1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2020

Fuel sending unit working sporadically and triggered check engine light. Fuel gauge is marking half tank then slowly went up, but fuel tank was filled up. There is also a recall on radiator leaking antifreeze into transmission but has not happened yet.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2020

Driving to work and vehicle shut off and coasted to a stop. I tried to restart and it acted like it was not getting fuel. The gas gauge was showing slightly under a 1/4 of a tank. I had someone come get me and take me home. After doing a little online research I found a NHTSA recall for that specific truck campaign id# 10v075000, recall date 3/3/2010. After reading this I went and purchased some gas and put it in the truck. The truck fired right up but the gas hand didn't move. Called two local Nissan dealers and talked to them about the recall but they found none for my VIN.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2019

Fuel gauge started hanging on a quarter tank when I had much less then when I realized that it has to be wrong and filled it up it would go to empty and turn on check engine until it got down a ways then work until 1/4 again where it would sit until you ran out. Same scenario as NHTSA #10v-075 but Nissan says my truck was not affected VIN# even though it has low mileage and went out at about 70000 mi range.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2019

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that the fuel gauge was not reading correctly. When the contact filled up the gas tank the gas gauge was showing the level as empty was the tank was filled with fuel. The gas gauge now always shows as being empty. The manufacturer gave the contact a case number , checked for recalls and referred the him to the NHTSA. . The failure mileage was 47,500. Tf.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2018

I went to the gas station and filled the tank up all the way. Before I filled it the fuel gauge read slightly above a quarter tank. After I filled it I turned the car on and the needle was stuck at slightly above a quarter tank. So I turned the car off and turned it back on. The fuel gauge then dropped to the bottom and triggered the low fuel indicator along with the service engine soon indicator. Over 600 complaints have been issued and this happens on a lot of Nissan cars such as the Frontier, xterra, pathfinder, etc. This is a engineering design issue not a maintenance problem.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2017

The fuel sensor is not relaying accurate fuel levels. When vehicle is near empty tank the tank fuel gauge will often still read 1/4 tank level. The check engine light remains on which codes alerted on diagnostics relay back to the sensor issue. The problems is now worsening where even at full tank the gauge will sometimes indicate empty with fuel alert light on and tank just topped off. The improper fuel indication has caused the vehicle to run out of fuel several miles from a gas station while still showing 1/4 tank level. This can be very dangerous as being stranded in nc in peak of summer temps outside can reach over 100 degrees. Furthermore stalling out for lack of fuel in busy city traffic or sharp turn on highway at 60-70 mhp can lead to a very dangerous accident.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2017

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the fuel gauge would display inaccurate readings indicating more or less fuel was available then what was actually in the fuel tank. In addition, while refueling the fuel would sometimes back out of the filler hole when streaming fuel at a steady pace. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel level sending unit needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA campaign number 10v075000 (fuel system). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 110,000.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

Service engine light code po463 fuel level sensor is know defective and told me for them to cover the cost of replacement all they would need is an official diagnosis which I got from Nissan of sacramento at my own expense of $150 which was a struggle since I'm unemployed, I'm told it could show the gauge can show 1/4 tank when there is no gas in the causing potential stalling in traffic and causing an accident.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2016

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the engine warning indicator illuminated as the vehicle stalled. The fuel gauge displayed an inaccurate reading that the fuel tank capacity was full however, the fuel tank level was empty. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The mechanic informed that the fuel sensor would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

When fuel tank is full, gauge drops to empty until you drive 75-150 miles, then the needle registers normal for the past year and dealer didn't find the issue. Now engine light registers and inspection sticker is being refused.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2015

Gas gauge stops working after half tank is used01.

12 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2014

Took vehicle to local Nissan dealership for noise that appeared to be coming from transmission with a slight rowing sound when transmission shifted between 40 mph and 45 mph. Shop manager informed me truck needed a new timing chain and fuel tank sending unit. After making repairs to the timing chain which the shop manager specifically indicated that the problem was with the timing chain, my truck still has the same exact problem. These repairs were made at my expense. Now the dealership want me to pay for additional repairs that may not be the problem when they specifically assured me that the timing chain was the problem. I feel that the real problem with my vehicle is the radiator and transmission, which is a nation-wide problem with Nissan Frontier truck transmission and other Nissan vehicles. Nissan is responsible for a re-call on these vehicle. (will seek Nissan corp. & bbb assist to resolve this issue).

13 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2014

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled. Upon inspection, it was found that the fuel tank was empty although the fuel gauge indicated that it was 3/4 full. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel level sending unit was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA campaign number 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was 72,000.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2014

I called nissian in regards to NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000. They claim that it does not apply to my VIN 1n6ad07u76c455532. My vehicle has roughly 52,000 miles on it and is experiencing this issue. They want me to take it to nissian for a diagnosis that will cost me ~$150. My check engine light is always on and refers to the fuel sending unit. The in cabin fuel gauge shows 1/4 tank nearly all the time.

15 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2014

I was driving at posted speed when my vehicle ran out of gas. The fuel gauge showed that I had 1/2 tank, nearly causing a crash. I am a former memphis police officer with extensive defensive driving. My truck is not under the recall. But, it is in the date range. I have filed a complaint also about the transmission coolant problem also! thanks, jon.

16 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2014

Service engine soon light came on and fuel gauge went to empty. Distance to empty was erratic, however slowly recovered. Filled vehicle with gas even though it was only on 1/4 tank. Service engine soon light continues to stay on and fuel gauge remains on empty. I have seen many posts online with people having the same issues. This is an issue Nissan should remedy due to so many having this problem.

