1 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/09/2012

I bought Nissan Altima 2003 on August 20 2012. I drove it around 800 miles and did oil change at lube express they changed oil at 67290 miles, after driving for around 200 miles car was making wiered noice from engine. I got help of a local mechanic, he confirmed that there was no engine oil in the car !!! he put full 5 quart engine oil. I again got it inspected at lube express, they also confirmed there was no leakage. The third refill does not last for long. After 3 days again 5 quart engine oil was disappeared from engine. I again got it inspected at Nissan dealership on 10/09/2012 they also confirmed that there was no oil leaks and they did burning oil consumption test, again there was no engine oil in the car. They had suggested me to change entire engine!!!. I can not drive car at all. The engine may caught fire !!! I surfed lot of websites and found that in Nissan Altima 2003, lots of people have experienced the problem and it had occured after 60,000 miles I. E. After warranty expires and same happened with me as well. I complained at Nissan but they replied that they can not do anything since warranty expires. Problem in Altima occures after original warranty expires!!!! Nissan is selling cars which can cause serious accidents and I want to stop this. Problem in engine occures after warranty expires. Please help since this may case loss of life and serious accidents. Nissan can not escape from its social responsibility since they are selling junk cars to americans. I can provide lot of website and blogs to prove that Nissan sold 2003-altima with faulty engines. They must recall Altima 2. 5l - 2003 and they must find amicable solution for this problem. I know that I am at a big loss but my effort will help to save lot of lives who are driving Nissan cars on highways with huge risk. I trust in god and law of the united states of America. Thanks, kalpit.

2 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2011 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/25/2012

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while exiting his vehicle it continued going forward. The contact hastily jumped back into the vehicle to stop it and broke his wrist in the process. The contact stated that due to the vehicle not needing a key to start or stop it caused him to get out of the vehicle while it was still in the drive position. The failure recurred numerous times. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the safety concern. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileage was 20,000. Pmb.

4 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/28/2012

The rear sway bar on my 2007 Nissan Altima is broken. I drive less than 6,000 miles per year, and rarely in bad weather conditions. I was told this is not under warranty and there are no recalls, but I have seen several complaints online about the 2007 Nissan Altima sway bar. This is a safety hazard, especially considering it can happen when not driving that many miles (I only knew to have it checked because I parked on a hill and could see something hanging from my car. Otherwise, with the limited number of miles I drive, I would not have had my car checked, and would have been driving a hazardous vehicle this whole time).

5 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2011 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/13/2012

My wife was driving on a highway when she heard a noise and smelled something burning. She pulled over and got out the car. A few minutes later the car was on fire and burned to the ground.

6 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/27/2012

Floor pans on both driver and passenger are rusted with large perforation holes into the cabin of the vehicle. Do not know if vehicle is safe to operate since water visibly enter the car when it rains, and Nissan cannot assure that the seat attached to the car are not compromised by the rusting.

7 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/15/2012

While driving the clutch pedal will loose all pressure and will fall to the floor. The vehicle must be shut off and left prior the pressure building back up in the clutch. This is extremely dangerous as the driver is unable to shift gears or put the vehicle in neutral. This is a notorious problem with all Nissan Altima se-r with manual gear boxes. This problem will cause an accident and get someone killed. Tt.

9 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2010 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/15/2012

When stopped at a stop sign pressed the gas. The car moved very slow then sped up very fast then slowed down again. I feel this car is very unsafe. I have read countless same issues with other people on the internet. If Nissan does not recall this car it will kill thousands of people over the coming years. I hope you can help save them.

11 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/01/2011

We have a 2003 Nissan Altima, we had problems with the catalyic converter, we changed it, in Aug 2011, we learned about the problem on-line. What we did not read about is how the converter goes bad and throws parts of it into the engine and has the engine burn oil and eventually throw a rod. We took the car into the dealership for an oil change in Nov 2011, traveled 500 miles and the engine goes out we told the service advisor there was a knocking noise in the engine, he said this could be due to low oil, if the noise continues after oil change we will diagnose the noise. Well, the noise stopped, after the engine gave out, the dealership is telling us that we are at fault cause we did not get the diagnosis done on the vehicle. I asked them is the test would determine that a rod was going to blow, he said no, then why pay for the test. I have been reading on line and see there are several people who have had the same problem with the vehicle, and Nissan corp will not do anything about this, people are talking about filing a class action law suit, but there is no record of anyone filing one. I recently talked to a friend, who's daughter has the same vehicle, they just went thru the same problem with the blown engine, we got estimates to replace the engine, $3500-$5500 for another engine and labor, this is crazy, I called several used or rebuilt engine places and this engine is hard to come by, guess lots of people are blowing the engines for the same reason, yet Nissan corp can not file a recall or help out with the costs, especially where they knew about the bad catalyic converter and blowing debris back into the engine. That is a shame, Nissan is known for good strong dependable vehicles, and for them not wanting to help the consumers is going to hurt them in the long run. I honestly can say I would never purchase another Nissan again.

