On 07/01/2022 low beam & high beams went out at the same time. Driving without headlights at night when they went out. Could have hit anything not knowing I didn't have any lights. Someone yelled at me from another vehicle to let me know my lights wasn't on keep turning lights on nothing. Made appt. With york Mitsubishi they seen me on 07/19/2022 they said the etacs need to be replace control unit, time & al8637 power to fuse block no power to fuse @14. 15 to light plugs, etacs wont ground -> will not power relay -> to power fuses -> to power bulbs.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the low beam head light failed to illuminate. Also, while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would not properly accelerate. In addition, water was present coming into the floor boards of the vehicle. The cause of the failures were not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 49,000.
I was driving tonight and my lights went out, ( for the 3rd time) I have replaced these lights twice already the last time being a few months ago. . . Now they both go out while driving! I have owned several Mitsubishi cars and this is the first one I have had so many issues with the lights! this is a huge safety issue! something needs to be done about this before someone gets hurt. . . Or worse killed!.
I purchased my vehicle 11/3/19, traded in my 2016 Mitsubishi for 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander. 3 days later my lights went out and I took the car to victory Mitsubishi dealership in the bronx and they said it was a loose fuse. They tighted the fuse and my lights came on. On 11/26/19, I was on the cross bronx high way in traffic and drove but could not stop the car. My brakes failed. I got off the highway and called the police and geico. The police did not come and I had the car towed to juniors automotive center in the bronx. My geico adjuster will inspect the car on 12/4/19. I should not be going through this. I know my car will eventually be repaired but I do not feel safe driving the car.

takata recall I got into a three collision accident on a city highway. When I was braking to avoid the accident it kept on moving like it ways delayed. I believe that the accident could of been preventable if my brakes was aware that my feet was on it. It's like the car was doing it's own thing. There could be more things unknown going on with the car. I just brought this car 2 months ago.
Following I just sent to Mitsubishi headquarters I see recalls for transmissions for my make and model and year that states transmission fail prematurely between the miles of 114,000! and 179,000 and mine did at 137,000 it is now stating for 4 model years 2 of which are 2011&2013. What was the difference for 2012 transmission when yes indeed my year of 2012 transmission failed prematurely? it did just as your recall states and then when I put in my VIN# I am told it wasn't my skipped year that was part of the recall. Later down the road months later I recheck and my year newly became skipped for this transmission recalls. I believe there was more than one reason for your recall. Can you do the right by the car I bought from you folks and replace the faulty transmission that was put in my car? you: I have a 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander. I broke down on the interstate and had my car towed to the Mitsubishi dealer and their service dept said my transmission is shot due to a secondary code that the cvt has non operational pressure with an internal weak oil pump which caused the failure. And it would be 7,500$ just for a new transmission and an additional 800$ to put it in. I believe there was a recall skipping my year car being a 2012 Outlander. I bought it new and have always had different problems with it. One of which back in 2016 the pinion seal for the transfer case was faulty and it took me to demand checking why I was getting a leak of oil left on my clean garage floor. I bring that up as to could this be one of the causes of transmission failure? I did have it replaced under warranty which never would have happened if I didn't notice the leak myself. While I am at it my heat and ac have been barely been acceptable for keeping us warm in the cold winters here and ac not performing very well either. My car is now stranded at the burlington Mitsubishi dealer.

Low beam headlamps have been going completely out. This happened when in motion on a highway . It is difficult to navigate and be seen when this happened. I have taken the vehicle to a Mitsubishi dealer for repair but the problem has recurred 4 times. I have been told a relay was burnt out three times and had been replaced. Another time I was told there was an internal short. Usually the repair only lasts 3-4 weeks and then the lights go out again. This last time was only 2. 5 weeks since it was last repaired. This has been incredibly frustrating and not to mention dangerous. This has occurred 8/29/18, 8/10/18, 7/11/18, 6/~13/18.

I was driving on the highway at 70 mph and without warning both of my low beam lights went out. I checked fuses and the next time I used the car the lights worked. My wife used the car one night and was driving on a dark country road and the lights once again went out without warning. She was very upset and returned home immediately. Luckily she was not too far from home. I found a recall for the 2009 Outlander that sounded just like of my problem (sr-15-002; etacs ecu). I called Mitsubishi and they said there was no recall on my vehicle and that I should take it to the dealer. I took it to the dealer and they verified the problem was the etacs ecu. They said my car was made 4 months outside the recall window but they contacted Mitsubishi to see if they would authorize the repair. Mitsubishi declined to authorize the repair. I contacted Mitsubishi for a written reason why , but they have not responded to date. I feel that this is a safety issue which should be covered by a recall.

