26 problems related to electrical system have been reported for the 2005 Nissan Frontier. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2005 Nissan Frontier based on all problems reported for the 2005 Frontier.
The timing chain has gone out. Other crankshaft sensor went out while driving the vehicle at about 30mph.
Front air bag sensor not operating. Air bag light flashes.
Erratic gas gauge and check engine light. Same issue has recall on 2006 and above Nissan Frontiers. Has to be same issue with sending unit used in 2005. TSB is open to include 2005 vehicles.
Twice my car has stalled while driving. Luckily both times in situations that I could glide off the road safely in lithe traffic and at low speed. In heavy traffic at high speed these incidents could have been catastrophic. Research shows the failure is likely the ecm relay in the ipdm or the whole ipdm itself. A new relay ($4 from the dealer) may fix it or a whole ipdm assembly ($595 from dealer) may be needed. Nissan has redesigned the ipdm assembly. That tells you something about the original parts reliability. How is Nissan getting away without recalling this dangerous failing electrical control part?.
Truck cuts off while driving no matter what speed your at. Have to wait a few seconds to get it to start again.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled when the contact attempted to slow down. The vehicle started normally after a few minutes. The failure recurred four times. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was an electrical short in the fuse box. The transmission and radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
My 2005 Nissan Frontier will stall out driving down the road. It has happened going slow and fast. The truck will be running fine and all of a sudden cut off in the middle of traffic. This has caused me to almost be in several crashes. I can put the truck in neutral and it will crank back up sometimes taking several try's. I have replaced the ecm relay and did not help. This seems to be a well known problem that can get people killed. The truck has cut off at red lights and stop signs. I have been going 70mph on the inter state and the truck cuts off. The truck has lost power in a turn causing it to be really hard to turn. The worst is pulling out into oncoming traffic and my truck just cuts off.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle lost power without warning. The vehicle was restarted, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 127,000. The VIN was not available.
The service engine soon dash light keeps coming on. All required service work has been performed as the owners manual states. I just had the 75,000 service performed at 76,230, and at that time the service light was staying on. The mechanic (not a Nissan dealership) did get the light to go off, but within two weeks it came back on again and stays on. Going back to the same mechanic to see what he states, but has Nissan had a problem with this light. That is my complaint as it cost me a few bucks to have light shut off, but it appears that there may be a problem with that particular light. Please note that my postal code is v0h 1x9, as it would not take it. This is an american vehicle, but I purchased it in vancouver bc on or about 26 June 2015.
Low beam headlighs did not work, checked all fuses and relays including low beam, and ecm, the whole ipdm module had to be replaced.
My car starts and idle but do not accelerate the ipdm is not working perfectly.
#1recently I noticed that my fuel gauge has been unreliable. It will show the actual fuel amount, then it will show that there is no fuel in the tank just a few moments later. Sometimes this issue lasts for a week where it shows the fuel tank to be empty while it is full. Also there is a check engine light that accompanies. #2 I live in alaska and require the defroster vent to work in the winter. This winter starting in December I noticed that air will not blow out of the defroster vent below the windshield. I have tried numerous selections on the dial/controls without resolve. It also makes a "bubbling and clicking sound" that to me sounds mechanical in the dashboard, when the vent is trying to change from the floor vent, to the head vents, and then up to the windshield vent.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. While driving approximately 40 mph, the low beam exterior lights suddenly shut off. In order to remedy the failure, the contact changed the bulbs, but the failure recurred. The dealer stated that the intelligent power distribution module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that a new part was manufactured to address the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,300.
I currently own a 2005 Nissan Frontier. 3 months ago, the vehicle had been stalling on me every several days, it would immediately turn back on. Last month it began shutting down on me every 2 days, a few times on the highway, almost getting rear ended a couple of times. It would turn back on, but after several tries and after 15-20 min wait. After checking recalls on my vehicle I noticed I had not been contacted about a recall for the replacement of a ecm relay, which was causing vehicles to shutdown. This relay was replaced and vehicle had been running fine for 3 weeks, but my vehicle has now started to sputter every few days. It has shutdown on me twice in the last couple of weeks.
