Two problems related to axle assembly have been reported for the 1996 Mitsubishi Galant. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Received notice #99v066001. Contacted dealer. Right front wheel came off due to ball joints breaking. Axle broke & went into transmission. Lost control. Manufacturer refused to repair because ball joints did not break the right way.
The front axle collapsed (broke) when going over a pothole, loss of total steering control.
