1 Windshield problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Diamante

Failure Date: 03/19/2010

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). This concerns my 2003 Mitsubishi Diamante. It has less than 50,000 miles on it and it has suddenly started spewing a light film on the inside of my front windshield so that I cannot see well. . . And not at all when I am headed into the sun. I have checked on the internet and a lot of people are having the same problem with Mitsubishi Diamantes going back several model years. All Diamantes need to be recalled and the heater core and/or its o rings fixed or replaced. If this doesn't happen, people will die when they suddenly cannot see the road through their front windshield. [xxx].

2 Windshield problem of the 2002 Mitsubishi Diamante

Failure Date: 09/19/2009

My front windshield was fogging up every time I used the heater and a smell of coolant inside my car--nasty film was left, found out it was a heater core problem. Sometimes the fog would take 20 minutes to clear up with defroster on highest settings. These problems are all over the internet with Mitsubishi Diamantes. I am surprised that these have never been recalled for safety reasons.

3 Windshield problem of the 2002 Mitsubishi Diamante

Failure Date: 02/14/2009

The black metal strip above the windshield came off while driving. All the plastic clips that attach the windshield to the strip were broken, and some were even missing upon inspection. I purchased the vehicle used from a dealership, and got a carfax report that showed the vehicle suffered no prior damage and had no prior accidents whatsoever.

4 Windshield problem of the 1998 Mitsubishi Diamante

Failure Date: 11/30/2004

I own a preowned 1998 mistubishi Diamante LS. When the climate control, particularly the heater is engaged, the smell of anti-freeze becomes quite apparent. Dealer claimed 2 years ago when I bought it that it was the smell of the chemicals used to clean the car during "make-ready. " ethylen glycol fumes are toxic and this is a reoccuring defect in this model car from posts I have seen on various websites. I was later told that to fix this problem will cost close to $1000 since the car is out of warranty. Mitsubish issued a TSB addressing this problem, obviously they are aware of it. In addition, the windshield is covered with a film that cannot be washed off from this leak. A recall should be issued for this problem, I am not the first person to file this complaint on your website. Thank you.

5 Windshield problem of the 2000 Mitsubishi Diamante

Failure Date: 04/01/2001

The heating system on this vehicle has failed repeatedly on this vehicle. Ususally this is only a minor inconvenience. There have been two instances where it was dangerous. Once was in a heavy rain, where the defroster failed, the other was just recently in a rain/snow mix. The interior of the windshield completely fogs up making vision to the road and oncoming traffic very poor. I have had a "chip" replaced twice under warranty and will try again.

6 Windshield problem of the 2000 Mitsubishi Diamante

Failure Date: 03/12/2000

All four passenger door windows are distorted. This impairs driver's vision, and makes things look like wrinkled.

7 Windshield problem of the 1997 Mitsubishi Diamante

Consumer has problems with the window leaking/door locks freezing and the rear view mirrow falling off. The dealer replaced the mirror, and it's known that the in 98 models rear view mirrors are mounted to the roof console. As a result of 97 defects, door locks freeze in the open position when consumer gets in the car and closes the door in below 25 degree temperature. The door will not be closed due to freezing of the locks. The windows leaks after washing vehicle or if it rains. The water stays inside the car if the temperature drops below freezing, causing the windows and locks to freeze. Dealers have not remedied this problem. This has hyappened 3 times Monday January 12, 98. The first time and the vehicle is still at the dealership.
