My 2005 Nissan Frontier le 4x4 recorded a p0463 (fuel level sensor circuit high input) earlier this week. It cleared came back once, and now is constant. After filling the tank, the fuel gauge took approximately 20 minutes to register full. Now my fuel gauge does not work at all- it simply displays zero fuel present in the tank. I've already ran out of fuel once this week, on the highway. I've contacted a local Nissan dealership, apparently Nissan has a recall (or TSB?) for certain Nissan Frontiers- however my particular vehicle has 133,000 miles and is thus not eligible. Can you please assist?.
Fuel gauge inaccuracy - Nissan chose not to include model year 2005 Frontiers in a voluntary safety recall campaign that was issued on 2006 and 2008 Frontier, xterra and pathfinder vehicles (campaign id# pc 042). In the alternative, Nissan extended the warranty of 2005 models from 36 to 72 months. My 2005 vehicle is now exhibiting the condition the condition wherein the fuel gage reads one quarter tank, when the tank is actually empty. This resulted in an out of fuel incident occurring on the highway, a near accident and subsequently being stranded awaiting roadside assistance. Although my vehicle only has 41,000 miles - it has been 78 months since purchase and Nissan is denying my request for coverage of the repair cost. Had Nissan rightly informed me of the condition via inclusion in the recall campaign - I would have had the defective fuel sending unit replaced immediately. Instead I am being forced to cover the cost of repair for this safety defect. I therefore am requesting reimbursement for my related expenses.
I owned a Nissan Frontier 2005 and just lately I noticed the fuel gauge assy not working when I put full tank fuel and yet the gauge still reads zero. I received a notice from Nissan that indeed there was a recall on 2005 Frontier for fuel gauge failures. I brought my car to the nearest Nissan repair shop and but they don't acknowledge that this is covered under the recall since my mileage is more than 90k miles and they said the recall had lapse already. I refuted that I just received the letter last week and how come it has lapsed already. But still they ask me to pay more that $400 for the repair.
Filled up 2005 Nissan Frontier with gas. After turning the truck back on the fuel gage dropped to empty. Then, when I started driving the check engine light came on. It has not went off and the fuel gauge will not go back up even with a full tank of gas.
I refueled when my fuel gauge read 1/4, when I started the vehicle back up the gauge still only said 1/4 tank even though I had just filled up with 16 gallons. The service engine soon light also came on. After checking online there appear to be thousands of instances of the same occurrence happening to Nissan Frontiers, and xterras. I believe this is a manufacturing fault which needs to rectified with a recall.
2005 Nissan Frontier gas gauge reads 1/4 full when the tank is empty. Causes me to run out of gas when driving in traffic. I drive with a gallon of gas in truck bed, so when I run out I can get to a gas station. I have to stand on the road with traffic going by to pour the gas in when it runs out, it's very dangerous to run out of gas when the gauge indicates there is gas in the tank. Nissan recalled 2006 to 2008 Frontiers but not 2005. I asked Nissan due to the production year 2005 and identical problem on the 2005, compared to the 2006- 2008 recall, to please repair they replied no, its not part of the recall . How do I hold Nissan responsible for issuing a defective product.
I was driving my 2005 Nissan Frontier and the vehicle ran out of gas while traveling on the roadway even though the gauges indicated 1/4 of a tank of gas remaining. I was nearly rear ended by another vehicle traveling behind me. Fortunately I was on a roadway with a travel speed of 35mph and not on a major highway. I had to push my vehicle to the roadside and call for assistance from a family member. I contacted the dealer to find that the vehicle is know to have a failure of the fuel level sending unit. I was told they have recalled 2006-2010 models of the Nissan Frontier but the 2005 model using the same part was not. I had to pay the dealer an 89. 95 diagnostic fee to confirm what they already told me and then pay 470. 00 additional in part and labor fees. Nissan consumer affairs was unresponsive and denies they have a problem with the 2005 model even though I presented them with a factory service bulletin I obtained that clearly identifies the problem for the 2005 model year and tells the dealer what to do, what to replace and allows them to claim for reimbursement for the part from Nissan. Service bulletin ntb07-069b part affected fuel level sending unit # 25060-zz00a.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. After adding gasoline to the fuel tank the contact noticed that the fuel indicator did not function and the check engine light had appeared on the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was 60000 and the failure mileage was 58000.
2005 Nissan Frontier crew cab le model. Fuel sending unit is defective. Fuel gauge does not read properly and does not indicate actual fuel level which has caused a stall due to lack of fuel when the gauge reads 1/4 tank. After learning of a recall for this problem, a search of my VIN number revealed that Nissan did not include my vehicle in the recall even though it is for the same issue that caused the recall.
