Air Conditioner Problems of Mitsubishi Galant

The contact owns a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle would sporadically slip into the neutral gear. The failure increased the risk of an injury. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the core line pressure in the transmission failed. The entire transmission needed to be replaced at the cost of $5,200. She is in the process of having the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer stated that because her vehicle exceeded its warranty, they would not assume any financial responsibility. The failure and current mileages were 137,000. Updated 10/28/08 the consumer stated the vehicle stalled, there were heating and air problems, all the buttons stopped working, both headlights had to be replaced. Updated 10/29/08.

The contact owns a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant. Whenever the vehicle begins to get hot, the air conditioner begins to blow hot air. The contact also noticed that the low oil light would occasionally illuminate on the instrument panel. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. The current mileage was 233,000 and failure mileage was 226,000.

Air conditioner leaks inside the car on drivers side and in front and behind drivers seat floor mats literally drips with water and floor is soaking wet. We purchased the car with a bumper to bumper 100,000 mile extended warranty from hampton Mitsubishi 4895 johnston st lafayette, la 70503. They told us this problem is not covered by extended warranty. I am so frustrated and feel so deceived and have vowed to never purchase another Mitsubishi car and will not recommend misubishi cars to anyone.

Leaking a/c evaporator into floorboard of drivers and passenger side. Used a dependable local mechanic to work on the problem. The leaking evaporator has been cleared twice by the mechanics and after spending over $600. 00 the problem is yet to be resolved. Mitsubishi corporate has yet to recall this but the more you research the more you understand that this is not an uncommon occurrence. The 2001 Galant has a significant backgound of documentation from this ongoing problem and Mitsubishi will not stand behind there product while knowing there is a major problem. In short I will not buy or recommend Mitsubishi products again.

Air conditioner belt has busted 3 times. If engine pulley sits still too long it wears belt out if not repaired in time. Dealer was notified. Please add more information.

On febuary 16 I notice that the air was blowing out hot air I went to southlake to get my window etching security set up they said that it was fine well that was in the cold season so I had no need to use the air then atlanta expericed a couple of hot days and I need to use my air for sure then but the same thing had happen all over again so I went back to southlake Mitsubishi on 03/19/02 the customer service person told me to bring it back on 03/20/02 and I left it, about 10. 00 am mr. Dain jones contact me and informed me that a rock had hit my air compresser and puntured a hole in it and it was not a warranty issue I just don't belive this can happen I am not a machanic but I have commom sense please if some one would contact me as soon as possible I would appreciate it.

Ac unit released a gaseous smell. , smoke gushed out from hood. . . . There was a loud pop sound that resembled a tire blowing out. . . . The complete system to my car shut down and engine included. The car would not restart for approximately 4 hours. . . . . And that was only after I had spent 165. 00 on a tow truck to tow the car over 75 miles.

A/c not working properly not any where near as cold as it should be. Brought back to Mitsubishi in serramonte around 4 time. They completely took apart dashboard and the a/c in 2003 and said they found metal shavings in some part of the a/c unit and fixed it. Well now it's 4 years later and it never really worked right. This is a problem since the car was bought new in 2000. I just gave up trying to get this a/c to work properly but a friend told me I should post it with the NHTSA.

The vehicle has a defective compressor.