Passing other vehicle on I-45 towards downtown at approximately 70 mph the engine experienced intermittent stalling. I was in danger to crash others with problems to get our of the high speed lines. At that moment the engine totally stalled ,. Finally I was able to reach the extreme right line and pull out waiting for a complete stop. I tried to restart the engine but no help. I did not believe it but wanted be sure that no lack of fuel was the origin because I already had the problem with fuel sending unit problem which do not work properly to accurately show how much fuel is on the fuel tank. I got some extra fuel. We returned and poured the 1 gallon can , then I tried to star the engine. It cranked but no starting. I called my insurance requesting towing service . I tried two more times and after that the engine started roughly and hesitating. After 2 minutes and stabilized I decided to continue. I called my insurance company to cancel the towing service . Decided to continue on I-45 but on the extreme right hand side line. I arrived home with no other issues and after parking on my driveway, shut down the engine, then I tried to restart it but nothing . Only cranking good but no starting at all. Finally after some like 10 seconds of cranking, the engine hesitated but started. I took it to autozone , they scanned it and gave me the codes p043 for the failed fuel sendin unit ( fuel level sensor ) and the code p0335 which is problem with the circuit or signal or sensor crankshaft. I made search to find it and today, Sunday 29, after several hours, finally removed and replaced it. After this the truck starts very good as usually before the stalling experiences. Cost was some like 23 dollar but the risk in what I was and exposing others has no price. Is necessary to have a crash or fatal results for you to consider this a recall to protect others?.
While driving down the road at 40mph my Frontier suddenly cut off , had no brakes or power steering. I went off the road and hit some trees. My insurance fixed my truck, even after I told them and the body shop I wanted it checked out first. I took it to the dealership and was told there was a recall with a defective ecm relay. They also informed me my radiator and transmission had a problem with the coolant leaking into the transmission. Nissan said I was out of warranty and did nothing to help but replace the part that caused my accident. The leak/ ruptured part seems like it was from the accident but my insurance and Nissan both are leaving me out on my own.
Vehicle will stall when slowing down and not restart for a few minutes. Motor acts like it's not getting enough gas, lights on dash flash. Issue is with idpm module. The entire ipdm has to be changed, relays are burning up due to circuitry in the unit having too high of resistance, not being able to carry enough current. Parts are defective and Nissan should be recalling these parts before serious bodily harm is done.
On July 5th, 2013 my wife was on highway i45 in north dierction and after fm1960 the vehicle engine hesitated and died. She was able to safely pull the truck from first line on left to the last on right ( highway with total 4 lines maybe). And then to the emergency line . Brakes and steering control became harder than normal and she was scared of lossing control of vehicle. Some body else picked me up at herman memorial hospital at the woodlands and we went to meet her. We tried several times and the engine cranked but no start. My final diagnostic was probable she ran out of gas even when the fuel gauge was showing almost half tank. We went to get one gallon to the gas station, poured on the truck and at the second try it started. In the way back we filled the fuel tank . The fuel gun at gas station stopped automatically but the gauge indicated less than half tank. This was a scary experience thar could reult in a serious accident with also serious consequences. I called today July 6, 2013 to Nissan service at tom peackock in i45 and they checked my VIN # saying that no warranty applies to fix it. They said nobody was able at the moment to check the price of fuel sending unit which suspected be faulty. An estmate of cost of repair is around $600 , the person on the phone said. I will call back this coming Monday to re-verify this issue and the part availability. I submit this because I consider it a safety to customer and other people issue . I have read about recalls on this item but Nissan answer was a negative or denied request to proceed as a recall issue. The fuel gauge is not reliable and I think is not an option to have it operative in any vehicle.
