Parking Brake Problems of Nissan Armada

While driving home from work my brake light appear on my dash board. I approached a red light when my I found it very difficult to apply the brake. I heard a loud noise and grinding coming from the front end of my 2008 Armada. My SUV stopped with in inches of rear ending a car very scary. I pulled my truck into a parking lot, turned it off and then back on again. This seemed to reset the light. I called the dealership to see if this was a know problem and they said it was I need to have my brake booster replaced at a cost of 820. 00 plus tax. This would be an out of cost expense because my truck is out of warranty. If this is a know problem why won't Nissan recall this part before someone gets killed.

Brakes on 2005 Armada went out and started to grind and stick, could not duplicate after re starting vehicle and mechanic cannot get it to duplicate as well costing me money to have checked out each time it happends not the first time replaced pads the first time and re-occurs more often now very unsafe never know when brakes will engage sometimes drag without being applied.

While driving down the road I would be approaching a stop sign or light and I applied the brake and suddenly hear a loud grinding noise. When I pull over and turn the vehicle off and then start over, it was like it reset itself. I freaked out because I had children with me. Nissan, please figure this out!!! also when I try to turn my air on or off I hear a very loud clicking noise. Even while driving down the road without touching the air it just randomly does it.

11/10/10 while driving the brake light came on and the truck was not responding to the brakes I heard a grinding noise and the problem went away after I turned the truck off and restarted it. It has happen like 4 times to my wife while driving with my kids so im very concerned about this problem. I went to the dealer and all they could say was that they needed to get the code for them to try to find out was wrong with it. If there's someone out there that can help before its too late and something serious happens.

At any given time, the brake light will appear on the instrument panel. During this time extra effort is required to apply the brakes when trying to stop. When the brakes are applied, there is a horrible grinding sound coming from the front of the vehicle. Turning the engine off and back on can sometimes "fix" it but on this particular day it did it 5 times in a row. This problem has been known to happen to drivers of 2005 Nissan Armadas for a few years and Nissan has yet to perform/issue any corrective actions. When you take the vehicle to have the problem diagnosed they tell you it's the brake booster and it will cost $900+ to fix. It amazed me that it didn't take long for them to tell me the solution when I told them the problem. . . So obviously the dealership has heard of the problem before. . . . Why hasn't/isn't Nissan doing anything to help its customers?.

Emergency brake light has come on when driving at low speeds. When trying to stop, the car has low braking power and grinds and jumps. Almost in 3 accidents now. You have to stop and turn the car off and back on. There are thousands of complaints out there. Nissan plays dumb and tries to charge you $180 diagnostic charge and then $900 for a brake booster. Needs to be recalled immediately. Why has the NHTSA not investigated???.

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that the parking brake would become stuck sporadically. In addition, when decelerating to a stop, the brakes would grind and rattle abnormally. The parking brake light was illuminated even when the brake was not engaged. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the parking brake sensor would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact reported the failure to the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The current mileage was approximately 67,000 and the failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

I have a 2005 Nissan Armada. I was driving and starting to brake when all of a sudden my brake light came on and a loud grinding noise was heard from the front of my Armada. I almost lost braking capability. I applied the brakes again and the same thing happened with the loud noise and limited braking ability. A few weeks later, it happened again, so I took it into the Nissan dealer and they told me it was a code error and it had been reset (it was still under warranty then). Well, it has since happened about 10 more times. I had my husband take it to another Nissan dealer and they told him it was the brake booster, and would cost approximately $900 to fix. We did not pay the money to have fixed. The last incident was this morning with my two small daughters in the truck with me. I was in 3 lanes of traffic and was starting to apply the brakes, when the brake light came on and the vdc light and two other panel lights. This morning, it was the worst it had been since it started. I normally have a little bit of brakes, but this morning when I tapped the brakes, it brought the vehicle to a complete sudden stop in 3 lanes of traffic, then, I let off the brake and tried to ease up and reapply the brakes and it brought it to a complete stop again. I turned the truck off and it cleared itself. I called my husband and told him. Once I got to work, I started to do some research and I find that I am not the only person experiencing this problem! I count myself lucky this morning that I was not rear ended because I had my two small daughters in my truck with me!!!! Nissan needs to do something about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I have a 2005 Nissan Armada. While driving the abs and emergency brake light would start flashing. When I come to a stop the braking system starts to make a loud grinding noise like the abs has kicked in and wont disengage. The only way to temporarily correct this is to shut the vehicle off and then restart the vehicle. This has been identified as a recall for Nissan Armadas 2004 and older.

The er/park brake cable wrapped around axel bring the Armada to a instant stop from 55 miles per hour. The force broke the axel and dislodged the differential. Police who responded stated it was a miracle I was able to prevent the vehicle from rolling head or end or to the side when the axel snapped. It was determined that the bracket holding the cable above and over the axel failed. There is evidence on the other side that the brackets are rusting and the weld is splitting. I am a professional driver, I do not feel that no rolling of the vehicle or lack of injury or death was a miracle. I fear for the standard mom driving her children when this occurs.

Recurring, intermittent brake issue with 2006 Nissan Armada off road se. Parking brake light will come on resulting in severe shuddering in the vehicle that is more pronounced during braking. Braking capability is reduced significantly resulting in a potentially dangerous situation, particularly due to the transient nature of the issue. Vehicle must be turned off to reset condition. Nissan dealership tried reprogramming vdc to fix which did not work. Now they are looking at replacing brake boost actuator. Based on my research, problem has been common in 2004 and later model Armadas.

In addition, when depressed, the brake pedal would fall into the floorboard much farther than usual. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times but the failure could not be duplicated. Also, while in traffic, the electrical parking brake spontaneously engaged itself and caused the vehicle to come to a complete halt. The dealer stated that she would have to pay $600 to repair the parking brake. Currently, the vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer did not assist.
