Unknown.
I purchased this car and the dashboard is melting and sticky. It’s affecting visibility to the point where I found myself trying to lift up to look overtop of the blinding glare on my windshield due to my melting dashboard and got into an minor accident like was reflecting off the dashboard onto the windshield obstructing my view and resulted in me rear bumping into the rear of another car that was towing a very small trailer that I couldn’t see through the reflection on the windshield. Since then im noticing almost every dashboard on a Nissan Altima look the same if not worse and absolutely has to and needs to be acknowledged by Nissan for Nissan Altimas everywhere, not just in florida. A recall needs to be issued to resolve this very serious safety hazard. I’m lucky no one was injured. Please address this issue so people can get the dashboard repaired without costing them even more money than they already paid for your defective product.
There is transmission problems with the 2009 Nissan. The car shakes/ vibrates when idle, when sitting to long at a light the idle engine delays the gas pedal from going forward, having to accelerate the gas pedal till it jumps to proceed to move forward, the liquid is up to date however the car can’t move backwards in reverse but can move forward.
Unknown. . . I just got this car I haven't even had it put in my name yet but when I drive it there's a really bad glare I thought it was something sticky from the previous owner that was on the dash but it's not I got some goo off and tried to clean it off and tried to use a scraper and it's never ending stickiness so I thought that was kind of weird so I looked it up online florida has a recall on this vehicle for the dash melting my dash is literally melting but they don't have a recall in georgia, texas or anywhere else there's such a bad glare on this car that I almost hit somebody walking down the road and another incident I almost hit a kid on a bicycle because it affects your visibility I think that Nissan should have to replace this. This is a safety issue and it's very dangerous luckily I saw them both in time I would hate to see if somebody didn't see them in time I looked up the price of it and it's almost $2,000 to have the dash replaced thats an insane amount of money for something that I feel like is Nissan's fault its clearly a faulty dashboard. It melts if it gets too hot and it puts this glare on the windshield and its not just a small glare it is terrible so I wanted to see if I could get something done or if maybe we could make Nissan fix the cars in georgia and everywhere else that has this car it seems to only be 2008 and 2009 I believe so far from looking it up on the internet today but there's got to be something that we can all can do to make them pay to fix it everywhere I mean it's not only affecting drivers in florida it's affecting every one of these cars I'm sure. . . In every state our kids matter I almost hit that kid on that bike and kids in florida shouldn't matter more than the kids in georgia or any other state for that matter and I think that it's ridiculous that they were allowed to only fix cars in florida for that that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard this is a danger to everyone and I was hoping y'all could help me.
Purchased the vehicle from quality auto sales llc. Had tge vehicle less than 48 hours in traffic stopped. Had it towed to find they just put it together to rode off the lot but transmission is gone. Brought as is could have lost my life. Paid 6990. 25. I feel misled and cheated tried to see if they would exchange the vehicle even pay half the cost of repairs. The answer no. I really believe this place us misleading the community and doing so by hiding behind as is. The know these vehicles need extensive work but misguided the public. This could have cost me my life and I pray someone inspects this dealership hold them liable for these vehicles they are selling which could cause a very fatal accident because their more money hungry than ones personal safety. Please please help. Thus happen on my birthday same day I git news my mom has cancer and she lives 4hours away no vehicle to get her to moffitt. So unfair. They are very unprofessional as well talking over you etc. Major complaints with the attorney general's office within the last 2 months. This one is big please stop them.
I was on the freeway on my way to la then out of nowhere my car started to slow down then the check engine light came on and I was trying to move over to the emergency lane and and almost got hit by the car behind me and the one behind me in the lane I was switching in to once I got the side I turned the car off and on and it fixed it for a while but then then it did it again the same night later on and now it does it randomly.
The vehicle was working just fine when I went to the grocery store and came out. I unlocked the car using the key fob, sat inside and the car stopped detected my key. The steering was locked, I tried to place it near the start push button, tried putting it in the slot but nothing happened. And I tried unlock button couple of times on the key fob and the mirrors went down. And there was no way to pull them up and I was stranded in the parking lot for no reason. I got it towed to the dealership and they told me steering lock module went bad which is a common issue in 2009 Nissan Altima. Its a safety issue as I can get stranded anywhere anytime! and they are fixing it for 1300$ bucks! please recall all 2009 Nissan Altima and change this part in them!.
I am having an issue where my car door (driver side) will either not unlock or not stay shut. I have been stuck in my car two days in a row after arriving at work but what is even more disturbing is that my car door went flying open last night on the way home from work when it was completely shut. Extremely dangerous !!! where do I file a "complaint" for lack of a better term ? or concern to have this investigated ? this is a 2009 Nissan Altima.
Have 117,000 miles and my transmission went out, the car will start but will not go in drive and will not go in reverse.
