1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 10/06/2020

Vehicle was stationary and smelled of gas. Took to mechanic who provided evidence that the fuel tank is leaking fuel. The mechanic provided pictures of the tank which looks to have abnormal damage. Does not seem that tanks would leak in the evidenced manner. Contacted both Mitsubishi dealership and Mitsubishi manufacturer who could not provide replacement tank in timely manner and were not willing to address the safety issue raised regarding the status of the fuel tank. The vehicle has not been driven far at all due to the pandemic and there has not been a reason to be concerned about damage to the fuel tank from the perspective of the driver/owner.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 10/01/2018

Drive 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander sport. Oct 2018 started experiencing problems with the fuel gauge sender behaving erratically. Fill with gas and may show full tank or 3/4 tank, within less than mile the miles untll next fill will jump up. While driving it will jump all over the place - in less than block it went from 390 to 440. Has been as high as 460. The last time I took it in I went over 300 miles with the fuel gauge showing 3/4 full. Has a 16 gallon tank so on 4 gallons I would have averaged about 75 miles to the gallon. Have included chart of one fill up showing the mileage and what the fuel gauge shows for miles to next fill. Have also included some pictures to show differences. Some instances I park the car and it will show the miles to fill and when I start it again that will have risen by 10's or dropped by 10's. Drive 7 miles one way to work and it has given as many are 6 different readings during the drive. Has been one year and still no fix and am afraid of what will happen next. This happens at all different times - driving on highway, city streets, turning, straight. No consistency, just happens. Have taken it to the dealer several times - they kept it twice for a week each time - and they say there is nothing wrong. Also called Mitsubishi and they say dealer contacted them and there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. At wits end on what to do with it. Any help??? vehicle had just over 20,000 miles when began - currently have just over 24,000. Thank you.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 09/11/2018

Keeping this simple, the car has less than 60,000 miles on it, and I was smelling gas. Took it to the garage, and was told that the gas tank, near the talk, rusted as it probably was not sealed properly. How could this happen, it seems it is right around where it connects together. This is ridiculous, and should be recalled. I noticed that it was on cars, but not on this particular vehicle. This needs to be looked into, as it jeopardized the safety of myself and my child.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 10/25/2017

If u open the lever inside the car to open the door to open it wouldn't open. It happen two times with me. I have to drive it to the dealers to open it. I'm glad I just have enough fuel to get there. To me this is a nerve breaking. U can get stuck if you are far driving and u cannot open the door to put gas. Now I bring it to the dealer service again they say that the cable going to open is wear out or broke. It's a week now the cable is not coming yet. They open the door for my had tank but I cannot close it. Or else I'm cannot open it or I can get stuck somewhere if I have no gas . If I closed the door. 46$ to the cable and they said maybe 200$ or more to the labor. This is scary if u are driving far u trying to put gas u cannot open the dooor to get get gas u stuck. It's to expensive for the tow truck. U lucky if u are closed to a dealer. But u have to wait for the parts. Now I have to put a duck tape so nobody can closed it or if I put gas I cannot accidentally closed it or else I'm stuck with no gas. I'm just lucky that I have enough gas to the dealer when I bring the car to them.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander

Failure Date: 04/28/2016

The fuel tank had to be replaced because the fuel vapors were leaking into the cab of the vehicle, this was truly an obstacle to driving the vehicle. The local misubishi dealer said that this was not unusual the cost to replace the fuel tank and related gaskets, hose lines, c;amps, etc. Was $1,750. 00. Fast forward to Jan. 9, 2017 ;the vehicle was called in to be inspected for corrosion of front cross member. Misubishi applied anti rust agents to the cross members in question. This is a secondary issue that I am concerned about the cost I paid for the fuel tank issue and the corrosion isse of the cross members. However primarily my concern is I question the safety of each matter along with the potential that others owners may be unaware of the circumstanes I have listed and just might expereience something very tragic.
