1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2023

A gasoline leak has developed on the fuel tank hose fill adapter that is a molded fixture of the gas tank. In which there is no replacement part or fix for the hose fill adapter gasoline leak but to replace the whole gas tank, which cost hundreds of dollars. I alerted Nissan to the problem that a catastrophic situation could occur related to this grave engineering mistake. Because there are millions of people still driving this type of vehicle and others with the same gas tank design. Nissan said that it is not their problem because the vehicle is out of warranty, and there is no recall, on what I believe to be grave danger for all who owns a Nissan vehicle with this type of gas tank design. My opinion is that a warning bulletin or re-call should be issued immediately for this dangerous problem that many motorist may already have.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2018

Dear Nissan service: I am the owner of a 2006 Nissan Frontier se with approximately 124,000 miles. The vehicle was purchased used from nalley Nissan in 2012 with approximately 89,000 miles on it. The history of the vehicle was meticulous, minus that the catalytic converter had been replaced by nalley Nissan. In February 04, 2016 I had the left catalytic converter replaced at nalley Nissan. The right catalytic converter was replaced prior to purchasing the vehicle. My vehicle has already had both catalytic converters replaced. On may 11, 2018 I was advised that I need both of my catalytic converters replaced again at stone mountain Nissan. My check engine light had came on agaiinhowever, both of the catalytic converters have been previously replaced. It should be noted that this in not an inexpensive repair. I only used premium gasoline in my vehicle to ensure its proper performance and get my vehicle regularly maintained an Nissan dealerships. It is rather obvious that there is something else going on with my vehicle that is defective in nature. I had read that this is a common problems with Nissan Frontiers and Nissan altimas. I do not want to get the catalytic converts replaced at at estimated $2200 and have this problem resurface again. In georgia, we have annual emissions tests and my vehicle will not pass an emissions test. Just recently, I had taken my vehicle on a short trip to north georgia. The engine stalled and completely lost power. I was able to get the vehicle home however, it is rather evident that something is mechnically wrong with my vehicle and just simply replacing the catalytic converters will not ensure that this problem will happen again. Is there any guidance that you can offer? regards gordon meredith jr. 4105 rue dartagnan stone mountain GA 30083 404. 992. 6013.

7 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2016

Service engine light came on, had a Nissan dealership diagnose as a "fuel level sensor " is bad. That they stated it's not cover under any warranties, which this part has been recalled in the past. Nissan should extend the recalls to incorporate more vehicles with this problem. This is a huge safety issue.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

My truck has the promblem of campaign number 10vo75000 but Nissan said not cover by my VIN is this more wide spread in other modle truck?.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2015

The transmission on my truck suddenly went out with no warning during my morning commute in heavy traffic on the 202 loop in phoenix. Shifting to a different gear had the same effect as stepping on the gas, which was that the engine revved with no increase or decrease in speed. I had to coast across 4 lanes of fast moving traffic. It was an incredibly dangerous situation. I am told by the Nissan dealership that transmission fluid mixed with coolant and that it was a catastrophic failure. I have received no notices of any kind from Nissan and was shocked to learn that this is a known, commonly occurring defect and that the defect manifests instantaneously and without warning most of the time. Nissan should be held accountable for the defective system and for not notifying me that I should have the dealer fix it before they put my life and property and that of every person around me at risk. Updated 09/15/lj.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

The gas gauge has stopped working. It will read empty (with light on) even immediately after a fill-up. Over the next few days, it gives erratic readings. I have to keep a written note on the mileage each time I fill up so that I don't accidently run out of gas.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2015

While driving I noticed my "service engine soon" light on, so I called a local Nissan dealer in our place and have a change oil service. The tech advisor informed me that my fuel sensing unit is malfunctioning and asked me if I wanted to have and quoted me a price of over $400. 00. I said no because I cannot afford that amount. I research and found out that there was a recall for this type problem however it expired already. I called corporate Nissan and requested if they can fix the problem. They called me today (5/29/2015) and told me they cannot extend the recall. I think this recall should be extended by Nissan. Please investigate because there are a lot of other 2006 Nissan Frontier having the same problem as of this time (based on the several Nissan forums I read on the internet.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2015

