general problems of the 2015 Nissan Altima - part 2

Airbag sensor warning lamp is on. Has happened in the past as well but Nissan fixed it since there was a recall. Now the car is outside the warranty, Nissan does not want to fix their defected airbag components/sensors and is asking for $1700 to start with a replacement part on the back of the driver seat and does not even guarantee the fix, they say more diagnosis/repairs might be needed after the first fix. I need help. Nissan north America refused to help and told me if I want I can reach out to NHTSA since there is no recall at the moment. The air bags will not work in the event of a crash and my wife drives this car everyday with my 2 little girls. Can NHTSA help with this safety issue? I purchased this car brand new from Nissan, I am the only owner and this car has never been in an accident.

Brought car to Nissan dealership and diagnostic reports air bag driver side needs to be replaced. No specific incident occured to prompt the light to be on it just came on one day.

I have been receiving recalls for my car regarding the transmission the extended the warranty, the primary hood latch disengaged which could obscure the drivers vision increasing the risk of a crash.

I contacted the clay cooley dealership in dallas found at 39690 lyndon b johnson fwy south, dallas, TX 75237 on may 1st, 20202 via chat for an airbag service recall. After over a month contacting the dealership, I have not received one phone call or email from clay cooley Nissan. During this time, I spoke with four (4) different representatives over the chat about the need to schedule an airbag service recall. After the second representative in a period of two weeks, all representatives apologized for no one contacting me about the issue and assured a specialist would contacted me soon. Today is 5/31 and I'm still waiting on the phone call or email. I'm attaching the copy of all chat with the representatives.

I have been in 2 accidents and air bag have never exploded. The air bag does not work and I have been to Nissan several times.

Air bag light on passenger side stays on and unable to drive vehicle at night due to lights being so dim.

The airbag like have been on for about 3 weeks. . The Nissan dealer inform me that the airbag component entire system is faulty. . My car is a 2015, with only 30k miles on it, never been in an accident, I dont drive it that much, just got it inspected in July, now in September it has a faulty air bag system. This is not normal in a just about brand new car. . Price to repair is 1600+. When starting the car, the light just dont go off, like it should.

When an adult is sitting in the passenger seat the airbag is turned off. When we stop the car the passenger gets out and then back in the airbag is turned on but then turns it self off again.

In a vehicle total, going above 45 miles per hour , airbags didn't deploy , front end damage.

I believe my airbags may have spontaneously deployed while driving on a straight at around 45 - 50 mph, shocking and blinding me, causing me to veer off the side of the road and crashing into a ditch, totaling my car. All I remember was one second, I was driving and the next, I couldn't see anything and was braking & screaming, on a wild, bumpy ride, not knowing where to steer because I couldn't see past the airbags and dust/chemicals/smoke.

The air bags were repaired ( non-accident related ) and now the airbag light has come back on.

The transmission went out with less than 75000 miles motor mounts bad and air bags does not work. The vehicle was in motion on city street.

Takata recall- this car is the worst and horribly built. If you sit in the car it looks like a nice car but if you take a peak you will see how horrible it is. Under the steering wheel you can see the wires hanging out. The fuel on the car is done. We always get the car checked and it's always something wrong with the fuel. Which probably has to do with the 2015 recall that we weren't properly notified about. The windows do a weird lock thing, where sometimes I think I'm unlocking the window and the door at the same time. I hate that we invested so much into this Nissan and it's probably the worst car ever (and ive only had Nissans since I was 16 so that says alot). When your driving the car jerks like it wants to shut off but when we take it anywhere they don't see the problem. The car is trash.

Takata recall: both my previous Nissan Altima 2007 and my current Altima has sporadic signals of the airbag being off when driving down the road. Since it is inconsistent I have been unable to take to dealer to pinpoint this issue. I feel that it may be a safety issue. I am the passenger and heavy enough to activate airbag. This form does not allow me to show how many times or dates this happens.

Takata recall. This vehicle was totalled in an accident on January 17, 2017. Through the fault of the driver, even though all of the airbags went off, there was no other damage to the car. Citizens hanover company had it totalled. The vehicle was in motion at the time of the accident.