A nightmare while awake. While backing out of a bank parking lot I hit a pole lightly. I stopped the car before shifting into drive. When I accelerated the car lurched forward at a fast speed. I tried braking but the car kept going forward slamming into the back of a parked SUV with the driver inside pushing it from the parking space up onto the side walk. And side swiping a parked truck pushing it into the SUV passenger side. . The acceleration was so great I am so my car is totaled. I am physically and emotional sicken by this and the damages caused from something Nissan could have prevent by fixing the problem. The car was still trying go after being stopped by the vehicle I hit and my foot on the brake. The lady from the bank told me to apply the emergency brake and that stopped the car. I could not get the car out of drive mode after the accident and had to shut it down in drive mode. This was a scene out of a horror show. It happened in springfield MA away from my home. I am glad the injuries are not fatal as one incident was.
I was left stranded when car would not start. Thankfully I was in a parking lot and not on the road. I had it towed to dealer. Turns out it was a defective steering wheel lock. Nissan had previously had a service campaign to replace this part free of charge because they acknowledged that it was defective at manufacture. I was not aware of this campaign and am now out $862. 46 as Nissan decided it will no longer honor their responsibility in this campaign.
Car would not start. Was told the steering wheel lock had an internal failure. This happened before in 2014 and it was repaired after I was stranded. I was told that the warranty for the 2014 repair was a year and the dealership service department nor the Nissan headquarters would assist in the $800 repair. Recently I noticed the service campaign for the electronic steering column lock (escl) being deactivated and being replaced with a electronic steering column box. This offer expired may 30, 2020. However, I was never notified. When I called the service department at the dealership and Nissan headquarters I was told that my vehicle could not be modified. This makes no sense. There are a large number of complaints on your website regarding the same problem, and yet nothing has been done.
Lock steering module failed.
The car won't start, even if I put the key fob in the key hole near the steering wheel. I took had a locksmith try to reprogram, but he said that wasn't the issue. I called the dealership, and they said they're were any recalls on the vehicle.
I got my car may 2020 for 3250 I got the throttle body fixed and also the flex pipe thinking thats the reason the car is slowing down or when im stopped at a light I can push the padel to the floor I almost got hit by a truck I took it back to the shop to get a tuneup he told me no way im not touching it its the transmission my rmp goes up to 3 or 4 depending I can be driving and the car is good then it jerks even when im stopping it jerks then I cant pull off anybody help.
I purchased this car January 2018. At the time of purchase there were no open recalls. Currently, my dashboard is so sticky that it is literally peeling off and has a toxic smell to it. I've tried call Nissan and they first told me there was no class action law suit, then they told me the car was too old, the latest is they said that this was from 2017. I said if you have defective dash boards it shouldn't matter how old the car is and Nissan should fix it. I am getting a glare from the reflection on windshield so this is dangerous. The consumer should not be left with this problem. Can you assist me?.
My radiator or my hoses are leaking causing a radiator leaks. Making my car overheat. I just fixed my serpentine belt.
Dashboard desintegrating. Where I live is very hot in the summer yet I park in the shade most of the time. After a surge in temperature and then a drop to freezing I noticed a shine to the top seems on the dashboard. When I went to wipe it off I would not come off and was sticky. Forcing it only made it come off like a paste. It creates a very unpleasant glare and I dont know what to do about it.
On more then one occasion when driving on the freeway for about 45 min. The acceleration speed drops to about 40 mph. And when going on hills its even worse. This has been going on for some time now, but now I have a second Altima that is having very similar issues. After sitting on the side of the freeway for a hour, the car returns to normal. This can not be a normal problem, I have searched and found that a number of people have had very similar issues and in fact I received a letter stating that 2014-2018 Nissans where having acceleration issues. ( I have attached the letter) I have 2 cars now that have the same issue and I can not afford to fix them, especially if I am not 100% sure what the correction is. I have also attached copies of others that have the same issues, and you will see that some have tried to fix but get different responses on the fix. Please help!! thanks.
The dashboard is melting. This is causing a very shiny surface that reflects light on to the windshield. Which makes visibility greatly impaired when driving toward any bright light.
The dashboard and steering wheel on my 2009 Nissan Altima are melting due to the high temperatures in the cabin. When the vehicle is in the sun, the top surface of the dashboard melts, and restricts the forward visibility by causing a glare on the windshield. This makes it extremely difficult to see objects that are close to the vehicle in the sun.
My grandson and I were taking a 2 and 1/2 hour trip to visit family I was driving about an hour on the freeway going on an uphill and I began to hear a whining sound and my speed started to decrease from 70 then to 60 and it started to decrease more so I then got off the freeway turned off the car and waited about a half an hour I then decided that it would not be safe to continue my trip but the location that I was in was not a safe area for me and my grandson to wait for a tow truck I then decided to head back one exit down where they would be more lighting the car drove fine I was able to pick up speed with no problem but again I thought it would not be safe to continue driving so I then call the tow truck and how does tow back home what I did notice was when I accelerate the gas pedal the engine did not rev at a higher level nor did the speed increase but to my little knowledge with cars it was telling me it wasn't the transmission slipping, pressing the accelerater and not hearing your engine accelerate but car is still moving but lower speed just did not make sense to me. This could have caused an accident it was mid afternoon on a freeway that commuters often use I was lucky that the off ramp was near for me to exit.
