2 Wheel problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/20/2025

Suspension and steering issues purchased many new tires throughout the yrs to find out it had suspension issues. There are 4 recalls listed on my insurance policy that describes exactly what's been wrong with my car since purchased. When calling Nissan and checking your data base my VIN # has never had any recalls for these issues but is obvious this make and model has been affected as well. Please look into this some more car is not safe and we were sold a lemon from day 1. Going back and forth to dealership lies and mechanics to find out it's always been a suspension issue I don't know the exact terms but suspension and some type of electric issue just as the recalls stated on my insurance policy description. Please advise or help Nissan make this right to keep our streets and cars safe while on the road. I need to gather all documents from places I've gone in for these very same issues of recalls shown. Financially this has been a burden investing in a used car to just have to fix right away with these same exact issues of recalls listed but to say our vehicle was not affected by those recalls is ridiculous it's obvious I been dealing with the same exact issues. Please help. Thank you for listening and hopefully you can help make a difference with this safety issue. I bought the car during covid year and been having issues since then but today's date on incident because I'm not sure of an exact date 4-5 yrs ago when issues started. Dealership lied to us I'm sure they were experiencing same issues with suspension that lead to issues with steering wheel control arms into motor mounts and tires getting bald fast and always having to change out front tires not straight or balanced out of control all the time.

3 Wheel problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/30/2025

Rear passenger wheel has been rattling for a year. While driving (right now), car began to fishtail going approx 35mph. Was able to pull off and avoid accident. Upon examination, described wheel is no longer facing forward and is facing inward. Likely that the rear controller snapped. There is a service campaign for this exact issue. Nissan is no longer covering the cost of this repair which is insane given that I was never notified of this issue.

4 Wheel problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/27/2025

While driving, the Altima’s rear control arm and suspension links broke due to corrosion resulting in loss of safe control of the vehicle. Nissan is aware that this is a problem with this year and make vehicle. They issued an extension of the warranty for this issue. This should be a mandatory recall for safety concerns, not simply a warranty extension. This is a very dangerous issue that can lead to serious injury! very upset that money is valued over human life. When these parts fail, the vehicle is not safe.

5 Wheel problem of the 2020 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/08/2025

The tire rod assembly disconnected and caused a near miss accident. The steering was no longer intact. The car had to be towed and repaired to the nearest auto repair shop.

6 Wheel problem of the 2024 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/09/2024

This request is due to my concern that a possible manufacturing or other defect in the 2024 Nissan Altima’s steering and/or wheel mechanisms caused a sudden loss of steering control and resulted in a collision and serious injuries. The car was taken possession by national car rental. I am unsure if the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others, but it has been reported to the manufacturer (Nissan), my insurance company (state farm), and the car rental company (national). I don't think there were any warning lights. The following is what I experienced. I was driving, passengers were in the front and rear right seats. The car was in the right lane on [xxx] heading into an underpass when the Altima experienced a sudden jolt in the steering wheel with smoke coming out of the steering wheel; steering turned very stiff as if it had lost power and the car pulled to the right and off the road. I struggled to maintain control over the vehicle; nonetheless, given the narrow shoulder of the underpass and the sudden difficult steering, the car collided lengthwise along the passenger side against a cement barrier and metal guardrail. The front and back passenger-side airbags deployed, striking both passengers; rear seat passenger was seriously injured; driver and front passenger were bruised. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

7 Wheel problem of the 2015 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/04/2024

Upon entering highway and reaching 75 mph, vehicle pulled hard to right. I made a correction to keep vehicle in center lane of a three lane highway. Shortly after I made the first correction, the vehicle again pulled rather aggressively to the right, I again made a correction back to maintain center of lane. After making second correction, I noticed my steering wheel very off center to maintain vehicle tracking straight in the lane. (steering wheel indicating a left turn to maintain a straight track). Simultaneously, the vehicle traction control indicator illuminated on the drivers display. I quickly checked my tire pressures to rule out a flat tire. I pulled off to the shoulder of the highway, as the vehicle was getting more difficult to control in a straight line. Not noticing any obvious damage and the need to vacate the highway environment, I illuminated my hazards and drove approximately 5-10 mph to the next exit 1/8 mile away. Arriving in a safe location, I again exited the vehicle to inspect all four wheels at which time I observed the right rear tire angled inward at a harsh angle. Upon further inspection, the right rear lower suspension control arm had broken free at the bushing and angled the coil spring downward at an angle. The vehicle was not able to be driven and subsequently towed via flatbed 45 miles to my auto repair facility.

