Air Brake Problems of Nissan Armada

Vehicle breaks on several occasions have randomly locked up. Latest incident occurred 5/2011 in which I was approaching a traffic circle attempted to apply breaks and they began to lock up and make a loud grinding noise and ceased up. After about 4 or 5 seconds the breaks seemed to release. The locking of breaks appears to be the same problem I had in a 2005 Armada that also had bad rotors, of which I was assured when purchasing 2010 Armada was not a issue. To date the breaks have locked 3 times since purchasing vehicle in 7/2010, with months in between occorrances. Luckily I have been able to steer the vehicle out of harms way or the consequences could have been very serious or even fatal. The vehicle was taken to dealership at which time they said and have said in the past that they can't find anything wrong. So there have been no attempted repairs or replacement of anything. I have also contacted Nissan corporate and filed a complaint but they have done nothing since the dealership can't find a problem or duplicate the problem. But as it was with the 2005 Armada, the problem is random and could never be reproduced when I took it in, but yet Nissan knew it was valid problem with the model and came up with a reprogram for the abs. Apparently there have not been enough complaints to warrant a real investigation into this matter from Nissan, they have instead elected to rely soley on what information they have received from dealership. Nissan also suggested I leave my vehicle with dealership for several days. Guess what, I have already done that, for almost a week of which they came up with nothing. Not one day has gone by that I don't think about what could happen when getting into my vehicle. This is no way to live, and perhaps the problem is not prevalent but it is a accident waiting to happen in my SUV, and Nissan is basically doing nothing. Is today the day myself and or family doesn't make it home?.

Driving my 2006 Armada, and when I went to stop, there was a loud grinding noise, the brake light came on, and there was no braking power. I slowed to a stop and had to turn off the truck and back on and the noise and grinding was gone. Drove it about 1 mile and went to slow down for a turn and the same thing happened with the grinding noise. Once again, there was no braking pwer and when I restarted the truck, it went away again. Why isn't anything being done for these 2006 Armadas because this seems to happen quite frequently and someone is going to get killed if they can't get stopped in time!.

I have experienced intermittent problems with the abs system on my 2005 Nissan Armada. Periodically while driving, the brake light will illuminate when brakes are applied and the abs system activates. The brakes begin to groan, are spongy, have reduced braking power, and make a sound like a large spring being released. The vehicle continues these symptoms until the ignition is turned off. The speed at which the event occurs varies from 5 to 50mph. This has happened an average of once every 3 moths since may 2009. If the vehicle is turned off and then on again the system resets and performs normally. Each time I took the car to the dealership no problem codes could be found and there were no symptoms. I was finally able to take the vehicle to the dealer while the malfunction was occurring and take a test drive with a technician. His first words upon driving the vehicle were ?sounds and feels like the abs acting up. ? he then checked for codes and found c1179. The technician reprogrammed the abs under ntb06-040 program. One week later the problem re-occurred and has been happening every 2 to 3 weeks since. I was able to bring the car in again while malfunctioning and the same problem code c1179 was found even after the TSB fix.