After driving approximately 1. 5 hours on a family trip and on the interstate my car slowed all the way down to from speeds of 60 -70mph to barely not moving at all. Clearly this frighten my entire family. After resting on the side of the interstate for almost an hour the car resumed but started to repeat the same pattern. It also barely pulled up a hill. This car has done this before and the nissian dealership stated that it could need a tune up. So before going on the family vacation listed above I had a tune up and oil change done but guess what. The problem still exists.
The dashboard on is melting.
My dashboard is melting. Which causes a glare on the windshield and is hard to see out. While driving hard to see anything. While in traffic hard to see other cars. The glare from the dashboard can be blinding as well if the sun or lights reflect. .
Takata recall cvt transmission. Was coming on highway going 55 the speed drop wasn't shifting gears anymore I was down to 10 had to gonon side of road my car starts but will not move no more then 10 speed took to my Nissan dealer and they told me it was my cvt transmission that it seems that a lot of those cars go out and when they do it's very costly that we should just buy a new one I had just purchased that vehicle maybe two years before this at happen I left my Nissan it's a well family car but it sucks that the cvt transmission can cause it to go down the drain I kept my car and well shape with fluids and always maintenance on it for this to happen I still own the car because of how much I love it I want to get it fix but everywhere I go everyone tells me not to because the cost its going to take to fix it your better off buying a new one . . . . I just feel why should I have to buy a new car of this one was up and runing good and I didnt everything I coupd to keep up on it for the cvt to go out on me like this . . . . . The car has a good body no rust not issues at all besides the cvt transmission I had got the car in 2017 and it went out already I paid about 7,500 for it . . . .

The dashboard is melting and is causing such a glare, during the day but also at night making it unsafe to drive.
My dashboard on my car is melting. I have had it looked and it. It is so shiny it is blinding me while I drive during the day.
I was about to take my daughter (a 10 yr old child) suffering from an allergic reaction to the children's hospital, when the vehicle did not turn on. My Nissan Altima 2009 (sedan) had been used without issues just the day before and I had parked it at home. It was parked and when I tried turning it on, it did not read the key, the ignition did not even notice there was a key, the steering was locked. We were left stranded unable to turn on the vehicle and go to the hospital and get treated ASAP. I had to get a cab with the sick child and come back from the hospital the same way. The days that followed, I also had to see her doctor and the car still did not turn on. Finally, the vehicle was towed to the dealership and they told me it has a steering lock problem and they see this often in that model(!). I looked online and was amazed to find several similar complaints! I saw Nissan is aware of this issue on this model and had a campaign but my VIN was not among the supposed vehicles under the coverage this is a major safety issue, being a woman (and even worse, a woman with a minor) I was unable to use a vehicle that is otherwise mechanically completely sound (it had just been serviced not even 2 weeks before!), this car has very few miles, it was the last thing I was expecting in a stressful situation that could have gone majorly wrong. Luckily my daughter's allergic reaction was tended to at the hospital in time because I took a car service and I don't live in a rural area, but I don't want to think about what could happen to other people or even to myself if I were to be in a remote location or in a perilous situation and not able to turn on my car and use it. I am now very wary and worried that (once corrected) this issue will again take place. This is a hazardous situation, though it does not happen while driving, it does put the owner's safety at plausible risk.
I have had the car 2-3 years now and the tires have loosened up on me while driving, the car stopped running and had to do some kind of steering column lock work, it is rusting on the drivers side floor panel, and the transmission is out of it which happen on the road at work with two of my clients. Which the clients both are diagnosed with a disability. Very frightening when you make a left turn and your car stops infront of oncoming cars. That could have been a major tradegy. If only nadsan would have fixed that transmission problem many years ago when they were made aware of the problem( malfunction) and Nissan will not budge one bit to help fix the transmission unless I pay diagnostics and a transmission bill of over 5400. 00. Who ever heard of a transmission costing that much money? they are the worst and I will never purchase a Nissan ever again. Thanks for your consideration.
Dashboard is shiny and looks like melting. The shiny dashboard causes things to stick to it and has unknown sticky substance melted on it. This causes glares and difficulty seeing out of front wind shield when driving- primarily while driving towards the sun. This has been happening for 3 years and getting worse in the texas sun.
My dashboard is melting causing visibility issues due to glare.
The dash has started melting as I am from texas, where the heat is intense in the summers. I don't always have the option to park in a garage like at work 8 hours a day in a parking lot. I had laid a file on my dash and it stuck too the dash. I thought that was very unusual. When I am driving in the evening the sun reflects off of it so bad I have to pull over sometimes. The way that they put the windshield they set the window off of the dash being the bottom or base. My windshield is leaking when it rains, cause my dash is melting and not supporting the windshield at the base.