Regardless of much fuel is in the tank the fuel gauge on my 2005 Nissan Frontier (38000 miles) shows less than empty and the service engine light is on.
Service engine soon light comes on at 1/4 tank of gas. Code is 0463 faulty fuel level sensor. Apparently this is a problem with Nissans and have had previous recalls for this on older models. Mine is 2005 Nissan Frontier and I understand it costs between $400 to $600 to fix. Have not had the money to fix it yet.
2005 Nissan Frontier crew cab. After filling the gas tank, the gage was reading 1/4 tank. Over the course of the day the gage increased till it read nearly full. Also, when the gage nears 1/4 tank, it will suddenly drop from 1/4 tank to dead empty with indicator light.
2005 Nissan Frontier fuel sending unit failure when gas gage reached 1/2 tank the gauge failed to 0 with empty light on, service engine soon light came on and dte calculator went to --------- (58,576 miles) problem goes away when tank is refilled to more than 1/2 tank and reads normal, after about 90 miles service engine soon light goes out.
The fuel gauge on my Nissan Frontier 2005 model gives a incorrect reading and the service engine light comes on making it impossible to pass emission in the state of tennessee in order to receive paperwork to get registration and tags. Sometimes the problem corrects itself but it takes days maybe weeks. And the only way to keep up with how much fuel is inside the tank is to try to keep up the how many miles you have driven. How can you have a recall on 2006 models that have the same problem but not on 2005. It should be corrected by Nissan regardless of what model.
Have a 2005 Nissan Frontier with approx. 62,000 miles. Went to fill the gas tank and when done noticed the gauge did not go up at all. Also the engine light went on. As I drove the gauge slowly went up to full and the dte reading adjusted to the approximate mileage to empty. Eventually the check engine light went off after driving for a few days. Filled the tank again and the same thing happened. Checked on line and seen that alot of people are having the same problem. Have not contacted the dealer yet.
The fuel gauge and sending unit are defective both have been replaced by Nissan twice and both continue to fail on a weakly basis running out of fuel on the interstate wile the gauge reads a half tank Nissan refuses to fix since the truck is now out of warranty.
2005 Nissan Frontier has a known fuel gauge issue. There is a recall on 2006+ Frontiers that have the same exact part. The fuel sending unit attached to the gas tank is known to go bad, and is covered by Nissan under the recall, which doesn't include the problematic 2005 models out there. See NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000. The result is that the gas gauge and computer estimates of "distance until empty" are grossly erroneous and require constant monitoring of the range.
Fuel tank level gauge not working properly, and service engine soon light on. The problem seems to be the fuel sending unit/sensor. I went online to x. Nissanhelp. Com after performing a search, I came across many others who have experienced the same problem. Vehicles that are experiencing this problem are: 2005-2007 Frontiers, xterras, and pathfinders. There should be a recall on this issue with so many others having this same problem. This could be a safety issue not knowing the correct level of fuel in your vehicle. Someone could run out of gas on the highway and put their live or someone else's in jeopardy. This problem seems to be happening around approx. 39,000 to 50,000 mileage on odometer.
Fuel sensors in my fuel sending unit are bad . This has caused immediate loss of power on the highway ; as the fuel level reads quarter tank, but is actually empty. Nissan just recalled some 540,000 ,2006 and up vehicles for the same problem, but excluded the first year of the second generation Frontier models. It is easy to find hundreds if not thousands of complaints on the internet for the 2005 editions alone. Nissan is clearly reluctant to take full responsibility for these defective sensors , and should include the 2005 models in this safety recall . Thank you for your time.
Problem with fuel gauge on 2005 Nissan Frontier pick up truck. After filling tank, fuel gauge will drop to empty, turn on low fuel light, and turn on service engine soon light. After a day, the fuel gauge will begin working again (slowly returns to correct level) and eventually the service engine soon light will go out. Process repeats every time vehicle is re-fueled.
2005 Frontier crew cab with 83k miles with p0463 error code. Fuel gauge drops from 1/4 tank to empty.
2005 Frontier nismo with 55k miles with p0463 error code. Fuel gauge drops from 1/4 tank to empty.
I am joining the thousands of other Nissan Frontier owners that have a failed fuel sending unit. When I get to 1/4 of a tank, the gauge falls to empty and the low fuel light comes on. I fill it up immediately since I don't want the truck to stall like others have experienced. I only have 40k miles on my 2005 model.