When I first bought my vehicle I seen nothing pretty much wrong with it. After a week of driving with it I start noticing problem with the tires, not a big deal. I fixed that, then I notice that my vehicle starts acting up in changing gears, as well as heating up. So I check the radiator, that I notice transmission fluid inside the radiator. So I called the Nissan dealership after hearing a recall, due to this issue. They tell me that I would need $3500. 00 as a deposit, before they do anything because it is possibility that not only the radiator needs to be changed, but that they would have to change the transmission also if they see it needs to be changed. All this in less than a month. So I change the radiator myself. Now a month later the transmission is acting up on me. So I ask what good is a recall if I have to pay to get it fixed. What good is buying a vehicle if the manufactures and dealership take no responsibility in what they build or sale. I never try to do this to any customer in wherever I work, either the cable or phone company, so what make Nissan special in doing this to their customers. In less that 2 month after I get my truck from the dealership, I have to fix my tires, put a new radiator, and now a transmission. What use is having a government or a federal system, when the customer is not being heard, and the people with the money can lie to the customer and our system does nothing, but allow all this to happen.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2014

My "service engine soon" light came on. A code read said it was my fuel sending unit. There was a recall for the issue but Nissan customer support said my VIN was not covered. They did not explain why but upon my follow up, they said they would investigate if they could help/assist with the repair costs. They required the code read from the dealer (which I did and they confirmed it was the fuel sending unit). They call me back a week later and told me that they would not pay, although the representative admitted it was the defect from the recall campaign, but this time, she said it was because the recall warranty had expired. Since I was never part of the recall notice, there was no way for me to know when the campaign was in effect, plus - they did not include my VIN number. This same problem has happened to many, many people and it seems Nissan has scammed nhsta and the recall system to minimize the amount of repairs they have had to make (e. G. They volunteer to perform the recall, then artificially limit the number of VIN numbers included), and put a time limit on the recall by calling it a warranty extension. When people like me experience the problem and follow up, they are prepared with a cascading number of ways to say "so sorry", but none of them own up to their original commitment to the public and the NHTSA to conduct and execute a full recall on this safety issue. Very slick, and very unethical. I am hoping that the NHTSA will conduct a full investigation, not just for me, but to eventually force Nissan to honor the recall on all vehicles that experience this problem - not just a few vins they named so they can save money.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2014

We bought this Nissan new in 2006 -great little truck. But recently the engine would stall and all the lights on the dash came on. Took it to our mechanic he said it was a tran code took it to the Nissan dealership and they said the coolant had gotten into the trans or vise versa (a lot to take in),so I needed a new transmission and radiator. I found this issue on your website for a recall but my vehicle was within the years of the recall but it has over 100,000 it has130 so the dealership said there was nothing they could do to help with the $5500 bill they just quoted me. Is there any help out there for me on this issue??? please.

15 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2014

Report receipt date: Mar 03, 2010 NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 component(s): fuel system, gasoline I was told by Nissan of USA that our vehicle, even though it falls within the date of the campaign, does not meet the recall due to the VIN and not the year of vehicle. Our vehicle exhibits the symptoms and basis for the recall and I do not understand why it isn't covered by Nissan.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2011

I just received a recall on my 2006 Nissan Frontier, my neighbor also told me regarding the fuel level sensor a lkt high input problems. I never received this information. I received a recall notification on the engine control module relay. Please send me information so that I may resolve this problem. Thank you.

17 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2010

The fuel gage either shows full or one fourth or empty even after a fill up. I have ran out of gas in heavy traffic almost resulting in several rear end collisions.

18 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2009

I have a 2006 Nissan Frontier nismo I have had 3 fuel "sending units" replaced and have only 21000 miles on the truck. This is due to very erratic and somewhat unsafe defective equipment ie; gas gauge/sending unit. I recently had it replaced for the third time and it is now worse than before. I am very frustrated and this seems to be a universal problem with the gas gauge/sending unit. I would like to see a recall and this problem fixed once and for all. Thanks.

19 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2009

Nissan fronteir xe fuel sending unit defective and has been for over a year . Called Nissan consumer affairs and they said my truck was not part of the recall. . . . Other fronteirs qualify but mine does not. . . . I have the exact problem as the others involved in recall but mine can't be part of this? why.

20 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2009

Nissan service bulletin ntb07-069a.

21 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2009

I have a 06 Nissan Frontier. Just after the 36k warranty the fuel sending unit went out. This causes the service engine light to come on not to mention the fuel gage doesn't work. I paid 400 to have this unit replace. However, they have a "newer part number" which proves they know about the problem. This just isn't fair especially the vehicle on had 38k on it. Also, tailgate hinge problems. The right side hinge breaks. Something def wrong with how it was made as I had looked at several Frontiers and 3 of them were broken. This needs to be looked at as well. Damages the tail gate when this happens and someone is going to get hurt.
