general problems of the 2005 Nissan Frontier - part 1

2005 Nissan Frontier. Consumer writes in regards to fuel sending unit problem. The consumer stated the fuel sending unit should be replaced by Nissan, regardless of what month the vehicle was manufactured. The consumer stated it was obvious the same part was used on vehicles throughout the entire manufacturing process. According to the invoice, the fuel gauge would not read full.

I have had my 2005 Nissan Frontier for 3 months and the fuel sending unit has gone out. I have been researching all it has happened to many of the owners. It is not right for the Nissan to place faulting parts and make the owners pay between $400 and $700 to repair it.

My gas guage acting werid erantic. Reads full when full but reach half way mark needle will drop to empty. Nhtsa info sems say was a recall due this but ken graff Nissan of riverdale utah refuse to fix unless we pay. Notice on web ther aare many Nissan owerswith same problems.

A defective fuel sensor on a vehicle with less than 45k miles. The gas gauge gives improper readings and the service engine light is continuously on.

"service engine soon" message appeared and fuel gauge failed. Code check revealed-po463 fuel level sensor failure. Based on internet search most of this Nissan product of various years has this problem,- a definite safety issue and Nissan refuses to repair under what should be a recall in my opinion. Nhtsb should require Nissan to repair at no cost to owner.

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. While driving approximately 55 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken for refueling and when the vehicle was restarted, the fuel level gauge displayed an inaccuratly low reading of fuel. The failure recurred sporadically and in addition, the contact stated that the when depressing the accelerator pedal, the pedal would intermittently become stuck in a partially open throttle position. The vehicle was not taken to have the failures diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The failure mileage was 82,000 and the current mileage was 83,000.

I own a 2005 Nissan Frontier w/~91,000 miles. A few weeks ago the fuel gauge stopped working correctly. The fuel level reading varies from a low fuel warning light to â¾ full with each time the truck is restarted. The "service engine soon" warning light goes on and off with each restart. The Nissan 'recall' for this problem is restricted to such a low mileage, that many vehicle owners are stuck either living with the problem or paying over $450 out of pocket to have it repaired. So much for their interest in building any brand loyalty.

I have a 2005 Nissan Frontier, I received a recall notice at 95,000 miles for the fuel gauge not working properly, problem is they only warranty the part to 75000 miles. The issue didn't start until 90,0000 miles.

The fuel gauge on my 2005 Nissan Frontier is erratic and not correct. I have a service engine soon light on now. The code is p0463 fuel level sensor. Nissan currently has a recall for 2006 Frontiers and a little research on some Nissan forums shows many 2005 models have the same problem. I don't have $600+ to fix my fuel gauge. I think Nissan should include the 2005 Frontiers in the recall. Also, Nissan service bulletin ntb07-069b includes the 2005 Frontier.

Concerning my 2005 Nissan Frontier 4x4 nismo. I noticed my dte (distance to empty) indicator not working properly. It read ---- and then 0. Shortly after the check engine light came on. I was informed it was a fuel sending unit/sensor and that it was not covered. I did some research online at x. Nissanhelp. Com and other sites. After searching, I came across many others who have experienced the exact same problem. Apparently it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. A similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a safety recall was made by Nissan. According to all accounts something in the fuel system is faulty and corrodes over time. Everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing in the range of 39,000 to 80,000 + miles. Since this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterras, Frontiers, and pathfinders should get this fixed at no charge to the customer. Why should customers have to wait for accidents and possible deaths? especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. Cost of repair ranges from $300-600.

Driving home from post office in August 2010 truck would not exceed 35 mph and started to shake intensely. I got it towed to the dealer who diagnosed $9500 to fix, I was over mileage by about 1500 miles so all out of pocket. I parked it immediately due to lack of funds, much due to a $565 payment for a $30k new truck for 5plus years. Nissan north America denied me any assistance, and was actually more rude than the have the least bit of empathy while I was told I did reach the top person who was the final say. Many months passed and I replaced the radiator and other things, so it appeared as I saved the trans from harm by parking it but now at 98000 miles the service engine light is on coding an at brake issue while the tranny is getting jumpy and sluggish again. Quick search returns a big expense and cross contamination most likely did occur and can end up costing me well over $40000 in the long run for a midsize truck that I have owned and took good care of since new and I cant even get rid of it now except for losing even more money. . . Very unhappy as an owner of 4 Nissans in my time I really expected a quality product, now I worry about when it could go, as I was recently laid off I don't have the money for repairs or another car.

I purchased this vehicle pre-owned. Because the vehicle was sold as-is, the dealer refused to fix the gas gauge concern when I discovered it was malfunctioning. As long as I set the trip odometer when I filled up with gas & I was the only one driving the vehicle, this worked fine. However, in the past year I have been having family members drive my vehicle & they dont know or forget to set the trip odometer. Twice in the last year I had this vehicle run out of gas with me. The last time it ran out of gas on the I-10 bridge crossing the mississippi sound. Not the best place to be at night the tow truck driver who came to get me told me that Nissan had a recall notice on the Frontiers for their gas sending units. Nissan elected not to repair this concern because they stated my vehicle was out of warranty.