When an adult passenger (my wife) rides in the passenger seat, the airbag off light comes on. She weights 107. Nissan has looked at it and says no problem found. The light comes on when the vehicle is moving and when stopped. This means that my wife does not have a working airbag in the event of an accident.

I have been in a few accidents and my airbags don't work.

After the airbag module was reprogrammed so the light would come on when the passenger seat was empty my brother who weighs 240 pounds sat in the passenger seat after I started the car and we drove away the light did not go out until 20 minutes past. My concern is does the system think he is under 50 pounds?.

Passenger air bag turned off a few times since new. Took in to dealer for recall to reprogram. Was told light would be on until an adult sat in the seat. Several adults have sat in seat with adequate weight to sense presence. Air bag is still off and has been off since reprogrammed. Dealer should have had person sit in seat to verify operation prior to releasing an unsafe vehicle to customer. Have not returned to the dealer.

Car was reprogrammed for the "OCS" fix. Have same problem still.

I received a recall notice for my 2015 Altima for the OCS module. This shuts off the front passenger air bag if the person sitting in the seat isn't heavy enough to be an adult. I took it into the dealer and they reprogrammed it according to the recall directions. Two days later I was riding in the front passenger seat while my wife was driving and noticed the light was on that tells you the front passenger air bag is off. I called the dealer and they said it might not have taken the whole program and they would do it again. When I took it in the service person wouldn't even look at it other than to sit in the passenger seat and tell me it was fine because the light didn't come on. In the year I owned it the light only came on twice with an adult in the passenger seat before the recall. The service person even tried to tell me the air bags will work with the light on saying they are off. That's not what the paperwork says that the same dealership gave me when they did the recall work. So now I'm left with a car that someone in the front passenger seat could get injured or killed if there's an accident and the air bag is off because the OCS module isn't reading their weight right. I filed a complaint with Nissan north America and they told me after conferring with the dealer there is nothing they can do to help me. What!!!.

After the car had its firmware updated due to a recall, we noticed the passenger airbag sign lit even though the front passenger seat was occupied by a 250 pound male. The light came on while we were driving, stayed on for a few minutes, and then went out. It has only happened this one time.

The contact had not experienced a failure.

On or around 6/20/16 I received a NHTSA ans Nissan north America, inc recall notice regarding the occupant classification system (OCS) in my vehicle. I scheduled an appointment for 6/28/16 with Nissan of union city, where I purchased my vehicle. My vehicle was serviced on the aforementioned date, and I was informed by Nissan of union city that the recall malfunction was corrected. However, that is not the truth. The OCS has apparently been turned off completely, thereby causing a safety risk to myself and my passengers. With this function turned off, the vehicle restraint system may not work. I need the system to be tested because I have not been assured of the safety of the system by Nissan of union city after the issue was allegedly corrected by them. Please investigate my complaint.

The front seat passenger air bag detection system does not detect a passenger in the seat and turns off the frontal air bag. This has occurred numerous times and applies to certain 2015 Nissan Altimas. Nissan claims the recall to repair the occupant classification system does not apply to our VIN number, yet we continue to have this safety issue. The issued has been addressed with several dealerships, even provided them videos of the problem, and the problem continues as of today's date.

Pass air bag off with 115 pound passenger in seat. Fifth time. Must stop car pass gets out then back in and light goes out. Dealer finds no error message and can not find problem. Car demonstrates this problem when first entering car. Because the light goes through a test mode you may not notice problem until underway. Dealer unable to duplicate problem. I am very concerned for passenger safty we live in CT, USA problem started at <5,000 miles. Now over 10,000 miles with same proble. Not temperature related.

The passenger side front seat sometimes will not detect an adult occupying the seat and disables the air bag for that passenger. Adults ranging in weights from 115 pounds to 120 pounds. It appears like a manufacturing defect.

My air bag says it is off when someone is sitting in the seat. It doesn't do it ever time but it has done it quite a bit. When I took it to my dealership I bought it from they told me there isn't anything they could do because the light was working properly when I took it to them.
