2 Tire problem of the 2010 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 01/02/2010

Short desc = tires/wheels on my brand-new vehicle do not match the tire and loading placard, in violation of cfr571,110 s4. 3. 2. The vehicle is 2010 Nissan Armada platinum purchased new on Jan 2, 2010 at Nissan of st. Augustine, FL. Placard says spare is 275/60 r20 and spare is actually 265/70 r18. The dealer says the 18" wheels are on all Nissan Armadas and they are safe to drive on and are considered a "full size spare", as specified on monroney sticker. I do not believe these would be safe and I plan to never use this spare. Other purchasers may be at risk if they rely on the incorrect safety information and use the spare.

3 Tire problem of the 2006 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 03/30/2009

Cooper cts tires 70,000 miles took my vehicle Nissan armarda for tire rotation and brake inspection my alignment was off and tires had significant wear 3 places examined tires and all agreed their was significant wear and need replacement. My auto shop called coopers they said they'll replace 70% toward cost of new ones but remember these tires are only 9mos old I wanted them replaced at no charged. And wanted them to honor their tires. My tires are causing me to hydo plane in water, the steering is not stable ( heavy vibration on steering column with speeds over 60 mph) dispute having a new alignment their is coupling in tires and a blister on my rear tire left driver side. Concerned about safety but was told tires are ok tires are at 832nds inside and 632nd outside these tires wont last me another six month at this rate and fell if I keep driving on them I'll have failure eventually and could have consequences. I only put 12,000 mi on them in 9mos. I spoke with coopers representative who was insensitive and was not responsive to my questioning about tires and safety. And said that's all we can do. The representative said he would have to see them to even consider replacement I said lets do that but he said I didn't have to because we agreed with the auto shop for 70%I said if their is a defective material in tire wouldn't you want to see them? he then gave me a run around and would not response to my questioning. So, I said why would I want to purchase another set of coopers when I'm treated without regards to my safety and families safety?as well as the quality of your product I said replace the tires would be the right thing to do they are 70,000 mi tires with over 50% wear and rising after 9mos. I only used 20% of the tire I said shouldn't I receive 80% back? he also noted that if a customer is disatisfied with our product that they could at anytime ask for replacement. I said that's what I'm asking for!!! he then said nothings wrong with tires just 70% .

4 Tire problem of the 2005 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 06/15/2007

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Armada. The vehicle has continental contitrac aw, size p276/70r18 tires. On June 15, 2007, the vehicle was taken to a mechanic for a tire rotation. The mechanic observed that all four tires were worn. The manufacturer agreed that the tires had premature wear and tread separation and advised the contact to have the tires diagnosed. Claim number 5071419263 was filed with continental tires on July 16, 2007. Continental agreed to pay 50% of the cost to replace the tires, but the contact feels this is inadequate due to recall number 02t012000 (tires:tread/belt). Her VIN is excluded from the recall. The failure location includes all four tires on the vehicle. The repair location included replacing all of the tires. The current mileage was 23,600 and failure mileage was 22,000. Updated 08/16/07.

6 Tire problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 02/28/2006

Our mechanic informed us that he believed the tires on our Nissan Armada were not rated high enough to tow the capacity that Nissan claims they will. Standard with the Armada are p265 70 r18 "passenger" tires that are 4 ply. We tow a large 3 horse trailer that when loaded to capacity is at the limits of the Armada, not to mention the increased weight of passengers and luggage in the Armada. We have contacted numerous tire companies asking about what tires they would recommend knowing that it is our intent to tow heavy loads, not to exceed the limits of the vehicle. No tire company (goodyear, bf goodrich, les schwab) stated they would sell us "p" rated 4 ply tires for our vehicle because they believed the tires were not up to the job of handling such heavy weight capacity. Reno Nissan says there is "no problem", however, when we explained to them the problem with the Armada "brake recall" and the "trailer wiring" recall, we told them we didn't believe them. Also, the xterra had a "trailer hitch" recall because the hitch system was not strong enough to handle the loads Nissan said they would. We have made contact with several rep's from NHTSA who asked that we file this formal complaint about the tow capacity rating/tires of the Armada. Fortunately, there have been no failures with regards to our towing, however, the Armada is new and few people may have yet to experience this problem. Additionally, it is unknown how many owners actually use the Armada for this type of towing application which would skew the number of reported failures and/or complaints relating to improper tires supplied by Nissan. With the failure of the braking system and the trailer wiring harness on the Armada, it is not unreasonable to suspect that Nissan engineers simply made another mistake as Nissan was trying to get into the large SUV market.

7 Tire problem of the 2005 Nissan Armada

Failure Date: 06/23/2005

Purchased 2005 Armada in may by June vehicle went into service because a noise was coming from the rear side. 2 attempts to fix and part was replaced. August 2005 taken to dealer again because of shaking while braking, and front rotors /pads were replaced, and rear rotors resurfaced. January 2006 vehicle taken back to dealer because there was a grinding. Apparently the problem were the tires that needed balancing and rotating. Another problem was the liftgate, it did not want to open and close automatically. My car has been in the shop for 3 days and they still did not know what the problem could be. As another consumer mentioned the stability of this vehicle was very poor, I have swirved sharply to the left when braking at 50 mph or more. According to the Nissan service they have not found anything wrong with this.
