Unknown. I received something from the Mitsubishi company in the mail, but did not reply to them because multiple people told me those are scam related. I never had anything checked, and not sure if I have an issue.

Electrical cable for fuel pump caught fire. My daughter was able to park and exit the car safely before it combusted but it took 8 minutes for the car to basically explode. I think this is very dangerous for a family with kids or someone that wouldn't be as fast as my kid to get out of the car. We found out the same car/year has a recall but this was not issued to my specific vehicle. . Read more...

The dashboard facia is pulling away from upper dash where a lip is suppose to keep it retained. Also, the door spring to keep the door open broke and the door will close unless you keep some force on it while getting in or out. Both items occurred at approx 70,000 miles.
Takata recall: my vehicle is involved in the NHTSA campaign number 15v338000. On October 29, 2016, I was driving towards my home. After being in the stopped position for the duration of the left turn signal at the intersection of fm 518 and fm 1128 in pearland, texas, the light turned green and I proceeded down 1128 toward my home. After proceeding about1 block, my passenger airbag suddenly deployed. There was no passenger in my vehicle and nothing on the passenger seat, either. There were no other cars on the road. I had the windows open and the top down. The airbag was blowing in front of my face, blocking my vision. The passenger visor flew off, hitting my left arm, as I was trying to keep the airbag out of my face to get safely off the road. I pulled over to the right, into a parking lot. My vehicle stopped on the edge of a ditch at the side of the parking lot, due to my vision being blocked. My driver side airbag went off when I hit the culvert of the ditch. Fire came out of my steering wheel and I smelled chemicals. The fire promptly went out. My left arm was on the armrest of the door with both forearm bones visibly broken. The arm was swollen and deformed. I only had the vehicle 26 days. I was taken to the nearest trauma unit. The radia and ulna in my forearm have been put back together with rods and screws. My vehicle has major damage to the front end, radiator, transmission, steering, axle, etc. 9 months later my armis not healed and I am still without a vehicle.
The front of my dashboard (the airbag sits behind it) is coming off of my vehicle. It is on the passenger's side. I contacted the Mitsubishi dealer in charleston, SC and he informed me that he had seen numerous vehicles with the same problem (mitsubishis). I consider this to be a safety hazard because once this piece of material falls off there will be nothing to protect the passenger from the airbag at any time. I was informed it would cost $1,200 to fix. The entire dashboard needs to be replaced. My vehicle doesn't even have 100,000 miles on it yet. I believe that having my vehicle in the condition it is in is very dangerous and Mitsubishi obviously didn't manufacture a good reliable product which is not only deceptive but dangerous. Please help me. Thank you!.
The main issue seems to be a manufacturing defect in the wave/cushion spring located in the transmission. Mitsubishi has designed the wave spring as a fragile two coil piece which has been known to repeatedly break causing catastrophic failure in the transmission. This in turn poses a threat on the driver and passengers. When this wave spring breaks, actual pieces of the wave spring make it through Mitsubishi¿s also faulty transmission filter and lodge themselves in the pump gear, causing the gear to actually break. After the pump gear has been broken inside the transmission, all forward and reverse gears immediately stop function and in most instances the vehicle shuts off. This could result in potential harm or even death of the driver and/or passenger as the vehicle loses all moving power which can cause an accident with other vehicles on the road. Mitsubishi has recently created an updated version of the wave spring without issuing a recall, which now is a one piece instead of the coil setup and has a less chance of breaking. To many Mitsubishi/Dodge owners this update was discovered after they have had their vehicle in a transmission shop with a hefty bill to pay even though it was Mitsubishi¿s fault for engineering a faulty part in their transmission. All one person would need to find out about this issue is search the internet with the transmission code (f4a51) and this issue is well documented, even researched by transmission digest (a specialty magazine). Not only is this a large inconvenience to most, it is also a hazard to ones life. Mitsubishi should recall all vehicles which contain the f4a51 automatic transmission to perform the wave spring and filter update or reimburse those who have already had it done at their cost. This is an issue that needs to be addressed as if you own a vehicle with the f4a51.
I brought the vehicle used in 2008, after driving for a week or 2 I notice the tires were loosing air. I am constantly filling the tires with air every 2 to 3 days. I have taken this vehicle to the dealer and 2 other shops for a diagnosis and they said it was the tires, I replaced the tires and I still have this issue, so I know its more than the tires (its probably the wheel element damaged or something). The light tire lights turns on constantly and on several instances the car would shake heavily. Most of the shaking is experienced when driving on the highway. This issue is so bad, I barely ride the vehicle and when I do, I do not take it far due to the air pressure issue.
I was making a right to enter a church and as I was slowing down I lost complete pressure of the brakes. I have taken it to two mechanic but the problem goes away after a day. They told me the brakes were fine. (one of those being a Mitsubishi dealer). This was very dangerous because if there was a car coming out of the church I would've had an accident or crash.