While traveling on the #1 lane at approximately 70mph on the 60 east freeway close to the intersection of the 57 north freeway connector, I lost full power and was forced to make an emergency exit narrowly missing several trucks and cars in the process. After limping home and letting the vehicle sit for a few days, I took the truck to puente hills Nissan complaining that I lose power once the transmission comes to temperature and that I needed them to asses the damage at a cost to me of $130. Their evaluation eventually concluded that the radiator had ruptured causing coolant to leak into the transmission thereby damaging it beyond repair. They quoted me approximately $4,500 for the repair which mainly included labor, tax, a replacement transmission, a new radiator, and all necessary hoses and parts. I was able to drive the vehicle but approximately 1. 5 miles from my home, I lost power once again and was forced to have the vehicle towed the rest of the way. The vehicle is no longer safe to drive at all at this point.
2005 Nissan Frontier ipdm module defective causing car to shut off unexpectively while driving under normal circumstances in traffic. Can cause serious accident as the vehicle looses power completely in the middle of traffic at any speed in which you can no longer have the ability to safely maneuver the vehicle. As a consequence, other cars may not be able to or have the time to move around your vehicle in time. There are great numbers of people complaining about this same ipdm issue on many Nissans on the internet. This is could lead to serious accidents or someone loosing their life. It happened to me while entering a busy highway and the car lost power suddenly and shut off. I was left helpless with oncoming traffic behind me. I was lucky I was not struck. Nissan dealer confirmed it was the ipdm. This a wide problem with Nissan vehicles.
2005 Frontier ran out of gas due to defective sensor. Took into dealer and the dealer held car hostage until diagnosticfee was paid. Told it was a defective ipdm. Looked around and this is a common problem dealership understands. Truck broke down while driving and would not start major safety issue.
I was driving my 2005 Nissan Frontier and the vehicle ran out of gas while traveling on the roadway even though the gauges indicated 1/4 of a tank of gas remaining. I was nearly rear ended by another vehicle traveling behind me. Fortunately I was on a roadway with a travel speed of 35mph and not on a major highway. I had to push my vehicle to the roadside and call for assistance from a family member. I contacted the dealer to find that the vehicle is know to have a failure of the fuel level sending unit. I was told they have recalled 2006-2010 models of the Nissan Frontier but the 2005 model using the same part was not. I had to pay the dealer an 89. 95 diagnostic fee to confirm what they already told me and then pay 470. 00 additional in part and labor fees. Nissan consumer affairs was unresponsive and denies they have a problem with the 2005 model even though I presented them with a factory service bulletin I obtained that clearly identifies the problem for the 2005 model year and tells the dealer what to do, what to replace and allows them to claim for reimbursement for the part from Nissan. Service bulletin ntb07-069b part affected fuel level sending unit # 25060-zz00a.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. While driving approximately 30 mph the contact noticed that the fuel gauge on the dashboard fluctuated intermittently. The contact stated that the air bag light illuminated intermittently and the check engine light also illuminated on the dashboard constantly. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or to be repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
2005 Nissan Frontier fuel gauge & check service light. The check service light came on and the fuel gauge reading poorly+erratically. Went on web and found this problem has been ongoing from previous years and models. There are hundreds of complaints on the web so there must be thousands who have been affected. The repair cost is $600 from the dealer, a cash cow. My truck has only 30,000 miles and been babied. I feel this is a planned design defect and a recall should be ordered. Samuel baylus.
After getting gas I started my 2005 Nissan Frontier and as I entered back on the highway the engine immediately stalled. The "service engine" light and the 4wd warning light came on. After rolling about 50 ft it started running normally again. I visited my Nissan dealer on 9/10/09 and they could not find anything wrong. That afternoon after getting gas it stalled after starting it again with the same warning lights on. I could not restart it. This time it had to be towed to the dealer. They found that an engine electronic module had failed but was on nationwide back-order and did not know when it would be replaced. I was told it was a large problem in 2006, 2007 and some in 2008 Nissan Frontier and titan trucks. If this item is in nationwide back-order it must be a major problem and a dangerous one if a vehicle's engine stalls while in operation on roads and highways.
My 2005 Nissan pickup's fuel gauge has stopped working. The gauge no longer indicates gas in tank even when full. The service engine light is on and the reserve light is on.