My vehicle has been recalled. Mitsubishi insists I take it to one of their dealerships. The nearest dealership is 228 miles and 3. 5 hours roundtrip. I believe they should allow me to go a different local dealership that is 20 mins. Roundtrip to fix the problem and that they should pay for it as well. It is their mistake why do I have to pay for it with my time and money? please help.

Rear side marker lights have corrosion issues at the connection from the wiring harness to the bulb assembly. Normally only bulb replacement would be required, but the bulb was good, the wiring harness is what corroded. Definitely a risk of shorting exists. This occurred within a year on both sides of the vehicle and were replaced by new factory assemblies which have a different design than what was installed on the vehicle at the factory. These assemblies of new design do not have replaceable bulbs. Due to the corrosion at the harness, proper repair requires soldering and sealing the new assembly to the old wires, as there is no replacement socket for these wires. When coupled with potential fuel filler neck leaks as reported in other complaint, this defective design with potential for shorting (and no proper method of repair short of splicing) could pose a rather serious safety risk.

Hi,
when you have the a/c on max and your head lights on the lights dim every time the a/c compressor kick on and stays dim until the compressor kicks off. I took it to the dealer they said the battery was bad and replaced it. The problem was still there they had me bring it back in and they kept it for seven hour and called me to come pick it up they found nothing wrong. They said there was no dimming and the alternator is putting out fine with everything turned on. I still have the problem and when going down the road depending on how much the compressor is kick it looks like you are flashing your lights at the car ahead of you. If you go on Mitsubishi forum web site this has been a problem from 2003 to 2011 and people are being lied to by the dealers. I have been told by other machines that the alternators are to small and being stressed and will fail. I have a lot of traveling to do starting next month to other states I need this fixed. I worry about being behind a police officer with my lights flickering.

The brake switch malfunctioned. There is failure of the brake lamps to illuminate when the brakes are applied. This can result in an accident. I was told that my particular vehicle was not included in the initial recall for this issue. This vehicle should be included in the recall.
Defective headlamp assemblies on 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander. . The headlamp lenses on this vehicle have totally failed. They are milky in color, not the clear they should be, and the lenses themselves are cracked and crazed, but show no impact damage, or damage of any other kind other than deterioration of the plastic itself. The vehicle is very unsafe to drive at night and I would estimate the light output at much less than 50% of what it should be. My local dealer will replace them for a grand total of $1,251. 10 including tax and labor but it is my contention that these items are definitely safety related, and are definitely safety hazard. They should last the life of the vehicle, or at least much longer than they have. I have photographs of these available to email and there is an internet site in the Mitsubishi forums that reports numerous other complaints described almost identically.

the headlamp lenses on my Mitsubishi Outlander 2004 have started to yellow, crack, and degrade in the past 2 years. In researching this on the internet, there are many other Outlander owners for the 2003/2004 model years that have experienced the same problem. The lenses are unsafe and reducing the amount of night illumination that the lights are supposed to provide. In contacting my local dealer they declined to address the problem since the vehicle is out of warranty and referred me to Mitsubishi directly. In contacting Mitsubishi, they acknowledge the defect with a TSB issued in 12/04 but have not classified it as a recall. They have also declined to address the problem. In escalating it within the Mitsubishi organization, case [xxx] was opened and a case manager contacted a local dealer on behalf to see if they would address and they again declined. The dealers want more than $1k in parts and labor to replace the degrading headlamps or they will not do so and mitsu states they have no obligations outside of the warranty period. Headlamps are a safety feature of the vehicle and it is appalling that all acknowledge the poor manufacture of the headlamps (yellowing, cracking, haze), etc. And that this problem is widespread on this model for the 2003/2004 years but no party will take responsibility for fixing. I hope no one has died or dies as a result of not being able to see the road at night due to the reduced illumination resulting from the defect/poor manufacturing.

2003 Mitsubishi Outlander head lamp assemblies have failed. They first became cloudy with small cracks. Eventually those cracks became larger and the head lamp assemblies have filled with water making them inoperable. This began in year five of owning the vehicle. This vehicle has never been in an accident and is parked in a garage overnight.
I also have the cracking light problem which reduces vision at night. Whenever the car was much newer I had taken it in to the dealer for a service compliance and told them about the lights and was told there was nothing they could do except replace the assemblies at about 150-200 dollars per side.
