The Altima has 170k miles. We’ll taken care off . I was driving to work and out off nowhere the car lost power the speedometer stopped working and wouldn’t show me how fast I was going and I had to stopped and it lost all power. I tried looking everywhere for the problem to fix it and they told me they couldn’t get the part and told to come here and hopefully this helps, at the moment I dint have enough money to buy a car. The car has not been inspected but but the cops or insurance. There were no warning prior to this accident it happened outta no where .
I was on the express way trying to accelerate over 40mph it reduces speed and lights came on the dashboard I took the car to autozone and got the codes and it came back the power train and 2 more.
Addendum to complaint # 11090355 filed 4-26-when problem w/acceleration occurred 4-25-18, no dashboard lights or check engine sign(s) came on to alert me to engine difficulties. Copy:2007 Nissan Altima w/ loss of acceleration after having been driving for 1 hr only; going 70 mph uphill on freeway to dallas, TX . Speedometer registering only 55-60 mph w/accelerator pedal pushed down all the way. No warning lights came on to indicate a system problem; no abnormal sounds made. Outside temperature averaged 75 degrees. When driving on level roads, acceleration operates fine at this time, ignition & braking systems also working correctly at this time. When driving uphill on busy fwy. W/semi's & other vehicle's on the road, very unsafe when have no acceleration ability to change lanes. This will be reported to Nissan headquarters: there are no recall notices on ntsa site as of yet, however there are multiple entries of similar problem(s) on numerous websites.

Driving home from a physical therapy appointment, I entered my street apps 1/4 mile from my house. I depressed the gas pedal to go up a slight incline. At this point the engine accelerated as the gas pedel was totally depressed. The car continued accelerating. Out of fear for other drivers, I tried to turn to a side street on the right, an 1/8 of mile from my house with foot on the brake and nothing on the gas. The car fishtailed causing the car to severe a telephone pole and a stop sign on the end of that street. The car was totalled. I was not cited by the police.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Altima. While parking, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning. The failure recurred twice. The contact called an unknown dealer and was advised to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.
While going 65+ the speedometer dropped to zero and the car could not register the speed it was going or shift properly. Now driving the vehicle the speedometer works but the car is jerking and not shifting.
While driving down the expressway, all the warning lights on the dashboard lit up and the speedometer dropped to zero. I coasted and pulled off the side of the road, turning off the vehicle. I then restarted the vehicle and proceeded to drive off, only to experience this same problem several more times. It is currently at our mechanic's, but they are having difficulty troubleshooting the problem. This problem initially happened while my wife was driving home from work. She explained the problem, I took the vehicle out for a drive and it did the same thing.
Slowly entering home garage. Braking. Vehicle abruptly accelerated into garage striking and destroying work bench and damaging rear garage wall. Left rubber burn marks where front (drive) wheels spun after impact and drag marks on floor where rear wheels were locked up and dragging. Filled garage and engine compartment of car with sheet rock dust from the impact with the interior wall. Do not recall when engine returned to idle but was able to shift into reverse and back away from damage area. Car was drivable and operated normally after restarting. Dealer estimated damage to car at $2667. 99, reported incident to Nissan consumer affairs and was assigned case #[xxx]. I will now drive the car with extreme caution and discourage my wife from driving it. Waiting for response by Nissan representative, which was promised within two working days. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving 2 mph, the rpms started to increase and the vehicle accelerated while the trying to park. The contact was applying pressure to the brake pedal when this occurred causing the contact to crash into a pole. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was inspected by an engineer from Nissan who stated there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The engineer also stated the contact may not have had enough time to stop the vehicle. The failure and current mileages were 35,000. Updated 05/24/lj updated 05/25/11.
On 01/25/2010, I was driving from work and while I attempted to stop to a light, the brakes failed to respond. I couldn't control the car anymore. The car slid, and hit another car in the back, but because the speed was low, the damage was minor. After that, the car was frozen ; the police came and the car was towed to a nearby autobody shop; after the outside damage was fixed, the car was transported to a Nissan dealership because the car was not drivable. (the soft ware was messed up,as the dealer told me). At the Nissan dealership, the software was reset. They couldn't guarantee though that this incident will not happen again. I contacted the manufacturer and explained that this car had a general inspection less than 2 months prior the accident and the annual revision less than3 weeks prior the accident, and now, even the car was fixed the Nissan dealer cannot guarantee that the system will not fail again. The manufacturer decided to sent the car for another inspection to the same Nissan dealer that couldn't guarantee the safety of my car. At this point, I am afraid driving the car.