I had just picked my vehicle up from the dealership after having had them perform several repairs. After driving about 10 or 15 miles, and with approximately 1/4 of a tank of gas, the check engine light came on. I returned the car to the dealer and was told that it was a fuel sending unit/sensor and that it would cost $463. I performed research online and found that there are numerous other car owners who have experienced the same problem. It appears that the unit will corrode after just several years of use. I also found that a similar problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled. However, although a service bulletin has been issued for 2005-2007 xterras, Frontiers, and pathfinders the cost of this repair is still being put on the customer. Since this is such a wide-spread problem that includes an integral part of the car it should be addressed with a recall and the installation of a better designed unit.
2005 Nissan Frontier. When the fuel gauge reaches 1/2 tanks the gauge reads empty. The problem is a bad fuel sensor. After doing research online, there are many others with the same problem on the same vehicle.
2005 Nissan Frontier, gas gauge is malfunctioning. When tank is filled gauge reads anywhere from empty to 3/4 full and check engine light is on continuously. Took to mechanic who isolated the problem to the sending unit in the tank, repair would require tank removal and would costs hundreds of dollars. I could not afford, so have been using mileage to estimate fuel usage. When I heard about the recall Nissan had for similar problems, I was surprised and disappointed that the cutoff was the 2006 model year. The recall should be for all units with the same problem.
I had 1/4 of a tank of gas and went to fill up. After filling up my gas tank, I turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank nor my digital fuel sensor on the dashboard. After driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. I went directly to the dealer and was told that it was a fuel sending unit/sensor and that it was no longer covered after 30k miles. After returning home and doing research, I went online to x. Nissanhelp. Com after performing a search, I came across many others who have experienced the same problem. Apparently it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. A similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a recall was performed when the vehicle would stop after not getting any fuel, posing a great danger. It seems that something in the unit is faulty and will corrode over time. There is a general consensus that everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing after having the vehicle for over 2 yrs old. If this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterras, Frontiers, and pathfinders should be fixed at no charge to the customer!! why wait for accidents and possible deaths, especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. Cost of repair ranges from $300-600. ".
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. Whenever the contact would add gasoline to the vehicles capacity, he noticed that the fuel gauge would indicate that the tank was half full. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where the contact had the float valve replaced. There were no prior warnings . The current and failure mileages were 63000.
Fuel level sending unit malfunctioned on Nissan Frontier 2005 and caused vehicle to run out of gas on interstate. Cost to replace was 700 dollars from dealer. Have not replaced yet. Fuel gauge shows empty tank to half full regardless of actual gas volume residing in the tank.
My 2005 Nissan pickup's fuel gauge has stopped working. The gauge no longer indicates gas in tank even when full. The service engine light is on and the reserve light is on.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated after filing the vehicle with gasoline, the check engine light illuminated on the dashboard. The fuel level indicator also would not adjust to show an accurate reading of fuel levels and remained on empty. After consuming approximately one-fourth of gasoline, the fuel level indicator then began to read fuel levels. The dealer advised there were no recalls on his vehicle and any repairs would be at the owners expense. There were no repairs made to the vehicle. The contact stated the failure would recur whenever the fuel tank was filled. The failure mileage was 52,000 and the current mileage was 64,000.
Fuel sending unit problem with my 2005 Nissan Frontier. Causes fuel guage to be non functional. Basically there is no way to tell how much gas I have in my tank. Problem started at 59000 miles, I now have 80000. Nissan refuses to fix.
My fuel level gauge indicated I had 1/4 of a tank of gas left. I stopped and filled it with 17 gallons at the local shell gas station. After filling, as I was leaving the station I noticed my fuel gauge had not moved and still displayed 1/4 of a tank. I also noticed my check engine soon light was on. I went to have it checked and a computer read out indicated a bad fuel level sensor. After a review on the internet it seemed to be a common problem with this particular vehicle.
My 2005 Nissan Frontier service engine light is coming on and the gas gauge does not work. I have verified that this is not subject to a recall in my model vehicle but is subject to an earlier model yr recall. After filling up my gas gauge goes to empty until I have driven approx 125 mile and then it goes to three quarters of a tank. Nissan is aware of the problem and has issued service bulletin # ntb07-69a for its dealers but has not chosen to fix the issue.
Upon reaching approximately 37,000 miles on my 2005 Nissan Frontier my gas gauge began acting wildly and my check engine light went off to indicate I had a bad fuel sending unit. Code 0463. The gauge will not register any fuel when the tank is full or when it's near empty. When the tank is half fuel the gauge seems to work. Upon further research it appears that hundreds of people are having this same problem and Nissan has acknowledged there is a problem via service bulletin ntb07-069a. However they have not stepped up to recall this known faulty part. This could be a safety hazard and I feel that Nissan needs to do something about the defective fuel sending units they pu in my truck. It appears that most of these failures are happening near the 40k mark so Nissan does not cover them under normal warranty. Very convenient for them.
