On multiple occasions, the horn itself will start blowing without command. After pressing the horn to alert another driver, the horn will then stick again. There are repairs where 3m tape is applied to the horn switch behind the airbag, however it is not a professional repair and looks like it could potentially cause the horn to blow without command again.

Brake lines completely rusted through and I lost all brakes while heading to work, thankfully I was able to pull the emergency brake to slow down and I coasted through a red light blowing my horn so I was not hit. I bought this vehicle brand new with only 3 miles on it and ever since I initially got it , it began to rust. Clearly it was not rust treated as everything under the body and alot under the hood is rusted. There is even metal inside of the vehicle cabin that is rusted, like the gas cap lever. This vehicle should have been recalled many years ago like the outlander due to all of the rust the vehicle gets under it causing thing to fail while its being driven. My vehicle just has a little over 100,000 miles on it and it now sits after that brake incident as I am afraid to drive it seeing all of the rust under it. Even the running boards are all rusted underneath. I am sure that everyone with this model vehicle has experienced the same problem but these vehicles are dangerous on the roads due to everything on them rusting .
Horn on car starts blowing for unknown reason, car was not running and was very cold. I was told this happened because of horn trigger was sensitive to cold weather.
My car has broken down 3 times this year with the same problem. I had it repaired twice, then found out it had an open recall from 2000. I took it to the dealer yesterday, felt they dismissed my situation as I told them the car was doing exactly what the recall described and I was concerned it would happen again. I explained in detail about the 1st two repairs. My car broke down yesterday, after I left the dealer, and was once again undriveable. It is related to the crankshaft bolt. I sent the dealer a very detailed email about this final situation and to let them know I was filing a complaint. No response from them. The recall is regarding a bolt that secures a pulley. Each time this happened, the symptoms were the same, the car starts making rattling noises then will not steer, then is undriveable. These are the exact symptoms described in the recall as "worst case". I bought the car 2 years ago from a dealer but was never notified of an open recall, so just recently discovered it after reading online complaints from others describing the same problem. This third time the car broke down I was driving on a city street, straight, meaning not turning. The other two times I was also driving, but don't remember if I was turning or not. I do have documentation from a previous repair and my visit to the dealer yesterday but don't know how to upload from my phone at this time. The dates the car broke down from the same problem are Feb, 2016, June, 2016 and October 6, 2016. I am desperate to resolve this since I no longer have transportation. Thank you for any help, this has been an extremely frustrating situation starting in February 2016.

I was pulling into my sisters drive which has a big trash dispenser in it & I already had my foot on the brake going about 1mph the SUV lunged forward like I was hit from behind & my vehicle crashed into the trash dispenser & that then hit their fence which bent. There is damage to my front end & now turning the wheels causing scraping of the front tire. This is not the first time I have had it lunge like this. Several times before so took to mechanic he put on machine to see if transmission was going but it was not. I am the original owner of this vehicle &:only one time did I get a recall for a plug to be replaced but there are several others even having to do with brakes. I have had family members in my SUV that can validate issues happening. I hope someone will act on this since I have read this has happened to several others. I have left a phone message also in regards to this. I was so scared I actually was sick to my stomach when I thought what could of happened.
The rear view mirror changes automatically to night vision you can not change it back. It very difficult to see cars behind you with the way it changes and how close they are to you. My daughter backed into someone because she could not tell they were behind her. I have had problems with this also. I think it is a safety hazard. You should be able to adjust the mirror yourself. And you can't.

2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. The horn sounds for no reason, when the temperature drops below 55degrees. I must remove the fuse to silence it. It is state required safety equipment. I contacted the lancaster, PA Mitsubishi dealer but they won't reply. The problem started in the winter when the temperature dropped below 18 degrees. It is 8 months later and a cold August night triggered it.
At about 6pm on December 16, 2010 my dad was parallel parking along the side of the road outside our house, when his November 2009 Mitsubishi Montero Sport (4x2 automatic which just had its 5000 km service) suddenly accelerated forward with very high engine revolution (very loud) and collided with a Mercedes Benz e230 parked just 6 meters away on the side of the road (the impact was so strong that the e230 moved about 3 meters as evidenced by the tire skid marks)! this happened even when my dad was stepping hard on the brakes! after colliding with the mercedes, the montero did not stop but continued forward at high speed (still my father was stepping hard on the brakes!). My father saw a passing Toyota revo infront of him and a tricycle infront of the revo. So he decided to hit an electric post (68 meters away from our house) to stop the montero! fortunately, he missed the electric post by half a meter and instead side swiped our neighbor's wall and then collided with a palm tree. After hitting the tree, my father said that the montero still jerked forward a couple of times before stopping. After colliding with the Mercedes Benz, side swiping a wall, and hitting a tree, the airbags did not deploy! it was only very fortunate that my father shifted his body to the front passenger side so his head did not hit the windshield. Mitsubishi blamed the floor mat in its official investigation report! the same type of floor mat they are selling in their dealership! Mitsubishi did not even mention in its official investigation report why the airbags in my dad's montero did not deploy during the accident. My dad rejected Mitsubishi's official report but he accepted the offer from Mitsubishi to buy back his montero at 80% of original cost. Mitsubishi will not cover the damage to the Mercedes Benz because they said that the accident was not the fault of the montero.

Brakes, grind and squeak, had them checked was told that they were fine. Also had a front wheel allignment due to right pulling!!!! and also I have experienced when front windows are rolled up and the back are down,,you do have air pressure that is not good!!!! all complaints that have been noted by previous consumers are right on the money as far as this Montero Sport vehicle, and something should be done to avoid incurring problems.
