This is regarding multiple recalls for my vehicle. I purchased the vehicle in st. Thomas virgin islands from budget rent a car in 2013. There has been 3 recalls for my vehicle since then I was not notified, only through research I found out. I've called the budget dealer, essentialy told me its my problem, called Mitsubishi, they have no contact number but gave me a url for the global website, which has no contact info. I'm at a loss and have no options left. I personally do not know if all these recalls pertain to my vehcile, but numerous mechanics told me that there is a problem with the engine around the belt area. I hope this reaches someone that can assist.

I went to a recall service for sunroof and drive belt on April 09,2018. Today, after one year I'm waiting yet for the Mitsubishi call because the parts was unavailable, so they ordered them. I called many times, they said the drive belt arrived but not the sunroof. They have the drive belt and did not call me to install it. My a/c compressor stop working, I'm not sure but somebody told that this drive belt and a/c compressor works together. Today I received a postal letter from Mitsubishi to warning about the sunroof again. One year ago I went with the car for inspection and I still waiting.

2009 Mitsubishi Lancer. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle drive belt system issues. The consumer stated a recall was issued for the exact problem he experienced. The vehicle stalled and had to be towed. Recall # 14v562000.
I received a recall notice for the drive belt, however, the dealer stated that the parts are on back order. I explained that the car is making a noise and I am concerned about the safety of driving the car. Their response is that I should bring the car in to get looked at. This now involves me having to take time off from work so that I can take it there which is about 40 minutes from my home. If it is the drive belt, there is nothing they can do anyway. I feel that it is negligent and a lack of consideration for the safety of the people driving the cars to have a recall and then have parts on back order. The manufacturer knows there is going to be a recall long before they announce it and send out notices. I have tried calling Mitsubishi customer service at 888-648-7820 and have been on hold for 20 minutes and still no one has picked up.

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Rwk.
Received vehicle at 10km, after 2 oil changes, at 16000km miliege dropped from 700km on a tank of gas to 300km tank of gas. At 24000km heavy transmission and engine noises occurred. Gears slipping out while accelerating causing rpms to shoot up to 6000-7000 while vehicle not moving. Timing belt and pulleys not working properly causing to much engine noise. Metal grinding and whistling sound coming from under carriage of vehicle. Rear differential and cv joint problem. Reported problem to dealership and techincians each time I go in. Their response is its just tire noise and your vehicle is running smoothly each time. Now at 68,000 km, rear differential is gone, engine barely holding up, suspension on driver side is is lower than passenger side. Wheel bearing noises present. 4x4 awc system isn't working. Vehicle is dragging and is at quarter efficiency. On time with service and oil change, keep bringing up same complaints and reported back that its just tire noise. All 4 tires changes, brakes changed and rotors. Now that things are breaking down. Dealership at bank street Mitsubishi denies doing any negligence over the course of 4 years and saying our techs wouldn't have missed those problems. Vehicle taken to 6 local mechanics and all reporting same problem, taken to other Mitsubishi dealerships and reported negligence on technicians and mechanics from bank street Mitsubishi that these issues should have been done in the past since they are defects. Called Mitsubishi canada. Manager there says our techs are one of the best at that location. Now they want to void warranty due to their mistakes since parts need to be replaced. Service manager doesn't want high invoice bills. While repairing parts, techs damaging others. And not reporting it. Making costumers pay for techs mistakes. Issue still on going. Manager and techs avoiding accountability for their actions.

The contact owns a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer ralliart. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled several times without warning . The contact inspected the vehicle and found that the serpentine belt was severed. The serpentine belt was replaced but the failure was not corrected. The serpentine belt continued to fracture and the tires were wearing prematurely due to a defective tire chamber. The front outer tie rod and the bushings were replaced but the failure was not corrected. The front tires continued to wear prematurely. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failure and the dealer advised the contact that the technician could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 97,178.
My 2006 Mitsubishi evolution 9 started to make abnormal engine noises audible within the cab. The car has been serviced regularly and is more than well kept. . . The noise comes from within the timing belt cover and sounds much like a washing machine. This noise is also well documented among evo 9 owners. Here is a link to the thread. . Read more...

