Windshield Wiper/washer Problems of Mitsubishi Diamante

The windshield wiper completely failed while driving in the rain. According to the dealer engineer who inspected the unit, the wiper motor failure occured and the motor must be replaced. The compelte failure of the wiper was very dangeours while driving in the rain. A question needs to be raised if there is any fundamental defect in the wiper motor; it shouldn't fail only after driving 2000 miles.

Windshield wiper blades don't contact the windshield in cold weather due to a stiff hinge near the base of the wiper arm. Can be temporarily corrected by using a light, penetrating lubricant, but problem returns after car wash.