12 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/28/2011

The first incident happened on 11/28/11 as I was driving on interstate 93, new hampshire. The car suddenly cut out on power and jerked then the service engine light came on. I scheduled an appointment at belknap tire in laconia, nh and they reset the code for the crank positioning sensor, replaced the air filter and performed routine service on my car. On 12/3/11 I was driving again on interstate 93 and the car again cut out on power, jerked and the service engine light again came on. The code was checked and it is again the crank positioning sensor. I then went on the Nissan website and there was a campaign for this exact same issue - campaign #07v527000. I was finally able to talk with justin, a Nissan service phone rep, who advised that my car VIN was not affected by this campaign. I inquired why it wasn't as it is the same exact problem as the recall and he said that it does not effect all Nissans. This is an unsafe driving issue for me and obviously there has been this same problem with the Nissan Altimas yet my 2006 is not considered one of them. Nissan will not cover this and said I could apply for financial assistance but there is not any recall relief to get this corrected. I feel that this is a safety problem and there is a history of this issue with Nissan vehicles.

13 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/04/2011

I recently discovered the rear sway bar snapped on my 2007 Nissan Altima. A look at the bar shows it was a clean break with no signs of damage to any areas around the bar. A quick search online turned up other complaints of 2007 Altima drivers that say they have the same problem with the sway bar snapping in the same place and with no signs of damage. It appears there is a larger issue at hand with this piece of equipment and it needs to be addressed.

14 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

Recently while driving in a rain storm, it felt like water was splashing up under my floor pan on the driver's side. When I had a chance to look under the car, I noticed a lot of rust and a hole. I went online to check and see if this was a problem with my make and model and lo and behold, many have had the same issue and all have said the same thing. . . And that is that Nissan is unwilling to address the issue. I tried contacting Nissan online, but no one has responded to my inquiry. From what I am seeing others report, Nissan just doesn't want to help. Having rusted floor pans is a dangerous thing and Nissan should be willing to protect the safety of their customers. I'm afraid that I'm going to have a gigantic hole and perhaps my seat could fall through. Incident date above is approximately when I discovered the issue.

15 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/22/2011

This was a one vehicle crash (total loss) that occurred when the brakes would not work causing our car to strike a brick wall (also emergency brakes did not work). None of the vehicle airbags deployed except for the drivers steering wheel airbag which deployed once the vehicle came to a stop. The accident occurred at approx. 11:45 pm, 22 October 2011. No drugs and or alcohol were involved. The car was recently purchased from a Lexus dealer and the same company owns a Nissan dealership which confirmed that all Nissan recall items were complied with. We have several professional photographs to prove that there is still something going on with the Nissan Altima 2. 5 brakes and air bags to allow something like this to happen. I have personally tallked with mr. Bruce york about this and left a voice mail with greg magno at their NHTSA office. My insurance company confirmed that this car was a total loss and the vehicle has been now been removed from the towing and collision facility here in indiana and sold to a parts salvage company. I was trying to have someone inspect this car before it was destroyed, but it appears that it is now to late to do anything about this.

16 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/13/2011

Brake light in car went on just prior to 25000 miles, brought car in for service was told it was probably the master brake cylinder because it was recalled in the Nissan sentra. Result was that it was the master brake cylinder, told had to repair due to it being hazardous. Had to pay over $600 for a repair to a part that company already knows is faulty.

17 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/12/2011

Rear sway bar snapped on drivers side. No rust seen. Hundreds of similar complaints on-line. Whats it going to take to get a recall?a whole family getting killled?.