8 Wheel problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/03/2024

Going down the highway coming home my hood popped up and blocked my visibility I swerved off the road causing my back tire to blow out. Now my hood will not open back up, since I closed it on the highway. I got my car to my house with the spare but am not sure what to do now. I looked and apparently my car has a recall for a faulty hood and was never taken in for inspection. I believe this was the cause of my hood failure.

On the seventeenth of March,2024 a 2019 Nissan Altimawith alittle over 25000 miles on the odo was backed from a garage and driven forward about 100 feet on dry, smooth pavement in a cul DE sac when the right front wheel came loose . This caused the auto to veer right and sideswipe a vehicle parked at the curb. This altma has been driven by a woman in her eighties since new ,garaged nitely, washed weekly, and serviced as required. If this had happened at highway speeds it might have resulted serius injury or death.

10 Wheel problem of the 2019 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/24/2024

The spare tire that is included with the vehicle is the wrong overall diameter and if used on either front or rear, will cause the awd transfer case to over heat within 1 mile. There is the potential for major damage or destruction of the awd transfer case. This is an immediate safety concern! Nissan should recall these vehicles immediately and provide a proper sized spare tire that can be driven on to get to a repair facility without vehicle damage or loss of control.

Hello, on October 15th, close to 5 pm, I was driving on a busy highway surrounded by other cars when suddenly, the hood of my 2015 Nissan Altima slammed into my windshield. There was damage to the hood, a cracked windshield, the left side wheel was pulling to the side, and there was damage done near the sunroof top of my car. The interior light box inside the car was hanging. My insurance was made aware of the incident. I am a 67-year-old woman. I and others on that highway could have lost our lives. Please get in touch with me ASAP about this horrific incident. Photos were taken of the damages.

The rear lower link had broken in half and the car was not drivable. The tires bent in. The car was then towed to universal Nissan. This was a recall and Nissan wants to charge me for parts and labor.

22 Wheel problem of the 2015 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/06/2022

Took car in and asked Nissan dealer to inspect rear lower links as there was a creaking noise and had just received extended 10 year warranty from manufacturer on components. Said completely fine. 3 weeks later driving down the road heard a thump in back end and car became impossible to control even at less than 20 miles an hour causing it to fishtail from lane to lane. Took car back in for repair and passenger side lower link completely rusted and snapped. Drivers side was also completely corroded and upon removal was also cracked. This could not have happened in 3 weeks time if inspected and had nothing wrong. Dealer told me even though they were completely corroded, which was what the warranty stated, they could not repair until physically broken as per Nissan. Dealer has stated they have had others with issues similar to mine but manufacturer will not replace until physically broken, which then creates a serious hazard to cars occupants and others on the road. I do not feel the perimeters of this recall are at all safe, as if I had been on a major highway doing 65 with this vehicle a serious accident would have occurred.

23 Wheel problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/05/2022

I took my car in for an alignment and the mechanic discovered excessive and sever corrosion on the lower suspension link in the rear, the corrosion is so bad that the entire subframe is holding on by a corroded approximately 1/2 inch section, one bump and the entire rear end of the vehicle will fall off. This car is less than 10 years old, has 80,000 miles on it and is for the most part kept in a garage. The corrosion is so bad that the car has been deemed unsafe to drive. Individuals who are experts in automotive parts have indicated that the corrosion that has occurred would be expected for a car that is over 50 years old and has been sitting in water or subjected to extreme use of salt/water/road chemicals to corrode to the degree that this entire unit is showing. I found that Nissan has put in place a "warranty extension to replace this exact part of the lower rear suspension due to excessive corrosion for the year/make/model of car I am reporting, however Nissan is refusing to honor that on my car simply because my VIN number didn't show up as one that should be experiencing this known issue. Searching the internet I have found hundreds of people that have had their back end fall off while driving due to this corrosion, all are same year, make and model. I will attach photos that show the extensive corrosion that is on the lower rear link of my 2013 Altima, reflecting that my car is in fact impacted by the very issue that Nissan supposedly was voluntarily extending the warranty on in an effort to prevent having to do a recall. Based on my brief internet review with a simple google search this part is defective on more cars than Nissan is covering and someone is going to die as a result of Nissans failure to recall and/or fix the issue when it is brought to their attention despite knowing that this is a prevalent issue on the year/make/model of this car. There lack of taking responsibility will cost someone their life.

