Two problems related to check engine light on have been reported for the 1999 Nissan Altima. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1999 Nissan Altima. When shifting the vehicle from park to reverse the rpms automatically increased to 8000. The vehicle had to be shut off and restarted for the rpms to return to normal. The check engine light illuminated. A local mechanic could not diagnose the failure. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 148,000.
The check engine light illuminated. Also while putting gas into the filler neck the gas pump shut off which caused gas to splash onto consumer.