18 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/11/2011

Recently while driving my ses light came on. I took my vehicle to the nearest service center and had them read the codes which were 0725 engine speed sensor and 0335 crank shaft position sensor. Upon looking into the problem I found that this is a common problem with many Nissan owners, particularly the Altima models. Nissan has issued a recall to reprogram the ecm free however this does not solve the problem. The problem is the crankshaft sensor, and Nissan should be responsible for replacing the defective part (the part has been modified from plastic to metal because of other complaints however they will not cover the replacement, ridiculous!) this is particularly dangerous due to the fact that I can cause the car to stall randomly while driving, which has happened to me on two occasions (luckily not in heavy traffic of on the highway! but it has happened in more serious situations to others).

19 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/06/2011

My check engine light came on in my 2007 Nissan Altima. I took it to a mechanic who did a diagnostic and said that it was my catalytic converter and I needed to replace it. I looked online and found out that Nissan had a recall on the catalytic converter back in 2007 but I never received it. Now that my car has passed the warranty mileage, they refuse to do anything about this. I feel that they are not correctly notifying consumers of their recall information intentionally so they don't have to pay for this and all the burden will then be on the consumer. I feel Nissan should take care of this since they knew there was a problem the year I bought my car.

20 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/01/2011

While driving on the I-95 I began to approach slower traffic. As I proceeded to slow down, all the dash lights came on, my steering got stiff, and the car was completely off. When I pulled over and attempted to start the car again it hesitated but eventually it started. However, the most recent incident that has occur, the car no longer starts at all and only cranks but won't turn over.

21 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/25/2011

As I was driving from delaware to new york, I hit the I-95 around 5pm; typical rush our time. As I began to approach heavy traffic I proceeded to slow down. By the time my speed decreased to 25mph, my steering wheel got stiff and the car felt light as if the car was completely off and left in neutral and rolling down a hill. Indeed the car had stalled, and all my dash lights switched on (alt, oil, brake and battery lights). I tried my best to steer into the emergency lane to avoid any possible accidents.

22 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/15/2011

Several 2005 and 2006 Nissan Altimas se-rs (including mine) have had issues with the clutch pedal getting stuck on the floor unable to come back up and not being able to change gears. Dealerships accross the country have deny the issue and deny repairs. This is a safety issue and an accident can happend due to this. To me, is been happening since I purchase the car at 37,000 miles and it keeps happening now at 86,000 miles. . . This is happening to several others as well and a website has been created with everyone's concerns. Please recall!!!.

23 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/26/2011

Nissan Altima 2006 manual transmission: clutch losses pressure. I have taken car in to Nissan for issue. Vehicle bought in Aug 2006. Approximately 2 years later issue began. Clutch drops down while car in motion. Manually move clutch back up with foot. When first taken into Nissan (windward Nissan, honolulu hi) was told that there was nothing wrong. Clutch continued with issue very intermittenly. Upon arrival to san diego CA, I decided to take to mossy Nissan (national city). I was told that I needed a new clutch. I was reffered to Nissan 1 for assistance. Nissan covered the replacement of the clutch. It has then been about a year and a half and issue persists. Now clutch drops and I have to pull over, wait a few minutes and see if clutch comes back up. Cannot put vehicle in gear while clutch is down. I googled "clutch issues with Nissan vehicles" and there was a link to your website.

24 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/11/2011

I bought this vehicle brand new and it has been properly maintained. While driving down the road the vdc off and slip light came on. After turning the car off, and restarting the light would go out. This happened twice so I made an appointment with Nissan, while driving there it came on again. The stated that my master cylinder was bad and needed to replaced, the cost was $620. 00. This car was recently inspected and has not even needed new brake pads yet. I also have a problem with the tire pressure light coming on even when tires have correct pressure. I had to pay $ 50. 00 to have it reset so it would not stay on. After doing some research this seems like a common problem, that Nissan is doing nothing about.

27 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/11/2011

This complaint is a continuation of your investigation pe02078. Nissan only addressed a part of the problem by recalling cat converters. However, this did not solve the problem as the engines were damaged causing excessive oil consumption. The problem is all connected but they didn't replaced the engines which has since been upgraded. Here's a link to the number of complaints even after the recalled parts were replaced (keeping in mind that not everyone makes a report). . Read more...

28 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/03/2011

1. For the past year the clutch pedal depresses to the floor during periods of increased use. Started out happening once every other week. Clutch would still engage until Friday June 3rd, 2011. Clutch failed to engage in traffic. 2. Failure starts during increased use, heavy traffic, & during hot days, epically when when air conditioner is used. Incident started occurring about 1 year ago and has increased in frequency, happening now at least 5 times a week. Sometimes it will happen 3 times a day. When it finally failed I was in traffic & unable to shift any gears. 3. Managed to drive car to repair shop where I was told the clutch had completely failed. Having it replaced now. Car is only at 60,000 miles. Nissan forums have many owners experiencing same problems with the clutch failure.

