1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2026

Automatic emergency breaking sometimes occurs while driving in rainy weather even when there are no obstructions in the front of the vehicle. This causes spinouts and exccessive wear and tear on break pads and rotors. Also, many shops and dealerships are having issues with putting 2022 year model Outlanders in "maintenance mode" to be able to change rear ebs brakes. Due to this you cannot drive your vehicle and/or rish not having proper break functions. This is urgent!!!.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2026

Battery issues, car uses excessive power causing battery to fail. This has caused car to stop working completely while driving. I’ve seen several forums with the same complaints. This stalling out and loss of all electronics while driving is extremely dangerous. This has occurred multiple times since I’ve owned this vehicle.

My key fog plus my emergency key fog aren't connecting or linked to my car. Even after I changed the batteries. Twice. I'm not able to unlock my door or turn on my car. I was out of town and locked my keys in the car. I wasn't able to unlock it even with the my Mitsubishi connect smartphone link. I called customer service and they weren't able to unlock it as well. So I had to get roadside assistant. I was stranded in the middle of nowhere. Hours away from home on a Sunday and all dealerships were closed.

Radio does a hard reset all on its own, we lose backup camera, alerts and all safety functions that are built into the radio for adjustment. Also get collision warning stating it’s not working. Radio is no longer working. We asked the dealer and they said it’s going to be a recall very soon when we went in for an oil change.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2025

When opertaing vehicle it my parking sensor error message was given giving false reading. I was told because of this scratch I need to replace the sensor. I think its a bad design flaw n there are charging me 800 in parts and labor even though its under warranty this can cause false reading and some one can get hurt.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2025

For the past 3 winters since I had this vehicle when it is cold outside the vehicle starts hard or will not start at all requiring a jump. It will not shift gears, or accelerate. The battery light comes on after the vehicle is running. I have called the local dealership and was told this happens when it is cold. I was told to bring the car in and let it sit there when it's cold so they can try and re create the problems they stated the battery is fine. As of today the vehicle started to leak oil after it started hard. When I purchased the vehicle I had noticed the hood shakes and bounces when driving. I mentioned this to the sales agent and they stated it was a known issue and they would recall the hood but it was a timely process. It is unsafe to drive a vehicle that will not accelerate or change from reverse to park and then roll it is also. Unsafe to drive with oil leaking in your car I have made my vehicle available each time there is a situation the battery light comes on but has been tested at the dealership in the last 2 months this happens every time it's cold I call and they tell me itsa known issue when it's cold. When I purchased the vehicle I noticed the hood bouncing I asked the sales person about it and they said it was a known issue and they would fix it when the parts came in. I should have been more careful as it was a vehicle right off the truck.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2025

The vehicle is not starting in 20 degree fahrenheit needing to be jumped every time it is cold. The phev has a full battery and there is gas in the tank and it has been doing this lately. Every test is coming back okay from the dealer now it says service engine.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2024

While driving down the highway at 70 mph, my 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander sel suddenly shut off without warning, causing the entire dashboard and instrument cluster to go dark. In a matter of seconds, the vehicle unexpectedly braked on its own, decelerating from 70 to 0 mph in an extremely short distance. This abrupt stop nearly caused an 18-wheeler behind me to rear-end my vehicle. Thankfully, the truck driver was able to swerve just in time, narrowly avoiding a catastrophic collision. The situation could have resulted in severe injuries or fatalities. During the incident, all power to the vehicle was lost. The brakes became unresponsive and impossible to press, and the steering became extremely difficult to control, making it nearly impossible to maneuver the vehicle safely. This is the fifth time my vehicle has experienced this issue, with the past three instances almost ending in serious accidents due to the car’s complete failure to respond. After a few seconds of total power loss, the vehicle inexplicably starts back up on its own and operates as if nothing had happened. Despite this recurring and life-threatening malfunction, the dealership has been unable to identify or fix the problem after four repair attempts. Each time, they’ve tried different fixes: 1. Initially, a software update was performed. 2. Next, the adas controller was replaced. 3. Then, the body computer was swapped out. 4. Now, they are attempting to replace a power distribution system. Even after these numerous interventions, the problem persists, and the dealership has no clear understanding of the underlying cause. They have viewed a video of the incident that I provided, but no actual solution has been identified. The dealership has resorted to seeking advice from other brand technicians in an attempt to resolve the issue, but to date, there is no resolution in sight. This defect poses an imminent danger to my safety and the safety of others on the road.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2024

