Headlight Switch Problems of Mitsubishi Eclipse

The contact owns a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The contact stated that the column switch lever became detached while attempting to turn the vehicle. The lever was replaced. The manufacturer stated that his VIN was excluded from recall # 99v305001 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer:switch/wiring). The purchase date was unknown. The current mileage is 83,000 and failure mileage was 72,000.

A few things to complain about. . . My head light on the left the adjuster was broke on it when I purchased the car so my headlight shines down, also on the left side the bumper light everytime I change the bulb it goes out within 24 hours, also my turn signal switch broke, I had to purchase a new one, I purchased my car from renn kirby I was not told about the recall nor was it installed I had to install it myself. . . The contact stated while driving at night the headlights malfunctioned. The vehicle was taken to a certified dealership. Upon inspection the dealer determined that the wiring harness to the head lights melted. Also, the oil light was coming on intermittently. The oil valve was replaced. These repairs were made at the contact's expense. . . . Headlights did not blink but went off altogether. When the consumer reported it to the dealer, was told we see this all the time with that make and model. Consumer wanted to know why there was no recall.

The headlights turn on at random times. My auto repair center says it is a known issue, but the recall covers vehicles made up to the month before mine was made. I have the same problem as described in nhsta campaign # 99v305001.