17 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2013

Nissan has a well known problem with faulty fuel sensor sending unit on Frontier and xterra trucks. This causes the gas gauge to stop working and record inaccurate fuel level. The fuel guage will show empty when tank is full. This is a safety concern as vehicle owner does not know how much fuel is in the tank and could run out of gas on an interstate/highway or moving through intersection, going onto highway exchanges etc. This puts driver and other vehicles on the road at risk. I called Nissan and they will not stand behind this part even though it is defective. I even went as far to ask them if I paid for the part (~$100) would they cover the labor (the fuel tank needs to be dropped to change the defective sensor). They said no.

18 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2013

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, he noticed the "low fuel" warning night was illuminated, however, the contact knew that the fuel tank was full. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall when the vehicle was inclined and driven up a hill. The problem recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis and the mechanic stated that the the fuel level sensor circuit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number :10v075000(fuel system, gasoline). The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. Gb.

19 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2013

Fuel gauge not reading correctly. Registering 1/4 tank when it was almost empty. Took vehicle to dealership and they replaced the fuel sender unit. Why wasn't my vehicle involved in the recall. Looks to be some more of Nissan's not wanting to include all of the defective vehicles in the recall.

20 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2013

The instrument panel fuel gauge to show's that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. The contact was informed of a recall for NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified but stated the VIN was not part of the recall. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 53,000 and the current mileage was 56,000.

22 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2012

When you put gas in the vehicle the gas gauge doesn't work, goes to empty with the warning light coming on and shortly after the service engine light will come one. It doesn't matter if you put in 1 gallon of gas or if you fill up the tank. The fuel sending unit fails, Nissan dealer said they are aware of the issue but its not a recall.

23 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2012

Fuel gauge shows 1/4 tank but ran out of gas driving on the freeway. There is a Nissan recall (recall pc042 - fuel gauge inaccuracy) but dealer refuses to repair, stating my VIN does not show to be included in the recall. Make, model, and year are listed in the recall. Nissan case # [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

24 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2012

2006 Nissan Frontier le 4x4. Fuel gauge is not reading accurately. This caused me to run out of gas on November 14th, 2012, when the gauge was well above the "low gas" threshold. It was a very scary experience for me as I was in traffic at the time when the engine stalled at around 40mph. I fear this could happen again and now I'm afraid to drive with my grandkids in my truck. I researched this problem and traced it to a common defect with the fuel level sending unit that is a safety recall which affects many Nissan vehicles, including 2006 Frontier models but somehow excluding my 2006 Frontier: **************** NHTSA campaign id number: 10v075000 recall date: 2010-03-03 summary: Nissan is recalling certain model year 2006 and model year 2008 Frontier, xterra and pathfinder vehicles. The molded fuel tank shells can deform, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tank shell causing the instrument panel fuel gauge to show that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. Consequences: this could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy: dealers will replace the fuel level sending unit inside the fuel tank with a new one that has a modified float arm. This service will be performed free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on or before March 22, 2010. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261. Component affected: fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxillary tank notes: Nissan north America, inc. *****************.

25 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2012

Fuel gauge show empty when it has a full tank. . Fuel gauge will slowly get up to full and then won't drop below a quarter of a tank. You have no clue how much gas is in the vehicle. Looks like there are a ton of people complaining about the same thing online. Faulty fuel sending unit looks like the cause.

26 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2012

2006 Nissan Frontier. Filled the gas tank and the gauge stayed on 1/4. When I drove the vehicle again, the gas tank gauge went up to 3/4, but I'm not certain if the 3/4 is accurate. This now happens on every gas fill up. Found a recall notice online (listed below). I called my local Nissan dealer and they indicated my VIN number is not part of the recall. I call Nissan, and they stated the same thing and informed me NHTSA decides what VIN number is part of the recall and it's out of Nissan's hands. And, volunteered they did not have contact information for NHTSA. Nice customer service. Nhtsa, if I'm having similar issues to the recall, how do I get my VIN number added recall id # 80825 - fuel system, gasoline:storage:auxillary tank hide details recall date: Mar 03, 2010 model affected: 2006 Nissan Frontier summary: Nissan is recalling certain model year 2006 and model year 2008 Frontier, xterra and pathfinder vehicles. 35 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2008

I purchased a used 2006 Nissan Frontier crew cab se this April 2008 everything was running great until this month of December 23 my check engine light came on out of the blue and my fuel gauge doesn't work properly so I filled it up with gas maybe im just low on gas but when I filled up my tank my gauge didn't go up so I brought it to my mechanic to fix the problem he told me that my fuel sensor is tripping out and its going to cost me $150 to drop the gas tank plus the price of the sensor which I don't have any idea how much it cost so I told my mechanic to turn off the check engine light and he told me to come back the next day if the problem still exist so I went home and the next day when I started my truck the check engine was gone and my fuel gauge went up all the way lightning fast so I was very happy but not for long after 5 days the problem occurred again I was low of gas about 1/4 tank and the lights were on again so another disappointment so I research this problem and I found that im not alone with this problem there's alot of people out there that own Nissan vehicles that are newer that has a fuel sensor problem and this is a major defect and Nissan should consider this a recall this could lead to a big problem when your fuel gauge is not working properly especially when driving and all of a sudden your out of gas and it can cause an accident or even death especially when your driving on the freeway I hope my complaint will take effect and to notify Nissan about this problem we are talking safety for the consumers just like me thank you. . . . .
