Rear control arm rusted through and broke. Rear undercarriage all rusted through.
About a month ago I noticed a weird noise when going over small bumps, I took the car to the shop to investigate it to find out the rear arms that holds the springs in had cracked at the weld more so on the read driver side and the arms in the rest of the car started to crack also right at the welds. Car is only 60k miles on it.
I was driving my 2013 Nissan Altima on a busy city street and lost control of steering ability due to the right rear control arm that was completely rusted and broke apart. My vehicle had to be towed and this part had to be replaced.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. While driving approximately 15 mph, there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rear passenger side control arm fractured and needed to be replaced. Additionally, there was severe corrosion to the control arm and the secondary hood latch on the vehicle was faulty. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v029000 (latches/locks/linkages). The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
On 14 may 2019, while I was driving to a family member's house on livingston road in accokeek, MD, my hood popped open and obstructed my view of driving. I had to pull of the road to pull the hood down. It was very fearful. I could have killed myself or someone else. This isn't the 1st time it happened to me. It also happened in August 2018 in doswell, va. Both of these incidents were reported to my insurance company.
The clear coat is peeling off on the hood and top of the car. The low beam headlights are very dim can barley see at night this has been getting progressivly worse over the last year has 98000 miles on it.
The control arm broke in my 2013 Altima. The mechanic said he has never seen one break like this and it appears to be a defect on the weld. I looked online and see other people have had similar complaints and it is under investigation.
Shift gear get stuck at parking mode while moving car. This is serious problem at it may occur while moving. We approach Nissan but no help from them. How come Nissan allow to not having recall on this as many owners are feeling this problem. We would appreciate if NHTSA comes in help. The latch will not release on the trunk. The fob or the button release is not working!.
Three major issues has been occuring with my 2013 Nissan Altima 2. 5 sl 1. Brake light comes up randomly while driving at local or highway speed. 2. Hood pop up while driving - issue with latch 3. Transmission is making grinding noise.
On the morning of oct 25,2018 I entered my 2014 Nissan Altima approx 7:15 am and put vehicle in reverse, traveled approx 20 ft put car in park to run in for something I had forgotten. I safely exited the vehicle , closed the door and walked the 20 ft to my 3 steps and approached my door to my home as I started to unlock the door I heard a pop and turned around and observed my car leaving the driveway , it had gone into reverse and crossed the street where it stopped against a granite wall damaging the trunk.
2013 Nissan Altima moonroof exploded while driving on the interstate at approximately 75mph. There was a loud pop and air was heard on roof. Saw flying debris from rearview mirror while trying to pull over to see what happened. Pulled over and realized large chunks of the tempered glass was gone. There were minor scratches on the trunk paint from the debris hitting it as it flew off. There was very little traffic around and no overpasses. Temperatures weren't extreme as it was a mildly warm fall day (mid 60's) and roads were dry. The glass is sticking out above the roof which indicates that it was an explosion rather than something crashing down on the moonroof.
The inside door handles on the front driver's side door and the rear passenger side door have both broken. There has to be something wrong with the manufacturing on this. I have owned 4 vehicles in my life, with all 4 of those vehicles having more than 100,000 miles on them when I traded them or stopped driving them, and have never had issues with the door handles. This car currently has almost 73,000 miles on it. The driver's side door handle broke last year and the rear door handle broke this morning. The vehicle was stationary when this happened. I am very concerned about being in a situation where the car needs to be exited immediately and we can't because the door handles will not work!.
After normal driving, I parked the car, grabbed the driver side handle to open the door and it just sort of flopped out. There was no connection to the interior pieces to open the door. To exit, I have to keep the car running, open the window, reach through and use the outside door handle to open the door (which is very difficult as I am not tall), then close the window again before I can turn off the car and exit.
My 2013 Altima started to hesitate and jerk when I was driving. Then when I would be stopped and ready to pull out my car will not go and then finally catch and go. It wont go over 30 miles an hr at some points. When I brought it to Nissan they did a diagnostic on it and its the cvt transmission that needs to be replaced. I was told my warranty expired 2000 miles ago and its gonna cost me $3500 for a new one. Ive only owned my car for 2 yrs. I am so dissatisfied with Nissan and they are so unprofessional to not fix this known problem with there cvt issues on all their vehicles. . I have also replaced the inside door handles on both doors. .
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the driver side door of the vehicle failed to open when attempted to exit and the door handle detached. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for a diagnostic testing of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000. Aw.
I was driving approximately 75 mph on the highway when the hood flew open. I was able to safely pull over and close the hood. Upon inspection I sawthe roof, fenders and hood were damaged as a result. I was not able to close the hood all the way so I used a cable to tie down the hood while I drove it to the dealership.
The 2 front inside door handles stopped functioning within 2 months of each other. The door handle would just swing freely like it wasn't connected to anything. I would have to roll my window down open the door from the outside then roll the window back up to be able to turn my car off. It cost nearly $300 to fix the issues over 2 different appointments at the dealership.