The hood vibrates. It looks as if the hood is popped, but not actually unlatched. I had the update done on my backup camera, and now it's starting to glitch with lines that go across the whole screen. It reminds me of regular nintendo in the '90s glitching out. And having to restart the whole system.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2024

The battery in the key fob died. Upon attempting to turn the car on, the car completely shut off. Nothing works and is completely blacked out as if the battery is dead. Jumping the car with jumper cables rebooted the system but the same thing will happen only when the battery in the key fob dies.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2024

While driving or coming to a stop, the engine will shut off, the infotainment system will reboot and the car needs to be stopped, put into park if it hadn't done so and turned back on. It does this randomly and because the dealer cannot recreate it, it constantly gets ignored. We are not sure why this happens but it is extremely unsafe.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2024

I was driving and my car brakes suddenly then all of the lights came on and the vehicle shut down. Once I got the vehicle back started the malfunction light stayed on and is still on and it says to contact your nearest dealer in which u did and was told I would receive a callback and I am still waiting on the call. It has been over 5 hours.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2024

Car suddenly freezes and no system works. Won’t start, shift, whole electric system gone. Happened several times. Very dangerous and dealer has no idea what’s wrong. Can’t get anyone at Mitsubishi to respond. Only had car 6 months and it has $36,000 miles.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2024

Radio is goin off and on.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2023

This vehicle has been deteriorating since around the 10-15k miles. One of the recalls should have fixed something that was happening to my heater /ac not turning on. I would turn on the vehicle and the fan wouldn't turn on. I had turn off and restart the vehicle. This has happened multiple times. The display panel will turn off randomly while driving. The main problem is my car drifts to side. Really bad. I feel really unsafe in it. I had to pay outside company to see what it was and have them continue to align my tires because it gets so shaky. I can't even attach a hitch to this. The car shifts to the sides really bad, even over the smallest bumps at low mileage. Someone from one of the dealerships told me there was nothing wrong with my tires (I asked them to check it when I went for a recall). I was told the vehicle feels different b/c Mitsubishi motor is now made by Nissan. He thought I was dumb or something. I haven't been able to get this fixed b/c idk what to do. Im not hte car expert. They are. I have to constantly align the wheels but I've pretty much exhausted how many times I can get them aligned. Now apparently my shocks are bad? and Mitsubishi won't sell the shocks to an outside auto repair shop.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2023

The gas meter to read how much gas you have isn’t reading properly. When the car gets down to 60 miles to e the entire car shuts off.

The passenger side mirror will not tilt down when in reverse. The side orange button is on reflecting the right passenger mirror is selected when in reverse but still does not tilt down. The back up camera is also blacking out after the recall for such. I was not experiencing issues with the back up camera before the recall.

When driving on highway hood bounces like it isn't latched but when I pulled over to check it was latched. . Scary to drive above 50mph. . . Also, backup screen goes black/blank occasionally when reversing as well as when driving down road. . Dealership says they documented but no recalls on it.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2021

This car is a lemon. First the hood. Finally got that fixed. Then seat belts & fuel injection piece. . . Got fixed. Then a whole piece fell off and was in my driveway. Took it to dealership & was told no way this was from my car because it was from and old lancer that isn't made anymore. Then turned out it was in fact uses on my car. They took awhile but then replaced part. It was something for ac exhaust. Now it's the brake system giving me random mesaages while driving that brake system is out but dealership cant duplicate measage and said my brakes are in "good" shape. What do I do? wait for them to go out & I get into a serious accident? also and rear camera going out when I'm reversing. Dealership couldn't duplicate it and said it was fine. Kept happening, I went back & they finally said Mitsubishi can't figure it out & I just have to wait. Now the collision system is saying it's not functional and to be aware that it's "off. " now I'm nervous the structure of the top of my car is bad since I read that's another recall and the whole car needs to be replaced. I have had nothing but 1 bad thing after another with this car and it's frustrating. Why can these "off the manufacturer line for these 2022 Outlanders" be completely recalled and cars replaced. Many to most of us that bought these cars have children we commute with everyday all day. This isn't safe. Help us all out Mitsubishi! please!.
