3 Headlights problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 11/21/2020

This is now my second complaint to you. Again on the headlights this time they went out at the same time while driving on a two lane highway shortly after midnight. Thank god I had high beans even though I'm sure the people I passed didn't appreciate it. Since owning this SUV I have had the bulbs replaced 5 times on the right side and 7 times on the left. Was told by autozone that they believe the seal around the light is causing the moisture to enter and carrode . Not sure if this is the real problem!. The price of these replacement bulbs are not cheap. I have never had an issue like this on any of my vehicles during my lifetime. . . . I see I am not the only one to complain about this issue, I found many complaints by searching the net. . I feel this is a huge safety issue and it needs to be corrected by Mitsubishi.

4 Headlights problem of the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 10/09/2020

I have replaced the lowbeam headlights 7 times in the past year. I dont realize they are out until someone or the police tell me. This is a safety problem.

5 Headlights problem of the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 08/28/2020

Low beam headlights went out simultaneously while travelling with my family within less than a year of owning the new car (2017 Mitsubishi Outlander). The vehicle was serviced at the place of purchase, a Mitsubishi dealership, to replace the bulbs which again went out within 7 months. Next, the bulbs were replaced at the Mitsubishi dealership only to lose them again on vehicle startup 12 - 13 months later. I was left with no lights in the dark and subject to getting to an area of safety with family in the car. I am diligent with preventive maintenance & refuse to believe that this issue is an isolated condition with the oem bulbs as they continue to fail in the same moment.

6 Headlights problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 03/15/2020

On random when driving on several occasions my headlight will go out. Both at the same time. This morning while driving on the highway to work, the lights both just went completely out leaving me in the dark. I had to drive with my brights on for safety. The second problem in the acceleration, you can push the gas but it is has no power to go and hesitate.

7 Headlights problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 02/07/2020

My headlights keep going out. I have had to replace them about 5 times in 3 years. I even had them professionally put in at the shop, and now less than a year later, I can't even drive my son to school because they are both out again.

8 Headlights problem of the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 12/15/2019

My interior lights do not work properly. Initially when I noticed the problem, one side was working and the other one was not. Now, none of the lights works. Additionally, my headlights are not working properly either.

9 Headlights problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 10/21/2019

Since we've owned this vehicle, we have had nothing but issues with the lights. At night, you can hardly see. When I addressed with service, I was told that this was a known issue and to resolve, I would need to buy the newer model. The headlights have been replaced by my husband about a dozen times! this morning when I left for work, they are out yet again. This is now a safety issue! about two months ago, I was coming home on route 95 in 8 lanes of traffic without headlights because they went out again. At this point, we're done! as we speak I'm working with a local dealership to get out of this death trap and I felt it was important to escalate this issue to ensure others are not impacted.

10 Headlights problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 10/20/2019

Vehicle hesitates when trying to accelerate. Loss of power and delay. . Lights inside on on dash flicker and headlights flicker and dim in and out. I do not have any photos. This has been happening for about a year.

11 Headlights problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 10/12/2019

Headlights keep burning out. . Now having to replace for the third time.

12 Headlights problem of the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 02/05/2019

Head lights burned out 3 times in less than one year. Headlights have a life expectancy of more than 1 year. Not sure is static build up and shock is related, but that is ongoing too.

13 Headlights problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 12/23/2018

Low beam headlight bulbs have burned out for the 2nd time since I have bought this car in 1 years time. Last time was September 2018 and now again December 2018. There is no water or condensation inside of the assembly. Just replacing both bulbs and they will work again, but for how long?.

14 Headlights problem of the 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 07/27/2018

Low beam headlights completely failed due to defective etacs ecu. The vehicle was on a highway at night. The vehicle was taken to the Mitsubishi dealer and the defect was confirmed. Mitsubishi was contacted but they will do nothing without NHTSA involvement. In addition, the blower failed due to the etacs ecu so the defroster does not work to keep the windshield clear.

15 Headlights problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 05/18/2018

I purchased my car in September 2015 brand new. I have had to replace my headlights 3 times now. To me that isn't normal.