Takata recall. Water accumulates at the bottom of the trunk, where the spare tire is, in a rain storm. It was driven through small puddles.
Driving at 40 mph and hood flew open and crashed into windshield - bent both panels on either side on car and of course cracked the windshield.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that upon inspection of the vehicle the front and rear passenger doors could not be opened using the interior door handle. The failure occurred without warning. Deland Nissan located 2600 s woodland blvd, deland, FL where it was diagnosed the door assembly was defecive and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 40,000. Kh.
Water leaks into my driver and rear floor boards when it rains. I mean it has so much water I have to use my shop vac to suck it out then take towels to the floors. Car smells like mildew and mold. The driver floorboard is rusted and feels shaky and weak from all the years of water somehow leaking in when it rains!? I did research and many other people with cars like mine complain about the same thing .

"takata recall" vehicle has a airbag and latch problem.
I was driving on hwy 45 Tuesday (nov28,2017) I piece of rubber was in the hwy. I tried to Dodge it but it was too late. It damaged my front bumper on my car.
The driver side interior door handle does not open the door. A small plastic piece fell off which caused the handle to stop working.
I cannot open my driver side door using the inside door handle. I pull on the handle & it moves but nothing happens. The only way I can exit the vehicle is to down the window and pull the outside handle (hurts the arthritis in my shoulder) or crawl over the middle storage compartment to the passenger side door. This situation is definitely not a safe situation if quick exit from the vehicle is needed in an emergency. What would a person with disabilities or senior do? from what I've read online the door handle assembly inside the door was poorly made using a plastic part that wears out quickly. This appears to be a very common problem and across several Nissan models according to a dealer service advisor. The dealer, charleston Nissan, wants $180, parts and labor, to replace. I called 1-800-nissan1 on 10/18/2017 to see if they would stand behind and cover a defective part but they showed no interest at all and declined.
Takata recall. . . A semi trailer swung and almost hit my car. I swerved and drop off on the shoulder of I-30, I hit the concrete retainer wall at 70mph and no airbag deployed and I had a knot on my head and black eye. Also I hit 4 hogs on fm852, again no airbag.
The Nissan Altima 2013, driver side door handle breaks, trapping individual in car causing a safety issue in any urgent or emergency situation. Car was stationary when complaint happened. Frequent occurrence with thousands or models 2011-2015 as indicated by consumer reports. Consideration for recall.
The interior door handle broke when I tried to open my door. The handle is made out of cheap plastic. The only way out of the car is to roll the window down and open it from the outside. This can be very dangerous if I am in a car accident and trying to get out of the car quickly to escape danger.
We have not received any recalls since purchase of car. On 06/30/17,my daughter called and informed me the car was having problems. What she described sounded as if there was water in the gas. Itold her to drive to the dealer in conway ar. It was brought to our attention there was a recall on the cvt. They reprogramed it and test drove the car. They said it was ok ,but were a little iffy about whether we might have more problems. In the meantime I found out there were several recalls on the car, including the passenger side air bag and the hood latch. These were serious safety problems ,in and we had received no recalls. We would appreciate any assistance you may help with. She said it sounded as if it would blow up,at the time. She brought the car home(3. 5 hr. Drive)and after a brief stop,it would not budge. I loaded the car on a trailor and took it to the dealer in jonesboro ar. Itold the service man about it and that I had contacted NHTSA and was assigned a case #27278124,but he didn't seem too interested in it. I later found the recall on the passenger side air bag. The conway people said they preformed the hood latch recall. P. S,ialso was told the cvt recall was internal.
Tl - the contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while getting out of the vehicle a loud pop sound was heard. After the pop, the door handles on all 4 door are unable to open from the inside of the vehicle. While attemping to start the vehicle the contact stated that the vehicle would not start and noticed that it was alot of corrosion on the terminals. The battery had been changed out 3 times and the failure still being experienced. The dealer (town center Nissan: 2310 barrett lakes blvd NW, kennesaw, GA 30144) where the technician informed the contact that the door handle failure "could be a safety risk" and the other failure with the vehicle not starting was corrosion of the terminals but both failure were going to be an out of pocket cost. The manufacturer had not been notified. The VIN search revealed no recalls associated with the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired and continued to experience both failure. Teh failure mileage was 120,000. Nb.
Eastbound mass pike, construction barrel in left lane, struck with front left bumper. Fog light smashed & bumper cracked. Traveling around 45-50 mph, no construction site in this area.
Interior door handle breaks on vehicle. Vehicle has 12000 miles on it, and it just quit working when I tried to open the door. This results in a safety hazard as owner could not open the door in case of emergency. I did a search online and this seems to be a very common problem with these Nissans, and the company may have created a new part it appears.