29 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/30/2011

I was driving my 2005 Nissan Altima se-r 6 speed manual when the clutch just sank to the floori was in rush hour traffic and head could not go at the light. After a couple of times the clutch went back to normal pressure. About 30 minutes later it happened again, but the clutch never went back to pressure I have been reading forums online, and this happens to be a problem for most 02-06 Nissan Altima owners with manuals. Nissan needs to own up to the problem and fix this safety hazard.

30 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

My car has been experiencing pulling since last year. I family member informed me that the problem sounded like the transmission was going bad and that I needed to have the car checked. I took the car to the Nissan dealership and paid for a diagmostic inpsection. The Nissan dealership reported no problems with the engine (which I had to have replaced when the car was purchased brand new) and reported no problem with the transmission. I was told that I needed the brakes and rotors replaced in the front. I got the issue taken care of and the problem stills occurs with my car and it still jerks/pulls when I put my car in drive and am on the road. I think that this is a safety issue that needs to be looked into. I do not believe that the Nissan dealership is being truthful and honest about the situation. When I was there one of the sales reps asked me if I wanted to trade my car in. I could hear the other salesperson/mechanic talk to another person about my car and possible open recalls, but never addressed this with me. I contacted the 1800 number regarding a recall on my car. I was told that there was still a recall open and I explained the problems with my car. The rep told me to take my care in and get it checked again. When I contacted the Nissan dealership the person was short patience with me and told me that I did not need to get it checked because it was already replaced in 2006. I feel like I am driving a car that will eventually break down or fall apart while I am driving. I have put several tires on my car and it seems like I still hear a strange noise coming from the wheels even when I have placed new rotors and brakes on the front and back wheels.

31 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/15/2011

Front windows rolling down on their own while not near vehicle. This has occurred while the vehicle is not operating (turned off) and while using each of our two key fobs as the primary fob, once while my wife was in her place of work.

32 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 04/01/2011

Smell of wet carpet/mold after having driven in rainy conditions. Found that the driver's side mat was soaked and moldy smelling. Took car to dealer to determine source of leak. Passenger side under carriage toward door had a rusted area about 11 x 5 inches; nothing on driver's side. Explanation from dealer service department was that water was migrating to the driver's side from this leak even though passenger side was not wet. Dealer service rep said this rusted area seen on other Altimas. Estimated $900. 00 to repair. Called Nissan for explanation and assistance. Nissan denied any responsibility for the problem and would not make any attempt to resolve the issue. This was their position even when told of the numerous complaints I had found from other owners. This car was purchased new and only serviced by dealer.

33 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2011 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/09/2011

I have a new 2011 Nissan Altima sl which I parked in my church parking lot and went into church. At the end of mass, as I was leaving the church and walking toward the parking lot, I used my automatic start. . . The car started and was warming up. As I approached my running car, I walked in front of the car to get around to the driver's side. I opened the driver's side door and the car accelerated and took off moving forward with nobody in it. I was holding onto the door chasing after my car trying to jump in and put my foot on the break to stop the car. I was unsuccessful as the car ran into another car in the parking lot and came to an abrupt stop. My car was damaged and still running. The parked car that it hit was damaged. Upon impact, I was thrown against the open door and then onto the pavement on my back/right side. Many people were exiting church and gathered around. . . It is fortunate that nobody was hit/run over by this "run-away" car. Someone in the crowd called the police and the ambulance. . . I was on the ground until both arrived. I was treated for muscle and soft tissue strain/trauma/ spasms. I missed a day of work. My insurance company investigated the incident but was unable to accurately pin blame on the responsible party. . . They say there is nothing else they can do. The manufacturer, Nissan, had a company called auto express install an automatic start mechanism in the new car before delivering the car to me. Right now, Nissan is blaming auto express for a faulty "autostart mechanism" or faulty installation. Auto express is blaming Nissan for a faulty "park-neutral switch. " bottom line: something was defective. . . And nobody wants to accept blame. The park-neutral switch has been cleared by Nissan. The autostart has been removed by auto express. Auto express paid for my car repairs and rental car. Both companies are avoiding me. . .
