Front Suspension Problems of Mitsubishi Galant

I purchased my vehicle used from a dealership here locally, and have had problems with it ever since I bought it in late may of 2007, my brakes have started to squeak, I overheated due to either a faulty water pump and/or thermostat, and I have noticed that the steering pulled slightly to the right, and I put new tires on it and it was aligned before purchased. The dealership I bought it from may only be able to run a diagnostics on it, and might not have the tools to fix it. The nearest Mitsubishi dealership is 180 miles away. Warranty covers water pump and a rental of up to $35 a day, but in order to get a rental, I have to get a diagnostics done to make sure it is a covered component under my warrany I won't be able to get a diagnostics ran for at least several days, leaving me without a vehicle. Dealership refused to loan a car off of the lot.

The contact owns a 1997 Mitsubishi Galant. While driving various speeds, the vehicle would constantly pull to the right. The vehicle was taken to a collision shop and they stated that the passenger side front shock tower and wheel well wall was completely rusted. Metal was welded to reinforce the shock tower. Approximately two years later, the front driver's side shock tower and wheel well wall rusted through with more extensive damage. The current mileage was 107,000 and failure mileage was 97,000.

The front steering goes off center, whenever tires are rotated, or new tires are installed on the front. Re-alignment is necessary to get the steering back to center.

When driving at any speed vehicle will pull to both right and left, causing loss of vehicle control. Consumer has contated the dealer, dealer yet to determine the cause of problem. Please provide any further details.

Front end suspension is vibrating and pulsating when consumer is driving vehicle. This can happen at any time. Contacted dealer, and the dealer is not willing to do anything.

While driving about 60-65 mph steering wheel will start vibrating and front of vehicle feels like is going to come apart. Had taken vehicle to dealer, and they said that problem was with front end.

Front end vibration when driving at highway speed of 65 or more mph. Vehicle been in / out of dealer shop on six occasions, and wasinformed that nothing could be founded. Feel free to provide any further details on this matter.

Consumer took vehicle in to dealer for a noise that was coming from front end. Dealer told consumer it was front passenger tire. Consumer took tire to goodyear dealer to have it inspected. Dealer said it was not the tire. Consumer went back to Mitsubishi, and they claimed that they adjusted air pressure. As starting to drive noise was still there. A week later, dealer said they received a paper off computer indicating that Mitsubishi was aware of problem. Mitsubishi said tire and rim were not meeting up.

Steering vibrates when driving vehicle. Then, vehicle will wonder left and right intermittently. Consumer stated that he talked with dealership, and mechanic told him that they couldn't duplicate the problem.

Rotors were defective when applying brakes vehicle vibrated/ front ends was misaligned. And tires warped. Consumer took vehicle to t dealership four or more times.

While traveling on the highway steering will begin to shake and vibrate sometimes hard, sometimes notat all. Consumer has experienced the same problem as recall00v225001, team mitsibishi says that they have this problem listed under recalls.

Steering wheel was extremely vibrating, and sometimes it makes consumer lose control. Dealer had told consumer there was a problem with the front suspension.

When driving at any speed and applying brakes vehicle is pulling to the left or right. Also, and there is some knocking noise coming from the vehicle.

Front passenger's seat belts would not retract but half way & then lock up. Would not retract to original position after locking up. Vehicle would also shake when brakes are applied. Vehcle drifts hard to the right at any speed. The tires needed alignment. Had taken vehicle to dealership only once for problems.

Vehicle drifts to the right due to front caster values not being within specification. As of o8/18/97, left front caster was 2. 6 degrees and right front caster was 3. 9 degrees. Manufacturer's specified range is 2. 8 to 5. 8 degrees, a difference of 1. 3 degrees.

While driving down the street and upon applying brakes, front end shimmied and shook, almost lost control . Contacted dealer, and he replaced the rotors. A month later, the same problem occurred, and dealer replaced tires/bushing, and rotors.

I noticed a vibration during brake application and at highway speeds. I had the tires rotated, then balanced then front rotors turned, then front rotors replaced, then front wheels re-balanced. I was then told of a "new" service bulliten covering the front end lower swing arm replacement. After working on my vehicle an entire day (following waiting a month to get the part and schedule mx) I was told that the car already has the "new" bushing and they did not know what was wrong with it. Now I hear a "clang" in the front end when decelerating or accelerating and can feel it through the steering wheel. And of course, the front end still vibrates at high way speeds.

Vehicle vibrates and pulls to the side consumer states she purchased new tires and firestone told her that tires should not have worn out in such a short time, possibile suspension problems may have contributed to the vibration of vehicle .
