The contact stated that after having repairs to the vehicle under NHTSA campaign id number: 01v254001 (service brakes, hydraulic:power assist:vacuum), the brake booster started to make a loud noise when the brakes were applied. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who diagnosed that the hydraulic brake booster accumulator was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer of any assistance since the vehicle had been previously repaired under the recall. The vehicle was not further repaired. 2 Brake Loud Noise problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2011

The contact owns a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero. The contact stated that a loud noise could be heard while driving and applying the brakes. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the contact was informed that the brake booster accumulator was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance because the vehicle was previously repaired under the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 01v254001 (component: service brakes, hydraulic:power assist:vacuum). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mleages were 161,801.

3 Brake Loud Noise problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2007

The contact owns a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero. While driving at 65 mph the contact heard a loud noise underneath the vehicle. The dealer confirmed that the noise was directly related to recall # 01v254001 for the service brakes,hydraulic: antilock. The manufacturer stated that this vehicle was excluded from the recall due to the VIN. The contact stated that the noise became more frequent since it began one week ago. The contact was aware of the safety risk involved. The current mileage was 124,300, and failure mileage was 124,352.