A couple months ago, I noticed a squeaking sound coming from the passenger side of my engine when my car was idling. After the car warmed up (5-10 min), the sound would go away. The sound appeared to be belt related so I checked the serpentine (accessory) belt and noticed signs of wear and tear on the belt and the idler pulley . I changed the belt out (was close to recommended replacement date anyway) but the sound is still there. I searched the internet and found that this problem is quite common with 2006 evolution owners and there is no definite fix from the dealer. This needs to be addressed by the manufacturer because the wear and tear created by the belt/pulley (or whatever the culprit may be) could easily lead to a failure in one of the accessory systems (alternator, water pump, power steering) and could be dangerous to my car or even worse to me.
Car needs to be sitting at an idle speed, and first started becoming audible a few months ago, but was intermittent. I took the car into the dealer and they did not have a fix and blamed it on the valves needing adjustment and my serpentine belt. The valves on this particular car are hydraulic and do not need servicing and when I removed my own serpentine belt, the noise was still audible! it is definitely coming from the timing belt area and sounds like it is almost hitting or scraping something! its a serious concern as I don't need a timing belt failure while driving out on the road, due to a manufacturers defect in one/some of the timing belt components!! the scraping noise at idle is almost daily when hot or cold, it doesn't matter anymore. I've also taken it to another dealer recently and they said they were aware of the issue, but there is no fix and its quite common for my vehicle!.
I first noticed that my 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer evolution rs started to make a grinding/scrapping noise that seemed to be generating from the timing belt area when my car had approximately 35,000 miles on the odometer. It seemed to be a noise that was present at idle and upon cold start ups and now occasionally I hear it even when the car is fully warmed up. I started to research this on various forums and internet, only to find that it was a common problem with a clear solution. There have been a few dealerships who have seemed to have resolved this issue but each fix seemed to vary within the timing belt area. The timing belt, sensor blade, tensioner, tensioner pulleys, etc. Have been known to cause this issue. This car is my daily driver and about 90% of the times my kids are in this car with me. It would be terrible if my engine breaks down on me while driving around with my kids in the car. This can be a dangerous problem. I urge Mitsubishi to strongly consider a recall for this. With such an amazing car I would hope Mitsubishi would standby it and do the right thing!.
In August I noticed a weird noise coming from the timing belt area of my car. The car was perfectly fine and driven normally. I started the car and the noise appeared out of nowhere. The noise sounds like a washing machine and is only present when the car is started up and is cold. After approximately 15 minutes of driving, the noise disappears. I am worried that there is something terribly wrong in that area. I do not want my engine to break.
I first noticed that my 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer evolution rs started to make a grinding/scrapping noise that seemed to be generating from the timing belt area. The car had approximately 18,000 miles on the odometer. It seemed to be a noise that was present at idle and upon cold start ups. I drove my car 3. 5 hrs to an outstanding Mitsubishi dealership which could not diagnosis my problem. It appears that the drive made whatever it was go away for the moment. This scares me! this car is my daily driver and about 90% of the times my kids are in this car with me. It would be terrible if my engine breaks down on me while driving around with my kids in the car. This can be a dangerous problem. I urge Mitsubishi to strongly consider a recall for this. A strange "rubbing, grinding" noise coming from the timing belt area.
Seal for crankshaft pulley wears a ring the the pulley causing the pulley to become loose and leak oil.
Bad bearing noise coming from timing belt area. This is a problem with the timing belt idler pulley. I have had it replaced by the dealer and the exact same noise came back within 10k miles. This noise appeared with 31k miles on the car.
Loud noise coming from the timing belt area. Sounds like a faulty pulley or the belt rubbing on something. Took it into the dealer and they replaced the timing belt idler pulley. Before I left the dealership I told them I still hear the same sound just quieter. They told me if it gets louder to come back. That was about a month ago and it has gotten louder since. My concern is catastrophic engine failure. Nobody has been able to properly diagnose the issue. This could cause a serious accident if severe engine failure occurred at speed.