16 Headlights problem of the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 04/15/2018

I have had the vehicle for only a little over a year (bought it March of 2018 with only 12,046 miles). Since I have had the vehicle, I have had to replace the headlight bulb on the passenger side a total of 4 times and a total of 3 times on the driver side (which is currently blown now, which will make a total of 4 times once I replace it). Once I replace the bulb one side, the bulb goes out on the other side about a week later. A couple of times I have thought a bulb would go out, and it would start working again. I was advised that maybe it was condensation, but there is no condensation. Also, when driving, my radio console turns off and restarts as if I am just starting the vehicle up. Around the time this has happened, a headlight bulb usually blows out. I have contacted Mitsubishi, which I was advised that this is the first time that they heard of this and there are no recalls, but under my own research, I have found multiple forums where owners of Outlanders have had the same issue with their vehicles.

17 Headlights problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 01/15/2018

The contact owned a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander. While driving various speeds at night, the headlights intermittently illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road, waited a while, and was able to resume driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. In addition, the contact crashed into another vehicle while driving 30 mph. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained head injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.

18 Headlights problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 07/03/2017

With just 2,000 miles on the SUV, the driver's side low beam headlight burned out. Replaced it. At 20,000 miles, both low beams burned out at the same time. Replaced them. At 30,000, both low beams burned out again, at the same time. Replaced and contacted dealer with, so far, no response. I've owned almost 10 vehicles over the years - including hids and halogens - and have never had headlights burn out this quickly or at exactly the same time.

19 Headlights problem of the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 03/17/2017

There is a problem with these vehicles. The front headlights need to be replaced every 6 months or less. There have also been problems with the computer. I was driving and the rear camera came on while in drive. I pulled into a parking lot. When I started the car I had no brakes and no power steering. I turned off the car and turned it back on and it was fine. I had it towed in for service and the dealership service center said the computer had no codes to indicate any problem and they can not recreate the problem. Also, the battery has been replaced on this vehicle at least 3 times.

20 Headlights problem of the 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 12/21/2015

The headlight bulbs keep burning out. First one side goes. I replace the bulb and the other side burns out. Then both bulbs on the one side burns out. I replace them and the 2 bulbs on the other side burn out. Dec 21, 2015 all of the headlight bulbs burned out . Not only is this costing a lot of money in mechanic fees but I also got a ticket for a burned out headlight set of bulb on one side I wasn't even aware had burned out. This is a safety hazard and when I realize the light is burned out I have to ride with my highbeams on which is safety hazard for oncoming cars. I have called Mitsubishi and was told there were no recalls on this year and model of Mitsubishi Outlander. I have had this repair done 6 to 8 times this year alone. Sometimes the car is running like last night and sometimes it is parked and when I get ready to use it it has already burned out. Can someone at safer car look into this. I have had the electrical system looked at and it is not the wiring.

21 Headlights problem of the 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 09/03/2013

Horrible design on primary lower beams h1 bulbs headlights. Socket becomes loose and/or fusing tight and burns out quickly. Same design as some japan models like Honda element use of h1 bulb and stanley socket is so dysfunctional. I installed secondary foglight system running on other lines - since lights go out a lot easy in snow and rain. Its been happening for yrs, I bought car used.

22 Headlights problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 07/24/2013

Recently bought a used 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander and the headlight lens on both sides are cracked, extremely crazed and the whole thing is milky, which dulls the headlight at night, I have researched and Mitsubishi will not replace after warranty, it would cost about $1000 to replace the entire headlight assemblies. With all the complaints on this issue, Mitsubishi should do something about it.

23 Headlights problem of the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 01/18/2013

Arrived home after purchase around 8pm. Noticed water condensation inside driver side headlight. Brought back to dealer twice. First time back no answers, second time back they say "it is due to the car sitting in the parking lot for a while, no repaired needed" due to the cold temperature outside and the hot temperature inside the headlamp the water condensation begins to clould the view of actual light thus decreasing visibility on the driver side due to the blocked light. Basically driving with one headlight~ must be a faulty sealed headlamp enclosure that needs to be resealed, recalled, or just replaced.

24 Headlights problem of the 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 07/01/2012

The headlights, both driver and passenger side, keep burning out. Even a brand new bulb will burn out making night driving dangerous even with the glove box stocked full of new bulbs. It appears there may be a leak in the seals (and moisture gets on the halogen bulbs). The lights are also quite difficult to change ( even though I have changed them about 20 times). This is a dangerous malfunction and should be recalled. The only way to fix the problem appears to be completely replacing the headlight units per my mechanic.