I was driving the car normally fine and there was a small pot hole on the ground that I went over. I had my foot on the brakes while running over the pot hole and the pressure on the brakes were completely lost. It was a spongy feeling as the brakes were to the floor. The brakes had very little power and when let go had a whistling sound coming back up. I had to drive home while down shifting to lower gears because the brakes did not work.
Vehicle became unresponsive to braking. Brakes almost go into floorboard before acknowledgement of braking. Car is very wobbly feeling, especially when it's raining or wet outside, the car will slide into anything when using brakes. I had to run up on curb to miss hitting the vehicle in front of me, because the car wouldn't stop! brake light also was on, so repaired it at body shop and replaced master cylinder. After master cylinder was replaced brake light went off but car was still driving the same, (wobbly, not stopping on time, brakes going into floorboard). About a month or less later brake light came back on and body shop said it was brake fluid so they fixed it, then brake light went off, but still driving the same. Rotated tires, replaced old tires and put on new ones, aligned car, replaced break pads, replaced master cylinder, and still nothing has changed. I have spent so much time and thousands of dollars to repair this car and nothing works. I've been without a car during the time it's been repaired to only find out that it can't be repaired no matter what mechanics do. This is completely dangerous and I am just inches away from having an accident and either hurting myself or other people (especially on the interstate). I do not see how anyone can drive a vehicle without brakes working and there needs to be a recall, because this is such a safety hazard. I would appreciate someone taking responsibility of fixing this issue, since me and other Eclipse 2007 owners have taken initiative to fix our vehicles. There are several complaints about the brake system and someone needs to become aware of them before one of us kills ourselves in an accident. Thanks.
I have been having problems with the braking system for the last 2 years. When I excelerate the brake light comes on. I checked fluid and everything. I drove it again and had to make not even a sudden stop and the pedal went to the floor board and almost did not stop. I have read all over that there are problems with the same thing on this same model car. Not sure why there is no recall on it yet. I have two small young children and am afraid I one day will not be able to stop. When you press on the brakes there is an air or whistle sound coming from them. The pads and rotors are good and the car is a 2008 with 88,000 miles on it. It has never been hard driven. Not sure what the issue is and if the power brake booster is $139 plus fright charge from out of state and that may or may not be the problem.
Dash pad in vehicle has come apart, completely blocking passenger side airbag. The dash pad is sticking up at least 3 inches in front of airbag. If airbag does deploy ever it will not properly and could cause more harm to passenger and driver. When this first happened my car was only 4 years old. There are several reports online of this happening to these vehicles. I think all affected cars should be fixed, since it is a safety issue on pretty new cars.

Took car to dmv and it won't pass obd-ii test. I have tried three times. Found out that a TSB-03-13-005 was sent out. Which states how to reset so you can pass the emission test. If you disconnect your battery you computer won't reset till you take it to the dealer who charges you hundreds of dollars to reset a problem that they know about but refuse to correct. So every time I need to go to the dmv I first need to visit the dealer so that he can rip me off, and bypass the emission system. Again they know of the issue they posted the TSB 03-13-005. Won't buy or recommend a Mitsubishi Eclipse again.

Both my handles broke off, the drivers side arm rest,( where the buttons for the windows are), fell off and into the cavity below. The convertible top leaks badly along the point where the top meets the car windshield, windows, and back window. Very upset that there are many people with same problem yet no one wants to address the issue. . . Mitsubishi should pay for repairs. . .
My 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse leaks water inside my car on the driver and passenger sides. I now have mildew in my car and because of that I have headaches. When I bought my car I lived in California and it doesn't really rain there so I never noticed it until I moved to mo it rains here all the time and during the summer its very humid and muggy which makes the mold and the smell worse. I called the Mitsubishi dealer ship I asked them since there are so many complaints about this problem can they fix it for me they said no and that they never heard of that problem they are big liars I've been to many web sites about car leaks and they now about this problem the web site Mitsubishi sucks. Com have all the complaints that I found about my car I have the same problem as these people. I will never buy another Mitsubishi agian unforntily I'm stuck with my car until I could afford a new car.
