Vehicle would not shift into 5th gear at speed and upon stopping and shutting the vehical off the transmission was perceived to be in 4th gear for approx. 30 miles till our destination was achieve. When arrived the fluid was at operating level and of visual check no loose electrical connections where found. After sitting fir 15 min vehicle was restarted and transmission properly went though 1st - 4th gears properly with 5th gear still malfunctioning by making a loud roaring noise and engine speed accelerating with the roaring getting loader as engine speed increased.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Armada. The contact stated while shifting from reverse to drive, there was a clanking noise. The contact mentioned that the vehicle hesitated and attempted to stall. In addition, the contact stated that the brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle was powered off and was able to restart. The failure would recur intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the problem. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.