25 Headlights problem of the 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

As reported by several other owners of the 2006 model Outlander, which was the only model year to use this specific headlight unit, the low beam bulbs have serious and significant longevity issues. Starting somewhat prior to 2012, I have not been able to keep a low beam bulb (h1 kind) functional for longer than 6-7 months prior to it burning out. I have purchased every brand of bulb, manufactured in 6 different countries, of every price range and they all have the same average 6 month lifespan. I have had both bulbs burn out within days of each other and therefore keep two spares in the vehicle at all times for prompt replacement. Seeing the number of complaints here, I needed to add mine to the mix to encourage action on this issue. I am quite knowledgeable about bulbs and proper handling of bulbs to prevent finger oils from causing weak spots on glass. The bulbs, when burned out, appear to not be damaged via moisture. The internal focusing lens in the headlight assembly is also cracked. There is yellowing and hazing of the plexiglass front of the headlamp assembly. There does not appear to be moisture in the headlamp assembly.

26 Headlights problem of the 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 09/12/2011

The dashboard indicator for the headlight shows the parking light symbol for both the parking lights and the headlights. It is impossible to determine from the dashboard which lights are being used. This could result in driving at night with the parking lights on when headlights are needed. This is an unsafe condition. The headlight symbol should be used whenever the headlights are on.

27 Headlights problem of the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 01/15/2011

The contact owns a 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander. After the vehicle was started, the front headlights failed to operate intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the front headlight bulb needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 15v232000 (electrical system); however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000.

Numerous cracks and some crazing in both headlight lenses on my qw 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander.

29 Headlights problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 09/07/2010

I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander which I purchased new. It has never been in an accident and has been kept in a garage when parked. Both of my headlights have severe cracks and now I have moisture inside the lights.

30 Headlights problem of the 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 08/28/2010

Front headlight assembly on both sides are grazed with small cracks- the passenger side has water in it and doesn't evaporate even in extreme heat. It affects the amount of light for visibility when driving at night. Many people have the same issue with the headlights on the 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander. It will evidently take an accident with possibly serious injury for mitsibishi to do something about this. Where can people go to have this defect corrected and not at the car owners expense, since it is an obvious admitted manufacturer defect.

31 Headlights problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 02/28/2010

My Mitsubishi Outlander headlights are cracked and hazed, this is not from normal use, this is defect in the manufacturing of the headlight assy. They have caused me to slam on my brakes 3 times due to poor illumination of the road. I believe that Mitsubishi should offer to fix the headlights, or offer a discount, not $300 hundred dollars a piece to replace!!!!!.

32 Headlights problem of the 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 08/12/2008

After moving to texas the vehicle inspection station alerted me to the severely degraded headlight lens on both sides. I have restored the surface and sealed the cracks numerous times but they are in need of restoration or replacement again. The lens alone is not available and the whole assembly costs over $200. 00 each. The car was purchased in December of 2003 at the same time I bought my Ford f150 and parked beside the truck every day for more than nine years. The lens on my Ford is still crystal clear, no cracks and looks to be new. The lens on my Mitsubishi is cloudy, cracked and causes my headlights to be very dim. If not for the polymer sealer I am sure there would be water intrusion which would lead to headlamp failure.

33 Headlights problem of the 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 03/05/2008

Headlight lens (covers) has become cloudy and cracked, making headlights very dim to oncoming cars. Dealer says it is a common problem but not covered under warranty. It seems strange that an item that is known by dealers to be a hazardous, illegal ,problem in most states, and that costs owners 700+ dollars would not be recalled.

34 Headlights problem of the 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 07/23/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that the headlights and instrument panel lights dimmed intermittently. The dealer stated that the failure was a normal occurrence. The failure mileage was 100 and current mileage was 1,570.

35 Headlights problem of the 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 06/20/2007

Front suspension has a clunk everytime you turn and start from cero. Radio, backlight is to low and is impossible to read it with sunlight in cold weather the vents for the a/c cycles every 15 seconds and headlight, interior light dim every time. People think you are changing lights when driving at night because of this cycling of vents going on with the a/c on. The system is not normal working. Every Outlander has the same issue. Is kind of annoying to drive at night with the light dimming every 15 to 30 seconds.