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving the fuel gauge would indicate that there was. The dealer was informed about the failure and stated that the vehicle needed a new fuel sending unit. There was no warranty due to the high mileage. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 74000. The current mileage was 77800.

Fuel gauge sensor problem with Nissan Frontier 2005, fuel gauge evap. Leak p0455 code. Both need to be fixed because there is a safety issue with the leak and sensor.

05 nismo Frontier, I had a ticking noise while driving. My engine light was on with a catalytic converter code, gas gage was intermittent. Took it to the dealer. Had to replace the fuel sending unit, get a new catalytic converter and have my driveline replace because it was blown. The truck had 94k when I took it in for repairs. I am currently trying to find a possible coolant leak. I can smell it but can't find where it is coming from.

Nissan fuel sending unit in 2005 Nissan Frontier is faulty.

We own a 2005 Nissan Frontier le king cab. Our gas hand does not work and the service engine soon light is constantly on. This is our third Nissan king cab with this problem. Apparently it is not covered under warranty and is quite expensive to fix. I feel there should be a recall. If we do not get warranty help with this problem, it will be the last Nissan for us.

Fuel level sensor in my 2005 Nissan Frontier is a chronic manufacturers problem that can cause the vehicle to stall unexpectedly. Several models of Nissan truck's have this problem and the operator will not know how much fuel they have.

Gasoline gauge not working properly in my 2005 Nissan Frontier truck. Every time I fuel up, the gas gauge is "stuck" at low and rises to the full mark about 3 days later and check engine light is always on because of the malfunctioning gas gauge. Nissan has offered 5yr/70,000 comprehensive warranty, but my truck is over 70k.

Service eng light comes on due to high fuel sensor. Also fuel gauge goes to less than e and the low fuel light comes on.

1. When I fill my ,2005 Nissan Frontier xe ,up with gas or it is to low on gas my fuel gauge will not function properly. The same problem with the 2006 model. 2. The failure is with my fuel sending unit. It occurs all the time. It prohibits me from reading my gas level. 3. Nothing has been done by Nissan to correct the problem. The part I need to fix it cannot be purchased through the dealer because they say the unit is on restriction due to the recall on the 2006 model. This same part is covered in the 2006 recall but not for the 2005 model and no one can answer why.

Took 2005 Nissan Frontier to fill up gas. Filled up and gas gauge went crazy which triggered service engine soon light which means I fail my emissions, now I have to spend 600 to repair, 300 for car tags, 50 for emissions test, happy birthday to me.

Service engine light came on stating: code p0463 (fuel level sensor malfunction) problem just started. Has not been corrected.

Fuel sending unit for the 2005 Nissan Frontier should have been included in the latest Nissan recall of 2006-2009 models. There are countless people with this truck who have the same problem as the recall problem, yet that model year is not included by Nissan.

I am getting a car code of p0463 which indicates that the fuel level sensor is malfunctioning in my 2005 Nissan Frontier. My gas needle dropped from 1/2 full to empty in a few seconds. I ran out of gas before I could get to a gas station.

2005 Nissan Frontier fuel gauge & check service light. The check service light came on and the fuel gauge reading poorly+erratically. Went on web and found this problem has been ongoing from previous years and models. There are hundreds of complaints on the web so there must be thousands who have been affected. The repair cost is $600 from the dealer, a cash cow. My truck has only 30,000 miles and been babied. I feel this is a planned design defect and a recall should be ordered. Samuel baylus.

2005 Nissan Frontier. Service engine soon light always on, and improper fuel gauge reading point to a bad fuel sensor unit. As this exact problem is all over Nissan forums on the internet, it's obviously a defective part and needs a recall.

My fuel gauge stopped working after filling up with gas one day. The engine light came on and I had the code read which said fuel sensor. The gauge sometimes works and sometimes doesn't which caused us to run out of gas one day shortly after the malfunction occurred. Fortunately we were on a quiet rural road at the time, if it had happened on the freeway with heavy traffic a serious accident could have occurred. The vehicle only has 55,000 miles on it and I see that this is a common problem well known to Nissan. There needs to be a recall on this before a serious accident occurs.

The contact 2005 Nissan Frontier. The fuel gauge indicator was operating improperly, and the check engine light illuminated on the warning panel. He had a diagnostic performed, which indicated the fuel level sending unit failed. He had not yet spoken with the manufacturer to determine if they would be willing to take liability for any failures. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current was 64,000.

The fuel gauge sends different signals empty when full, when 3/4 and up the gauge drops to empty. There are thousands of claims regarding this issue, also with pathfinders, terras, please see this complaint and do something !!!!!!!!!!!!.