24 Wheel problem of the 2020 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/22/2022

I bought a used (7,000 miles) 2020 Nissan Altima 2. 5 sv. Bought the car January (18-19th) 2022. The same week I bought it I noticed a noise coming from the right side of the car. I would later come to find out it was a wheel bearing, which when not fixed can lead to some serious safety concerns. The wheel can potentially come off during driving! at high speeds in particular, that is dangerous. I am glad it did not happen to me, but it could have caused fatal accidents. Anytime I made turned my wheel to the right I heard a low droning/humming/vibrating noise from the opposite side. It was more pronounced with speed and depth of turn. These turns do not have to be very deep; most highways have curves in them, and this is when I would hear the noise. It usually began at speeds of 50-60mph, but as the issue became more pronounced over time (this took a whole year to resolve) this changed, and I was able to hear it from 30-40mph. Nissan did not want to warranty this at first, at multiple dealership locations. More time passed and I noticed the wheel bearing noise getting more and more pronounced. I brought it to another dealership that was not a Nissan dealership, and they said it’s clearly the wheel bearing. That’s the first time I had been told what this could possibly be. I brought it to the local Nissan dealership after this, so I could get this done under warranty. Remember, this has been happening since I bought the car, and I am at less than 17k mileage. I told them I was concerned about the wheel bearing and that I thought this was the issue, and it was more pronounced now than in the past. They said, "the car is fine" and that the noise it’s “normal. ” I asked how a loud noise happening only conditionally and to only one side of the car was “normal”, and he had no reply for that. Months later the noise is became incredibly disturbing, and I spoke with the manager, and they finally fixed the wheel bearing under warranty.

25 Wheel problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/07/2022

When driving my rear control arm, on my Nissan Altima 2014 rusted and corroded so much that it broke in the back. When taking it to pep boys, they had said the left side was only a matter of time as well before that too suffered a similar fate. I live in michigan which constantly uses salt to help the roads during winter. I have received an invoice of 2700 for repairs and after some googling I saw that Nissan had a major issue with this, that's great, however I was never notified via mail, emial, phone, nothing. I had no way of knowing this was going to, or happen, until after the fact.

26 Wheel problem of the 2017 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/12/2021

On Sunday December 12th just north of birmingham on I-65 there was a foreign object in the lane (appeared to be a fairly large piece on concrete). It was between 8-9p thus dark. Due to the amount of traffic driver could not swerve to avoid the object. The object bent the front driver wheel which resulted in needing to replace the driver front wheel and tire (oem Nissan wheel and cover, third party recycled tire). The object in the road could have caused far worse damage and bodily injury. We do not have a receipt for the $60. 00 used tire.

The transmission has fail it accelerates on its own, jerking, hesitated.

28 Wheel problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/16/2021

On 5/17/21 I had just left walmart in abington on my way to pickup my glasses. After picking up my glasses I felt wobble in the driver's side rear tire. I pulled over on pine st. And checked the lug nuts on each wheel. Everything seemed okay. I then noticed a traction sign on the dashboard. I put on my hazard lights and drove home approximately a mile or two. When I got home I backed the car up and when I got out I notices the rear wheel drivers side bending inward at the top. I had westgate towing tow it after approved by aaa to bourne's auto for repair where I had bought the car and purchased a repair/warranty contract. Nothing was covered. No rental for a week. Paid almost $911. 47 for the repair. Worried it could happen on other side. Diagnosis: left rear lower control arm & lateral arm and alignment needed.

