Three problems related to brake disc pads have been reported for the 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Braking produces squeaking and rubbing sounds even after rotors were turned & replaced. Multiple pad replacements over the course of the last 3 years. The repeated rubbing and squeaking sounds occur even after brake service after less than 1500 miles. Transmission: car is "slow" to accelerate and sometimes stales upon acceleration attempts from 0 to 40 miles/hour. Engine check light keeps coming on. . . . O2 sensor(s) replaced. . . . . Catalytic converter problem??????? the car passed its emmission control inspection.
While driving could step on the brakes pedal and noticed a lack of braking. Had taken vehicle four times to dealer for brakes pads to be replaced, but problem still occurs.
Replacing brake pads every 2 months. . Constant squeaking on front brakes.
