Bottom line: my car does not function properly and potentially endangers me, so I am afraid to drive my car.
The power steering failed, common problem in 2004 Mini Cooper. Canada has issued a recall in January 2012.
The contact owns a 2006 Mini Cooper. While driving approximately 45 mph, the rpm readings increased as the vehicle jerked forward abnormally. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Intermediate power steering failure , ran off the road hit a fence to avoid on coming car, thank god I was not hurt ,was on my way to work, after 8 hrs at work got in it steering was workin almost to my drive went out again never know when this will happen but happens quite often lately come drive it will scare your pants off.
The new Mini Cooper that I leased started to have acceleration problems around 6500 miles. What happens is a hesitation in the acceleration of the Mini from a start or at low rpms. For example when you're at a stop and you are trying to cross traffic the hesitation of the acceleration is dangerous in timing the vehicle to cross traffic and when the acceleration catches up the car jumps to high rpms. This is being reported because I took the Cooper into the Mini of ontario service center and they said there is nothing wrong.
The car, a 2003 Mini copper, suddenly slowed down while I applied brake in a evening traffic that was slowing down near a light/signal. It felt like a stall and a loss of power. My foot was on the brake, and on confusion, I tried to adjust the pressure on the brake. At that point, the car's power came back and the car rolled forward and hit the trailer hitch of the truck in front of me, causing a 2' dent and crack on the front bumper. Fortunately, it was a low-speed impact and did not cause any personal injury. Since this was an unusual experience, I went to the dealership after checking the web. They suggested checking the software version ($90) and a revision ($180). The cost of fixing the bumper would be much higher than that.
Started vehicle in the evening when leaving work then drove out onto the street and the vehicle stopped. The throttle would not do anything and the car wouldn't move. The dealer said a temperature sensor told the computer it was out of range and sent the automatic transmission into a limp mode. After pulling over and restarting the car it was possible to drive it home, but the service engine light was on. The vehicle was only 1 month old. The dealer has replaced two map sensors and an electronic throttle motor, but it's not supposed to be fixed until they correct the software. There are 7 Mini Cooper s automatics with the same problem at this dealer and many more throughout the u. S.
While stopped the car would not accelerate for 5-7 seconds. . The engine rpm did not increase even with the foot pedal pushed to the floor. When the rpm did increase the car accelerated normally until the next episode. When the vehicle was taken to be serviced the problem could not be determined.
Wildly stumbles while auto is stopped. It is intermittent there is on consistency to this problem.