29 Wheel problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/14/2021

While turning onto the entrance ramp to the highway, the lower rear control arm on the passenger side cracked and separated from the rest of the vehicle. The only thing holding the wheel on to the vehicle was a suspension coil. Steering and control of the vehicle became intermittent and I had no idea what was happening. I was driving with my pregnant daughter in the passenger seat. The "slippery road" warning light appeared on the dashboard but no other warnings or alerts. We were not injured. The vehicle was towed to our automotive repair shop. The auto repair noted that they had fixed this issue on Nissan Altima in the past and the repair was covered by Nissan. The Nissanassist website states there is "a service campaign in states with high road salt usage to replace the rear suspension lower link. On some affected vehicles, and under severe corrosion conditions, one of the rear lower suspension links may corrode and separate at the bushing joint area". I live in buffalo, NY area which is a high-salt state. Nissan will not cover this repair ($1146. 57 includes nys taxes) because the campaign does not include my VIN and was for 2013 models; my vehicle is 2014. The auto repair shop told us that the lower control arm in my 2014 vehicle was a 2013 part, so it was subject to the same defect that prompted the 2013 recall. Nissan refuses any assistance with this repair and says the VIN number is not included on the lower suspension link repair. If this type of corrosion in a high salt state resulting in breakage is a known covered issue with the 2013 model, and my 2014 model Nissan was assembled with the 2013 control arm parts, then my vehicle should not be excluded.

31 Wheel problem of the 2019 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/17/2021

In 2020 in the month of August, I bought my first car from Honda of fort myers located in florida. The car seemed like it was a great car. However, the car begin to have minor problems like I discover a clung noise coming from under the car. When I took it to get it check, the technician discovered that one of the break pads was loose. That was just one of problem. The main problem and complaint that I have is the car was sold to me with three bent rims. After discovering a shake when I reach 40 mph, I took it to get looked at because I thought it was the tires. Once I took it in to get new tires, the tire technician took a look at it and realized that it was the rims and not the tires. So I decided to go back to where I bought it from and they told me it was nothing I can do because I bought the car as if.

32 Wheel problem of the 2020 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/03/2021

Since the purchase of this vehicle I've had two instances that I feel are defect related. The tire indicator lights continued to read low air. The tire was leaking some type of black film and a huge knot appeared on the side of the tire. Another incident involved the tire completely blowing. The tire defects were reported back to the company and were indicated as no fault to manufacture. Since I've complained of a recall that has been in the model vehicle but a different year. My visibility is obstructed due to all windows retaining dew and moisture causing fog to appear in all windows. It happens while driving early morning & at dawn during temperature changes. The defrost doesn't clear the windows. During rainy weather the car is completely disabled due the obstruction in vision from the thickly fogged windows. I had it checked by the service department and was told it was like that because the window was dirty. I don't feel like service has thoroughly inspected the vehicle. I'm concerned for the safety of myself and my child and have stressed this to them numerous times. During each defect, the vehicle was in motion. Please help.

33 Wheel problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima

34 Wheel problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/13/2021

While driving home and just entering my neighborhood, I noticed a low tire warning on my dashboard. I looked at the pressure and there was approximately 26 pounds still in the tire and the closest place to fill up was at my house. While approaching a right turn in the neighborhood and because of the winter weather conditions of snow and ice on the road, I slowed down to a crawl and applied my brake prior to and while turning. While in the beginning of my turn, I instantly realized that I had no control of my car and I slid into a snow bank on the side of the road. There is no doubt that I was going too slow for my car to slide. I was right down the road from my home so I continued home thinking I could not have had significant damage; however, as I was driving, my ride did not feel normal even though I was traveling at a very slow pace. When I got into my garage, I found my tire was completely flat and the damage was significant to my front driver side bumper. The next morning I removed my tire to see where the puncture was and if it was repairable. Upon further inspection and while filling the tire with air, I realized there was no hole in the tire but there was a fast air leak at the rim. On Monday morning, February 15, 2021 I brought my tire in for repair. I have no doubt that a defect exist in my tire and when I looked to see if there was a recall, I realized that the same tire I have on my vehicle is shown on the recall list but it is for 2019 tires and not 2018. Please look into my complaint and concern. If I had been traveling on a highway, I could have easily been killed. I had no control over my vehicle when the air went out at the rim. My tire is a continental contiprocontact p215/60r16 94t all season dot 6yx8 3yd 2018. The tire says made in slovakia. Other numbers on the tire were 3-979 84579 230385 e4 0231843.
