Melting dashboard. Makes it very hard to see. Also the cracking and peeling may be effecting the airbag functions.
Dashboard is melting and cracking. This car has been garage kept since bought brand new in 08, it only has 6055 miles on it, & when ever it was out, it always had a sunshield. Been reading thousands of complaints, & a lawsuit should be filed as was done for Toyota. It does create a vision hazard and it cant be cleaned.
There are long lines of cracks all over my dashboard. It appears the material from which it is made, is extremely inferior. Both the dealer from which is was bought (coral springs Nissan) and the consumer affairs section of Nissan na tell me there is nothing they can do as the warranty is up. What will happen to me if the dashboard falls apart while I am driving? I am also experiencing, to a lesser extent, the shiny spots which I have also read about from comments online, on the dashboard. I previously owned a 1999 Nissan Altima and never had this problem and fail to see how a car which I purchased December 2009 - note even 5 years old - should be having this problem. I'm extremely dissatisfied that the company is unwilling to assist in rectifying this defect.
This part is cracked/broken just like all the other Nissan Altima exhaust manifolds. Had it happened six months earlier it would be covered under warranty. Six months, 9000 miles??? its a $18000 car. A vital emissions part made of steel cracked and they wont fix it? there is a recall,ntb12-092 in effect for this car but according to Nissan my car dosnt fit the parameters because of the VIN#. It clearly has the exact same problem as the other cars,a defective emissions part and should be included in this safety recall.
This is a known issue with this vehicle which the manufacturer will not remedy. Toyota will replace on they're vehicles, but not Nissan. The dash from the intense heat in south florida, has become sticky and is cracking. In some areas, it can become shiny causing a glare in the windshield. The windows were tinted and a heatshield is always in the inside windshield. Armorall or similar products, were never used when maintained. Only soap and water on a cloth. I have contacted Nissan but they will not address as it is out of warranty. It is costly to replace with the same issue reocurring.
Car had been making loud gritty noise. Took car into fontana Nissan for diagnosis. Was told it was a cracked and leaking exhaust manifold. It was at no cost to us due to warranty and they replaced it. This was in August 2012. Noticed the same noise again in November 2012 and decided to take it in to fontana Nissan. The mechanic told me that they have to repair the exhaust manifold due to cracking and leaking. I advised it was recently replaced and they just said it needed to be replaced again. In may 2012 the car started making noise again. Took car to fontana Nissan and they found that the exhaust manifold was cracked and leaking! after the part being replaced, not just repaired, but replaced twice! the mechanic suggested we contact Nissan USA first to file a lemon or submit application for buy back. It took roughly 3-4 weeks for them to review case. In the meantime we have found other exhaust manifold problems in earlier models, found out that carbon monoxide is the gas that leaks from the exhaust manifold and is seeping onto the cabin of my car. Symptoms of low dose carbon monoxide poisoning is sleepiness among other symptoms. I am constantly sleepy in that car and have to talk to someone on the phone most of the time just to get to my destination. I do not have that problem in our truck! received all on Wednesday from Nissan and they have denied our claim. Will not tell us why! I am 7 months pregnant with a 3 year old asthmatic child that is constantly in the car. I am attempting to appeal decision but need help. Since the review process car has still had crack and leak. Nissan is not helping. Reaching out to gather research as to what can be done. What would cause 3 exhaust manifolds to do this in less than a year? what if I fell asleep at the wheel and got in a serious accident? what if my 3 year old or unborn child is affected?.
