Dash Wiring Problems of Mitsubishi Eclipse

Driving on freeway when battery light came on. Shortly after highlights would not turn off. Then vehicles lights in dash turn on and off, wipers turn on and off, and vehicle completely loses power at 75 mph. Battery appeared to have exploded. Battery acid over entire engine compartment. Will not start after new battery is tried.

I had parked this auto and went inside to sleep- was awaken by horn going off in auto- went out to see what was going on and when I open the door all I saw was a blast of smoke that hit me in the face. Fire chief said it was a electrical fire that started behind the dash where the instruments are. The insurance total this car out everything was melted in the auto- I bought this auto 15 days ago used.

The vehicle caught fire while parked, it appears that the fire started under the dash on the passenger side where the passenger side air bag is located. Nlm.

Car had been driven a short distance. The driver got out of the car when it spontaneously caughton fire. True cause and origin of the fire is unknow as Mitsubishi does not wish to speak with us, or examine the car.

Left main wiring harness and wiring to upper rear brake light failed, starting fire.

Smoke from main wire under dash shorted out, cause of shortage was main wire rubbing against clutch pedal.
