I own a 2008 Nissan Altima with 125000 miles which I purchased new. I called Nissan USA to report the dashboard melting problem and also report a whining noise coming from the transmission. A case was opened and within a couple of days I was told there was nothing they could do. Nissan would have replaced the transmission if I had 120,000 miles, but when I called to report the noisy transmission my actual miles were 124400 miles. They claimed that i¿m no longer under the warranty because of the extra 4000 miles. I have owned three previous Nissan cars and so far I was very happy with the quality and reliability of the cars. It is clearly that the issues is related to the materials used and parts used in this model and year. I would like Nissan to take responsibility for the products they manufacture and sell.

Regarding 2008 Nissan Altima: the air conditioning evaporator drain hose is poorly engineered leading to water draining back into the vehicle as opposed to outside of the vehicle. The water will pool in the back seat passenger side and continue to collect water until it moves forward toward the front seat passenger side. Without correcting this defect the water will lead to mold/fungus growth, rotted carpet, rusted floor wells, and potentially electrical damage as there is a main electrical wire that runs along the passenger side floor that parallels the evaporator drain hose.
My 2008 Altima also has a melting dash. I've contacted my local dealership and Nissan directly and they both told me there was nothing they could do to help me because the car is out of warranty. Are they not concerned at all that the glare from the shine is blinding and could cause an accident? it's a poor quality issue they should take responsibility for before someone is hurt or killed.

The dashboard on my 2008 Nissan Altima coupe has melted (possible plasticizer migration) and it has become very difficult to drive because of the glare it produces on the windshield, this lead to me to veer off the road and into the embankment. The Nissan dealer told us that they have seen a lot of dashes on the Altima with this problem in florida, but there is nothing they can do because it is out of the initial factory warranty and they claim the Nissan extended warranty does not cover it. Several florida residents who own 2008-altima coupes are experiencing the same problem. This appears to be a manufacturers defect and has really become a serious safety hazard. Sometime in December 2013 I noticed the dashboard of my Nissan Altima 2008 melting causing a shinny substance the causes a tremendous glare on the windshield which makes it difficult to see when driving. I can supply you with photos of my issues and a list of 100's of others with the same complaint. I appreciate your assistance with this matter. . .

Dashboard on my Altima is melting and causing dangerous glare!.
The dashboard in my 2008 Nissan Altima is gooey, very shiny and causes a glaring image of the dash to project onto the windshield obstructing the view of the road. If touched, it feels like an adhesive object and has a chemical smell on hot days. This glaring image is continually projected onto the windshield making the car a safety issue to the driver and others on the road.

I noticed about 6 months ago, that there was a shiny sticky substance on my dashboard and it has been getting worse as the months go by. It has gotten to a point that it is dangerous for me to drive my car because of the glare that it produces off my windshiled. I can't even put something over the dash, cause it will stick and tear the dash board apart, if it moves. This is not only a hazard to myself, but to anyone else in my car and to other drivers. I pointed it out to a representative at Nissan dealership months ago and he said he didn't know what was causing it, he couldnt help me. I feel its a defective type material and I'm sure its also not a healthy breathing enviroment for me.
