8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2014

On July 8, 2014 I noticed that when I applied the brake pedal, I would hear a noise from the left side of my truck. I wasn't sure what it was and I asked a few friends to look at it. One indicated that it had to do with the brake assist and found under the hood where the noise was coming from. After that I did some research on the item and found through safecar. Gov that this vehicle was apart of a recall from 2001 for the accumulator that is installed on the hydraulic brake booster. I am not the original owner of the vehicle and proceeded it to go the local dealer to have them fix this. I was told that the car had been fixed under the recall back in Nov 2001 and due to this they refuse to fix the item. I filed a complaint direct with Mitsubishi (1246177365). This is obviously a known safety hazard and the Mitsubishi refused to fix a problem they know exists. How do I know if the part they replaced isn't also faulty. The recall report indicated that over a period of time, it could result is leakage of the pressurized nitrogen gas from inside the accumulator and could result in a crash. When I asked the cost to repair the item I was advised it would be $2,000. This is simply insane. They know they have a problem so now Mitsubishi raises the prices on the item so they can recoup the costs of the recall.

When I step on the break pedal I hear a buzzing sound coming from the front compartment of the vehicle. The break is not functional since it is hard and stays up while I depress with my foot. 10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2012

I'm driving downhill when my brakes start acting up. It was so hard and no power brakes , I needed to use the hand brakes to make sure I wasn't going hit the car in front of me. Took to the dealer cost a couple hundred bucks for diagnostic and they said my power brake booster needed to be replaced. I cant afford to have it fix right away it cost few thousand bucks for the new one and I don't want put a used one because I'm not sure if its going to last. How come Mitsubishi motors can't help us for this they know these parts are not going to last. That's why they changed it and put a different one on their 2003 and up models.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2011

While heading home from work, I got the surprise of my life. I was driving and my brakes went out. Luckily, I was heading home after the rush hour otherwise I would have been in a major accident. I got off the gas and steered the car to an embankment to slow the momentum. The only logical thing to do at this point was to engage my emergency brake. I called the mechanic immediately who advised me not to drive the car and that they will tow it to the shop. Upon inspection, he informed that the brake booster system (hydraulic brake booster system) as been compromised and it seemed like just faulty manufacturing. Thinking this was an easy fix, I searched for the part. A new surprise appeared, the part was over $1400. 00. Then I found this site. I will attempt to contact the manufacturer and see if they can resolve this issue. If not, Mitsubishi will never have me as a customer ever again.
